Worked with Maryna for a five day reverse board and train with our 4 month old cattle dog. He is very fearful of strangers and she was kind and patient with him. She provided daily pictures, videos and updates. He has a long way to go but we already are seeing improvements!

I signed up for private lessons with Maryna and WOW!! She is amazing!! My corgi puppy was off-the-walls-crazy and she was able to help us understand him and train him according to his needs (he's a play-motivated boy, not food-motivated like most dogs). I am quite experienced with adult dogs (I've had 3 over my lifetime) but having a puppy was a whole new ballgame. Maryna was able to train me with patience and very clear instructions. Through her help, we have learned: recall, sit, stay, down, rollover, pose, and spin. She also brought her own dog to help my little boy learn how to socialize! Above and beyond!! 10/10 recommend to anyone, even if you do have previous experience with dogs. I will definitely ask Maryna for any help with future training!

My pup, Oliver, just graduated from the puppy kindergarten + socialization class with Alyssa Kohler in San Diego. The training for basic skills (sit, down, come, go to bed, leave it, look) was taught through a live Zoom class and Oliver was able to easily pick up the skills with Alyssa's instructions. Plus, Alyssa was able to see all the pups on camera, provide 1:1 real-time feedback, and take questions. What I loved so much about this program was that following the Zoom class, I dropped Oliver off at a 45-minute in-person socialization class where Alyssa and her team taught the dogs how to play together. (I also loved that the socialization classes are organized by size and temperament of the dogs.) The owners don't go in the building (because global pandemic) but can watch their puppies play through Zoom! Such a good experience and I now have a well-trained little guy!

Alyssa is amazing!! I reached out to Karma Dog Training because I want to train my little 8 week old Siberian Husky with positive training methods. And Alyssa did exactly that! Our husky puppy, Violet, had such a fear of dogs that I didn't know how to help her have the confidence to approach even the friendliest dog on her own. So I hired Alyssa to help give Violet the confidence to meet our friend's dog. Within one training session, Violet came completely out of her shell. She started as a shy fearful dog hiding in her crate, to a happy excited puppy just wanting to play with my friend's dog. Thank you Karma Dog Training and thank you Alyssa!!!

Our puppy, happy and content, after another great puppy kindergarten class!

Through the puppy kindergarten class, Ashley Bartlett gave us the tools to be confident and successful with our new puppy. We had never had a puppy before and were pretty nervous when we got our 8-week-old German Shepherd / Husky mix. Before we started the class, he nipped me (but not my boyfriend) constantly; we had no idea how to teach him basic commands; and he was extremely timid around other dogs. By the end of class, his nipping was nonexistent; we had a whole set of commands to communicate with him; and playing with other dogs is now his favorite hobby. We could not recommend this class enough for both new and experienced dog parents. Ashley uses positive reinforcement in her training methods and provides extra tips to try if you are facing a specific issue. She is also incredibly flexible in terms of making up classes, which helped with our busy summer! We definitely plan on continuing the next set of classes, available through Karma Dog, with Ashley!

We are so pleased we chose to use karma dog training for our new puppy Grizzly. It was so important to us that Grizzly got to socialize with other puppies during such a critical time in his development. Karma offered a two part training session that involved an hour long zoom training session and an hour long in-person puppy play session (owners were not present due to Covid, but we got to watch them on zoom which was great!). We were skeptical of doing training virtually but it actually worked out really well as the puppies could really focus on training without the distraction of the other pups. The hour long in person play session was great for building up Grizzly's confidence as well, and he always came home nice and tired! The trainers did an excellent job of putting puppies in groups that played well together. Our trainer Alyssa Kohler was great to work with, and always available for questions about puppy behaviors that we were encountering outside of class. 5 stars! Thanks Karma!

At first we weren't sure of how an online training program would work for our new puppy Koda but our expectations have been surpassed by the training program from Ashley Bartlett. I loved how she broke up into parts the different commands and showed us how to properly set up our Koda for success. I highly recommend this class to new puppy owner, whether they are experienced or not, Ashley will teach you something new with your dog.

Alyssa Kohler was such an amazing trainer for our Jack Russel! She was patient and determined to find the solution to our puppies barking and anxiety on walks. She was flexible with our schedule. She always sent us updates throughout the week on things to work on. Kaia will miss her very much. It was what we looked forward to every week!

Our sweet boy Gus exhausted physically and mentally after a puppy kindergarten session!

