I went to Karpov Orthodontics upon my friend's recommendation. We both got braces for a second time as adults. I opted for the "clear braces." Dr. Karpov uses white diamond brackets with a silver wire. I followed all her instructions and got my braces removed about a month early. That was 3 years ago. Everything still looks great! I'm still using my clear "Invisalign-like" retainer at night. It's very durable. I'm still using the same one for 3 years and have not swapped it out for a new one yet. Today I finished my treatment and all I can say is I LOVE this place. I'd visited 3 orthodontists before Dr. Karpov and finally decided to do my treatment here. Best decision I've made! I did Invisalign and from day one this place was a great experience. The staff remains consistent and by the time you've finished treatment, starts to feel like your orthodontics family. Karpov Orthodontics is ON TOP of their schedule and with how many doctors are always running behind these days, you'll come to endlessly appreciate it. Whenever I had a tight schedule or needed to change an appointment, they always accommodated. Their technology is very up to date as well and you notice that through every step of the process. On multiple occasions I was able to text in to change an appointment or ask questions. I confirmed my appointments by text and their advanced teeth mold scanner things in the office made everything super quick. 9/10 times I was in and out within 10 minutes. Never in a rushed way though, they always took as much time as needed to thoroughly address my questions and concerns. I never had an appointment canceled, delayed, or rescheduled by the office. On the few occasions Dr. Karpov wasn't available, they had another orthodontist who came in to cover. She wasn't quite as amazing as Dr. Karpov but still great. They've just expanded to a beautiful new office that continues to be incredibly convenient for me downtown. Oh and yeah, I walked in looking like a vampire one year ago and now my teeth lookin hella fineeee. If you trynna look like a hottie, hit up Dr. Karpov. Dr. Karpov is truly the best orthodontist. I am an adult patient who went to her upon referral from the best dentist in NYC after one of the worst dentists caused me pain and destroyed my bite, leading to one of the most difficult orthodontic situations to correct (an open bite). She managed to do it all with Invisalign, which is extremely difficult. Not only is she a fantastic and brilliant orthodontist she is also a kind and patient person. Dr. Lin is ridiculously nice. She will go through each step with you to make sure you understand what is going on. And during the procedure, she will often ask if you're feeling okay. (She even jokingly offered to give me a ride back to North Jersey). Even though I was referred to her by my dentist to get a root canal, she tested my tooth to make sure I needed one (the guy that went before didn't end up needing one!). I can't even say enough about how wonderful my experience was at this office. Dr. Karpov and her staff were so kind to me during a mini orthodontic emergency I had. With my orthodontist states away, Dr. Karpov went above and beyond to communicate with him to figure out the best course of action and make sure that he was aware of what was going on. Dr. Karpov is amazing. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for first-class orthodontics. It was a hard decision to get braces for the first time as an older adult. My issue was primarily correcting my bite, as opposed to cosmetic. I had other orthodontists tell me they would have to pull a tooth which I was reluctant to do. Dr. Karpov used high-tech diagnostics to determine my treatment, explained everything to me, worked around my concerns about an implant, and did a beautiful job---my bite was completely corrected in 18 months and my teeth look perfect. And no extracted teeth. Her office staff is really great---friendly and efficient. I never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for my appointments. We were referred to Dr. Karpov by a dentist. We moved to NYC and needed to find an orthodontist to take over managing my sons braces (he was about 3/4 through his treatment). She agreed to take over and after examining him, said he would need to have them on for another 6 months. 18+ months later, they were still on. She finally said she was going to remove them after I asked, but said he would need a retainer. She then said those would cost $1,200 ($600 for the top and $600 for the bottom). I thought that was rather expensive for retainers, but assumed she was pricing them legitimately. My son just returned from his appointment to pick up his "retainers" only to discover she had ordered and had made Invisalign, which are essentially "invisible braces". read more

