The artist portfolios look to be of high skill and the studio is known for its cleanliness. I had such a positive experience at Aces. I was in town for just a few days and called to see if I could get in with Jeff after looking at artists' portfolios on their website. I called and the man answering the phone was super nice and informative. He told me that I would need to come by the shop to consult with the artist and see if I could get worked into his schedule while in town. I did as he told me. When I arrived at Aces, I only had to wait a couple of minutes to consult with the artist. I told him exactly what I was looking for and he told me what would and wouldn't work with my design, of course looking for the tattoo to last and be readable over the years. I expressed worry about getting a straight line and on an uneven area; Jeff was honest about the difficulty of the area to tattoo a straight line, but was confident that he would make the tattoo look good. I was happy with what we decided and paid the deposit for a tattoo the next day. When I came back for my tattoo, I was taken back to where the tattooing would take place. There were two artists (including my own) and two people being tattooed (including me). I liked that it wasn't super crowded and minimal distractions, if any. Jeff showed me my sealed needles and expiration dates for each, which is comforting. We applied the stencils for each tattoo. Jeff was able to capture exactly what I wanted for each tattoo (size, design, etc.) and each was perfectly sized and designed for the areas of my body where I wanted them. Since my tattoos were rather small, I was in and out in just about 30 minutes. Jeff was super focused on his work and took care with my straight line that I had expressed concern about on the day we originally met. Everything turned out exactly as I had hoped and, even better in some ways. Not only was I met with a clean studio and friendly people, but I was met with knowledgeable people who focused on giving me high-quality permanent pieces on my skin. The artist took time to listen to what I wanted, asked a handful of clarifying questions to make sure he got exactly what I wanted, and took his time to tell me how to adequately take care of my tattoos for proper healing. I will absolutely go back to Aces High and see Jeff if ever I choose to get another.

He introduced a guy with long blond hair who instantly didn't look welcoming it was not a good vibe I felt. I began to tell him what I wanted and showed him what I had drawn up for reference. He said he can't do my tattoo in small text. He kept saying it would have to be this big with showing "this big" with his hands and the text size ( yes text size with his fingers) I couldn't compute or visualize the size on my arm, so I started saying this size and would show him, he seemed annoyed bc we kept talking about size and he actually gave me a tone of THIS SIZE, how many times do I have to show you! So I said you can touch me to show me bc I can't visualize the size you are showing on my arm. (#1 bc it was huge in comparison to what I wanted) he said he don't touch people without permission so he didn't just want to assume, he also didn't ask.. so this added to me getting the vibe he didnt want to do my tattoo. So he actually was meaning to upsize the small tattoo I wanted to a huge half inner arm tattoo for $240!!! The text was Let it Go Let it Out on top of each other. I didn't like his demeanor of not being interested and him changing the tattoo to such a large piece bc it would eventually bleed. Then he wanted to tell me, you'll find someone to do it but I don't bc it eventually bleeds after about two years and doesn't look right. Which another artist at a different shop said the same thing but he ended up doing it larger than I wanted but much smaller than this guy tried to say it had to be(without him thinking it would bleed later). Since I felt from the beginning he didn't want to help me, didn't want to touch me or just show real interest in helping me understand the size needed, him also turning my small dainty typewriter font with 6 words on top of each into a mini sleeve tattoo for $240!! I chose to leave. I don't know if he was up charging me to make more money and using the future bleeding as an excuse, but I just didn't think a small tattoo couldn't be done smaller than what he said with also maintaining the integrity of his work and style. I felt he just wasn't interested in helping me. Let It Go Let it Out or Let it Go Girl Let it Out. = $240 increased size to 2/3 of my inner arm! No thank you.
