Although we didn't end up using Chamberlain Care, I wanted to write this review to highlight the reasons why anyone looking for caregiving services should put Chamberlain Care at the top of their list. Sarah Underwood brought her warm smile, calming disposition, and expertise to me and my family during an uncertain time. Sarah explained the process, offered a "what we could expect," and answered a plethora of questions regarding caregiving. My family was not 100% sure of the direction we were going to take with my mom since moving to a different state was also an option. Sarah did not pressure us and gave us the time we needed to make the best decision for my mom.. and dad, who at 90 wanted to still take care of everything on his own. As it happened, my mom ended up being admitted to the hospital and then transferred to a rehab center. When Sarah found out where, she paid a visit to my mom in the facility, held her hand and had a good talk. She completely didn't have to, but did anyway. FYI.. I have a picture of their two beautiful smiles! And if that wasn't enough, I was having a tough time getting in touch with a representative at the facility (since I live out of state) Sarah came to the rescue. Terrible service! I met with someone who seemed nice and took down all my information, most insistent about the billing information. After being texted, "I'm creating the care plan now and we will keep you posted," I didn't hear from them for three days. Then, while I'm beginning my day of caregiving for my loved one the doorbell rings and, SURPRISE!, their caregiver arrived without any announcement or warning. I was completely shocked and when the caregiver (who was nice) called the office who talked me into letting her stay. Of course, instead of the respite I wanted, now I had to deal with an upset loved one and an unplanned arrival. This actually made this one of the worst days I've had in a long time because I had no idea anyone would show up. I should have sent her away but I was too flummoxed to think straight. Anyway, Chamberlin did make sure to charge my credit card for this unwanted, unrequested visit. I canceled the contract and highly recommend against dealing with this company. In fact, now I'm kind of afraid to even ask for help again knowing that the first time I turned out to be quite a hindrance rather than assistance. ADDENDUM: After this review was posted I was contacted by the owner of the company who wanted me to remove this review. He offered a refund if I would take it down. I felt that to be an ethics violation and refused. He did seem sincere in wanting to make things right although the damage was done. I've re-read my original review and still vouch to its accuracy and honesty. I just learned a refund was issued without preconditions. My experience was still horrid but it's possible it was a learning experience for the company. (I personally learned nothing that will help my situation.) Allison has been an amazing companion for my mother.. She brought joy, comfort, and compassion to the last months of her life. As her health declined and her body became weak , Allison gave her moments of authentic joy that was memorialized in pictures and videos, she would regularly send to us. Despite the age difference and cultural differences, a bond between them was formed that will forever be remembered. When we couldn't be there, the family knew that our mother was with someone she trusted; who appreciated and cared for her as if she was a beloved grandmother. Allison went out of her way to provide for our mother's emotional, psychological and physical needs. We have lost our Mother but found a friendship we hope will flourish. I have recently hired Chamberlin Care to help with my 99 year old mother who is going through hospice. I cannot say enough about the level of professionalism that they show. Every touchpoint - scheduling - in home care - help with long term insurance - is provided in a timely and efficient manner. The entire team has been incredible in helping us figure out a care plan for our dad after some health issues. Melissa and Matt are extremely responsive and helped us find the right fit for our dad. The caregivers have been wonderful and my dad has been very pleased with everything. The caregivers assist with exercise, showering, reminding of medicines and general help around the house. We love Chamberlin Care! We are helping a great couple, who both have dementia, stay in the comfort of their home. They have no children so we are a group of close family friends, who are helping them. A social worker referred us to Chamberlin Care and I'm truly grateful for that! I first called the number on the website and Ben answered which surprised me, usually you speak to a representative. But Ben answered all my questions and connected me with Stephanie who did the assessment. She is incredible, and constantly checks up to see how we are doing and how the couple is doing. We are more in touch with Melissa, she schedules the caretakers and she works very hard to accommodate all of us. I don't know how she does it but Melissa is amazing!! We haven't had any complaints about the caretakers or the company itself. They are truly wonderful and the couple is in the best care they deserve! I currently have around the clock care for my 93 year old Uncle with Chamberlin Care. It took going thru a few caregivers to find the right fit but we have an amazing team that takes care of him. I had a very positive experience with Chamberlin Care. When my mother-in-law was in hospice in our home, she suddenly stopped walking. A hospice nurse told me I would need a night nurse immediately to enable me to sleep. This was new territory for me and I was really overwhelmed as to how to begin. Her healthcare provider recommended Chamberlin Care and I called them up. I was surprised that the owner, Ben, didn't transfer my call to someone on his team, but took the time to answer my many questions on how their company works. I decided I felt confident in this company and they were the only call I would make. I began service the next night. Teresa was our case manager and went out to our home to introduce herself and see if there were any special needs or requests we needed as a family that they could include in her care. Melissa called me up to see what my scheduling needs were and I was surprised that I could set my own hours and schedule with them and can change them as needed. She then scheduled three different caretakers for me within the first week so I could see which person felt right for us and my mother-in-law. That was very helpful as each of them had their own unique personality and manner of care, but were all very qualified in their ability to care for her. I even asked Melissa if I could add on a few daytime shifts when we had a busy week and she happily complied by scheduling a day nurse for us. We were touched when all staff reached out to us to express their condolences when she passed away. It's hard to entrust the care of a loved one to someone you don't know but Chamberlin has been professional and caring throughout the time I've used them. They periodically call to check back and see if caregiving is still going as initially planned and I am happy to give a very positive reference for this company. I have previously employed caregivers on my own through care.com, as well as used 2 other agencies. In my opinion, Chamberlin has a more family caring approach to providing caregivers. The initial intake visit was detailed and I was given the opportunity to be specific about what was needed for our situation.