I went to Dr Karpov for a consultation to learn more about a night guard. My first impression when i was seen at her office was that it had a very clean and relaxing environment. She was very professional and nice, she spent a lot of time with me and answered all my questions. I didn't feel rushed which was very important to me. Dr. Maria Karpov and her staff are the best at what they do. From A - Z: from the first appointment to assessing what needs to be done, to making a financial plan (insurance, payments etc.) to being seen ON TIME (every time!), to calling after hours with an emergency to her access to specialists around the city- it is a breeze and 100% professional and top notch. My daughter is currently under her care and is in braces. She suffers terribly from TMJ which is being made worse by the movement of her bite. The good news is that Dr. Karpov is a bite specialist. She is at the top of her game and knows how important it is to align the bite so TMJ won't be an issue for our daughter in the future. Dr. Karpov is cutting edge. And she works within our budget (when does THAT happen in NYC??) and has the BEST people in her rolodex when she needs to refer out. Because of her bite expertise, I got treated for my TMJ too! I have suffered from TMJ for 30 years and never thought it was possible to feel better. She fit me with a splint and after several adjustments, my jaw relaxed and fits comfortably when I wear my splint. So grateful! She has two offices- TriBeCa and UWS. The environment is clean, borderline immaculate and her support staff are very skilled and knowledgable. And the price? REASONABLE. Get an estimate before you commit to braces. I initially was told I would also need jaw surgery, but Dr. Karpov was able to correct the issue with braces alone. Dr. Karpov and her staff are amazing - everyone is so warm and caring that I actually look forward to my appointments. Dr. Karpov is extremely detailed, knowledgeable and patient. I was referred to her by my dentist who told me that she is the only orthodontist he knows of that could correct my asymmetry and occlusal cant without jaw surgery. She uses technology that traditional orthodontist don't use. She is constantly going to seminars and keeping up to date with the latest technology. What is most special about her practice is that she takes into consideration the aesthetic of the whole face, not just the alignment of the teeth. I couldn't be happier that I went with Dr. Karpov. I went to Dr. Karpov for consultation for braces about a year ago, but eventually decided to go with another orthodontist (for reasons I will explain below). So this review is not about her orthodontic skills but her pricing and attitude. First of, it was easy to schedule an appointment and the office was very clean, and that's what the one star is for. I wanted to get the Damon braces system and since I had a bite issue (my midline was not aligned between the lower and upper teeth), she suggested a 6-month splint treatment first before going on braces. The splint treatment would cost extra (I don't remember exactly how much, but in the 2K-3K neighborhood), since the quote for braces was already pretty high ($7500K), I suggested to only improve the misalignment through wearing rubber band. I think my exact words were something like: "I thought maybe it could be improved through wearing rubber band", to which she said "that's what you think!". She definitely didn't say it in a joking way. That was a big turn off because it sounded very condescending and she showed no respect to her patient's questions. That was one of the big reasons I didn't go with her. Before I started my treatment, I went to a few orthodontists that offered the Damon system to compare prices, Dr. Karpov's pricing was definitely on the high end because of the extra charges. All the orthodontists I went to quoted me about the same price (including Dr. Karpov). The only difference is, with the other orthos the price would cover the full treatment, replacement of brackets if they fall off, permanent retainers and a removable retainer, Dr Karpov charged extra for everything: permanent retainer $320 for upper and $320 for bottom, $50 to replace brackets, I don't remember how much a removable retainer would cost. After comparing the prices plus her attitude, I decided to go with another ortho. Now I am at the one year mark, my midline is 100% aligned through wearing rubber band, and my ortho is just doing fine tuning at this stage. I am scheduled to be braces free in 2 months! I am very glad that I didn't pick Dr Karpov and chose an ortho that would listen to me and answer my questions properly. read more

Both of my children (4 years apart) have gone to Dr. Karpov for their braces, which means we began coming to this office in 2014! My son's braces just came off last week (!) while my daughter's came off a couple years ago. I can whole-heartedly recommend Dr. Karpov, her caring assistants and the VERY patient front desk staff (yes, I'm one of those moms who reschedules constantly). From the first appointment through the braces, and then the continual care after, Dr. Karpov is thorough, smart and good at what she does. She makes sure to explain very clearly the plan, the options and consults with each appointment. She is always available for questions - and I should mention, she is super nice, which makes the experience easier. Office is always clean, high tech, and efficient.
