The front office is very well organized and is always happy to spend time explaining things or finding me the perfect appointment time. I can call and talk to them right away and they're always so professional and kind! They are so knowledgeable and Have to help me so much with navigating insurance issues! The dental staff are always so sweet and are so lovely to talk to! I always appreciate how peace they help make me feel! Seriously, the most kind of staff! Dr Do is incredible! She ALWAYS goes above and beyond! I get very stressed about Work being done and she's never pushed unnecessary work on me. She tells me the pros and cons to different options and lets me process what's best for me. I appreciate how she thinks of long-term solutions instead of quick Band-Aids on things. She's also just a fun person to talk to and feels like a friend! The office is so clean and cute! There's a little fury tank that the kids love and comfortable couch and chairs to wait in. Maybe the best part is there is the sweetest office doggie! He has that hypoallergenic fur and is so love able. He sits on my lap sometimes when they Are working on my teeth and I just get to pet him and feel at ease. I truly would never go to another dentist office after going to Dr. Do's!

I've also since needed further endodontic work on two teeth crowned here. I know dental outcomes can be unpredictable, but it added to my overall hesitation. - Communication: I was asked to arrive 30 minutes early, requiring me to leave work. I later learned it wasn't for a medical need, but so staff could practice using a new 3D modeling tool. A simple heads-up would have been appreciated. - Administration: The office forgot to process a cancellation and attempted to charge me a no-show fee until I corrected them. Overall, I've moved to a new practice and am much happier with the care.

I had a tooth pulled and a couple of cavities filled by Dr. Shyba. The process was unnecessarily…read morepainful. The dentist I have now (Five Gables on Mission) is incredibly gentle and numbs my mouth with gel before inserting the needle that numbers the gums, making the experience completely painless. In contrast, the work done by Shyba felt so harsh and rough, and when he pulled my tooth, it felt like a pair of construction pliers trying to rip a tooth out. It took about 45mins to pull one tooth. I also developed a pretty nasty infection. My new dentist tells me it is a protocol to prescribe antibiotics even before a tooth removal to ensure one does not have a chance to fester. I was never prescribed antibiotics by Dr.Shyba. I noticed an extreme amount of pain and a foul smell, sent photos, and went into the office to have Shyba look at it. I also have a very high pain tolerance, so when I think something hurts, it's incredibly alarming. He brushed me off and said it was normal. It wasn't until the infection smelled like a rotting carcass that I was finally taken seriously in a checkup on my tooth removal. He didn't apologize for how long it took to take me seriously. One positive note- The front office staff were always very kind.

I followed up the visit with a dentist I had been seeing in the North Bay for some years (for a second opinion), recommended by another dentist I had seen for over ten years. He told me I had no cavities and all of the work proposed was unnecessary, other than for cosmetic purposes. I found an honest dentist who met my needs very well in Aptos.