My husband and I were starting to get a little panicked with what to do with our 8.5 week old basset hound Gus. We live in an apartment, don't have access to a safe grassy area, and he can't be fully let out until his third set of shots at 14 or 15 weeks -- and yet they're supposed to be socialized by 16 weeks... we were very confused about what to do with this conflicting information. We were delighted coming across Karma Dog Training, and specifically Aimee and Diana's Puppy Kindergarten class, which is held in La Jolla. Gus gets plenty of time to play, socialize, and get out that puppy energy, as well as learn some skills. They are wonderful. Not to mention, I've started getting really invested in the other puppies in the class -- it's so lovely to see them all growing and improving each week! Highly recommend!!

    Nailing his place training! :)

We just recently completed a private training package with Maryna and it has been a complete game-changer for our entire family. Puppyhood has been a real challenge for us...from the endless nipping and crazy nervous energy to managing our pup being very reactive while on leash, on top of being a non-socialized COVID puppy - we were at a complete loss. Maryna helped us to turn that completely around. We learned so much and while it is a continuous process to train, Maryna has given us the strong foundation we need to navigate new situations and to continue to reinforce and train established skills. We cannot recommend Maryna more highly. She has made such a profound difference for us...and for our Jedi! We cannot be happier or more grateful.

He says his passion is helping people and their dogs, and I have no doubt about that. A month after separating from my partner and moving out to my own place, my leash aggressive, two year-old cane corso, Zeke, lunged at another dog in my apartment complex and took me with him. Fortunately, aside from a few cuts and bruises I sustained, everyone was OK. But the anxiety and emotional trauma that was left behind made me avoid taking Zeke out for walks all together and when I did my hands would start shaking. Thinking that I would be able to do it in my own, I watched hours and hours of dog training videos and even tried using an E collar, none of it helped. Not only were things stressful outside of the house, but inside of it too. My 14 year-old cocker spaniel and poodle mix, Lexi, is very reactive towards Zeke. Because her senses are not what they used to be. She has even mistaken me for Zeke and has snapped at me. The thought of me potentially losing my apartment, having to give up Zeke, and the fear that Lexi may accidentally bite one of my children caused even more stress on top of what I was already going through from the separation, so I knew I needed to get professional help. After just one phone call with Justin I already felt a weight lifted from my shoulders. We have only been working together for two weeks and have already seen improvement, not only with Zeke's responsiveness to corrections while on walks but with my confidence in leading my pups to a calm and happy life. Justin really set me up for success by giving me tools, demo videos, and tips - making me confident in my ability to correct Zeke's leash reactivity. Walks with Zeke are so much more calm for us both! So grateful for what Justin does and how he does it. He is so responsive and genuine, really making us a team with the same goals! Can't recommend him enough! THANK YOU, Justin!

Are they under new ownership? What has changed?…read more We've used Camp Run-A-Mutt several times over the years for overnight boarding and have always had a great experience, which is why this recent stay was so surprising. When making the reservation, I noticed that a few of my dog's vaccinations would expire during his stay. We took care of getting them updated weeks in advance and made sure the vaccination certificates were sent to Camp Run-A-Mutt. I even confirmed with a staff member at the front desk that they had received everything and that my dog was all set for his stay. A few days before our trip, I received a call saying my dog was missing vaccinations. I asked which ones, and of course they were the very vaccinations we had already updated and submitted. I explained that they had the records, the employee put me on hold, then came back and confirmed everything was in order and said they'd see him on Thursday. Then things got even more frustrating. On Thursday, as I was landing in another state for my vacation, my daughter--who was dropping my dog off before catching her own flight--called me in a panic. She was being told they couldn't accept him because his rabies vaccine wasn't up to date. I immediately called the facility and explained that we had already confirmed his records twice. The employee put me on hold, checked the records, and sure enough, they had his current rabies certificate the entire time. They admitted everything was up to date and accepted him. A few days later, while we were still out of state, I received another call saying my dog was being quarantined and separated from the other dogs because his vaccinations supposedly weren't current. At this point, this was the third time in less than a week that the exact same issue had come up. I again explained that his vaccinations were current and that their staff had already confirmed this multiple times. The employee put me on hold and never came back to the phone. Thankfully, my daughter was only a few hours away and was able to rush over and pick him up. When I called to pay for his stay over the phone and let them know he was being picked up, I was initially told they couldn't accept payment over the phone. That was confusing because I've paid over the phone for previous stays without any issue. When I asked if it was a new policy, the employee admitted it wasn't--they just didn't know how to process a phone payment. They had to get someone else to help before I was finally able to pay. I'm honestly not sure what's changed, but the organization and communication were completely different from the excellent service we've received in the past. The repeated confusion over vaccination records--which they already had on file and repeatedly confirmed--caused unnecessary stress while my family was traveling out of state and ultimately resulted in our dog being removed from daycare and picked up early. We've always been happy with Camp Run-A-Mutt, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I hope this was just an isolated breakdown in communication, but based on our recent experience, I no longer feel confident leaving my dog there.
