Security staff seem alright, haven't had any issue with them. Entry fee is as extortionate as you might expect, I'm sure it was more than a tenner to get in, but you'll have that. Music choice was pretty good, I believe we were in the second floor dance area and they were playing a good mix of oldies. It's very student oriented so I wouldn't go there if I was over 23 really.

When you go in, a man frisks you, paying particular attention to your hips and ankles but not really the rest of you, so you could have two shoulders in your back pockets and not necessarily get caught. It was a tenner in (on account of their monopoly, I daresay), and once inside the door, the place was not dissimilar to the upstairs of that pub on Parnell St, the closest one to O'Connell St where they have all the gigs, you know the one I'm talking about. Anyhow, this left us the teeniest bit disappointed, as we were in the humour for a proper nightclub rather than a live music venue (though the band that were playing were a very serviceable covers band). We stood around for a couple of minutes until one my friends discovered a the nightclub proper, which the owners had for some reason contrived to hide away in the back. Maybe so you'll be pleasantly surprised to stumble across it as we were, who knows? The nightclub was contained on one level, but was really big for that. I have no recollection of what the music was like, but i do remember that there was one really aggressive short guy, and that the bouncers were all enormous men in tuxedos. And the women: who'd have thought that the Co. Offaly was home to so many fine young ladies? So, all in all, The Core made for an offaly good night (couldn't resist, sorry). The Boom Boom Room, that's the place on Parnell St that I was trying to think of. So yeah, just inside the entrance of The Core is like the Boom Boom Room, though that seems like somewhat of a moot point now.

She was making eye contact with us and ignoring us on purpose! After an hour of waiting I asked if she could finally take our order, she claimed she had to follow a "rotation" apparently that rotation means serving everyone who came in after me! I was very disappointed that I spent so much money at that bar, just to have my night ruined by her! Terrible terrible human and terrible customer service. Also I bought 2 drinks for 37$ and and when I asked for refills they charged me the same and put them in smaller glasses. DO NOT GO! All the memories and reasons came flooding back to me of why I don't go there and never will again! I was lured under the pretence that the drinks were 3euro-they weren't! Had to pay in and pay for your jacket - there was an angry looking bouncer who made sure I dropped in my jacket. So we ended up in the 80's 90's bar. The music was still the same as it was two years ago. You can be assured they play men at work, "land down under". I don't have a big problem with this sing but when it's played ad nauseum it can get annoying! Not only that though the DJ's skills involved pressing play on a selection of mix cds that were stacked beside the dj booth. I remember when it used to be jammers every Saturday night but this particular Saturday half the floors were closed and it was pretty empty which made it feel pretty pathetic and the crowd small crowd that were there mainly consisted of under agers. It's on Main Street, it is like an old church or castle keep inside with some wonderful wooden floors and on different levels with a few stairs to negotiate as you go in and around. While Its charming I'm not sure it's disabled friendly, particularly with the toilets two floors down. We were welcomed literally as we walked in the front door, given our choice of tables to sit at, we chose near a front window down 2 or 3 stairs and our drinks order taken with menus handed over and explained to us, all with panache. Now we thought that's the way to do it right. We both opted for their buttermilk southern fried chicken supreme, which came with wonderful chunky chips, my favourite tobacco onions and a robust lemon pepper mayonnaise. Essentially we had an upmarket lightly seasoned chicken breast burger & chips with heavily flavoured mayonnaise from a jar, but don't get me wrong, it was beautiful tasty food with every element cooked perfectly, and we enjoyed it very much. If you are going to use mayo from a jar it really needs to be well flavoured as it's only a vehicle for other flavours. Everything on the plate was delicious, and most importantly done with thought and done well - this is a confident cook. I asked for and got Colman's English mustard, the worlds greatest mustard bar none. Service was great, seating cosy, the pub filled up with dinner guests as we sat and my cappuccino was very good too. It was obvious from conversations that some were regulars, which is also a good sign. We wouldn't hesitate to return here. Finally being a bit of a food snob and I self admit to being a general pain in the derrière there's two things I'd add. This chef is so confident (and skilled) why not make mayo in-house; a rapeseed oil mayonnaise would be marvellous, and it may just have been my misfortune but my chicken burger was served with a knife through the top with the tobacco onions held on the top of the bread bun, but this made the handle of my knife oily. I had to wipe oil of the handle and my hands as I started to eat. This is minor and a nuisance but hey-ho first world problems.

He recommended a few entrees. I ordered the beef medallions with onion strings. Loved it! My wife had the fettuccine with chicken. Both large portions. Don't forget about the FREE wifi.

What can you say about the Queens? It's the only nightclub in Ennis so if you are going to a…read morenightclub, you have to go here. Not the worst place in the world but reminds me a bit of Coppers in Dublin, and by that I mean every time I go here I never plan to go here but just end up here after everything else is closing down.
