Secondly, you probably already know that almost all of these facilities suck and are many flavors of sketchy. NOT this place. The Orchards gives off a whole different and positive vibe from the start when you walk in the main entrance. Everything is clean, actually clean, even the patient bathrooms, closets, behind the doors, everywhere is clean. The ratio of staff to patients is SO MUCH better than other facilities my family member has been too. I believe there's maximum 50 patients. The bedrooms are next level. They have 4-5 options ranging from a shared room with two people, to completely private with your own bathroom and living room/lounge area, obviously at a higher price point. But even the shared bedrooms are awesome as they have a closet/cabinet that divides the room, not just a sheet. Makes it so much better to have that division. ***Most importantly the Rehab staff is AMAZING!!!*** The amount of effort and thought they put into the individuals rehabilitation program is far greater than any other facility we have been to. They aren't trying to milk the process and allow people to just sit doing non productive activities just so they can bill for it. They're constantly assessing and evolving the game plan as they go. 10/10 best team of therapists. hands down. bar none. The staff communicates extremely clearly and reach out if they have pertinent info in regards to my family members health, progress, and well being. Which is something I've never experienced, usually I have to track people down and it's like pulling teeth to get answers or info. The food is good, and comparably to other places it's the best menu I've seen. Don't get me wrong it's not gourmet living but they have solid options. When you see a plate of food, it actually looks a cooked meal, not school lunch slop. They also have off menu items like sandwiches and what not if your family member is a picky eater. If you got this far in my Mega novel of a review then you obviously are deep in the process and looking for answers. Again, sending you all my good energy and if you can get your family member into The Orchards, don't hesitate and end up in another depressing SH**hole, pull the trigger and give your family member the best chance at success. Every single staff member was wonderful and truly went above and beyond. Sara K, Elizabeth (Liz), and Dee were exceptional--compassionate, attentive, and always making sure my mom felt cared for and supported. Heather, Fiona, and Lisa were equally amazing in PT and OT; their expertise, encouragement, and dedication played a huge role in her recovery. Our only regret is that we can't return on a private-pay basis to continue PT/OT, because my mom left stronger than when she arrived. Sarah Underwood brought her warm smile, calming disposition, and expertise to me and my family during an uncertain time. Sarah explained the process, offered a "what we could expect," and answered a plethora of questions regarding caregiving. My family was not 100% sure of the direction we were going to take with my mom since moving to a different state was also an option. Sarah did not pressure us and gave us the time we needed to make the best decision for my mom.. and dad, who at 90 wanted to still take care of everything on his own. As it happened, my mom ended up being admitted to the hospital and then transferred to a rehab center. When Sarah found out where, she paid a visit to my mom in the facility, held her hand and had a good talk. She completely didn't have to, but did anyway. FYI.. I have a picture of their two beautiful smiles! And if that wasn't enough, I was having a tough time getting in touch with a representative at the facility (since I live out of state) Sarah came to the rescue. She got a hold of someone to reach out to me. Sarah Underwood is wonderful- inside and out and a beautiful representation of the company's standard of care. Families first, and it shows!

After being texted, "I'm creating the care plan now and we will keep you posted," I didn't hear from them for three days. Then, while I'm beginning my day of caregiving for my loved one the doorbell rings and, SURPRISE!, their caregiver arrived without any announcement or warning. I was completely shocked and when the caregiver (who was nice) called the office who talked me into letting her stay. Of course, instead of the respite I wanted, now I had to deal with an upset loved one and an unplanned arrival. This actually made this one of the worst days I've had in a long time because I had no idea anyone would show up. I should have sent her away but I was too flummoxed to think straight. Anyway, Chamberlin did make sure to charge my credit card for this unwanted, unrequested visit. I canceled the contract and highly recommend against dealing with this company. In fact, now I'm kind of afraid to even ask for help again knowing that the first time I turned out to be quite a hindrance rather than assistance. ADDENDUM: After this review was posted I was contacted by the owner of the company who wanted me to remove this review. He offered a refund if I would take it down. I felt that to be an ethics violation and refused. He did seem sincere in wanting to make things right although the damage was done. I've re-read my original review and still vouch to its accuracy and honesty. I just learned a refund was issued without preconditions. My experience was still horrid but it's possible it was a learning experience for the company. (I personally learned nothing that will help my situation.) Anyway, I'm changing the rating from to two stars instead of one in with the hope this will not happen to someone else.

There seemed to be confusion in the sales office between a couple of salespeople, but I didn't realize until I reflected later. We went and saw the property, it was definitely within our means, so we started the process to move mom in. We were given such a run around by them because we were trying to move her in as soon as possible, her Newport Beach house had sold and she needed a new home. There were so many delays and so much bullshit. Her doctor and give the ok for her to go to assisted living, but the LVN and clerical team, decided her doctor didn't know enough and they declared she needed more help and they couldn't assist her. It turned out to be a blessing, because she moved in to Vivante Luxury Assisted living, in Newport near where her home was. We later saw all the complaints against HP, and felt we dodged a bullet. At Vivante they have Chef Prepared meals, so much going on, elegant town car transportation to appointments and excellent care. Before considering HP, sample a meal there and really look at the activities and notice the level of participation. Then look at other spots,like Encinitas, and check out Vivante. You'll be glad you did the research.
