I would give zero stars if possible. No one ever answers the phone there- cannot get through to anyone. No one comes and checks on the patients they are screaming and yelling and it is absolute chaos. Would never allow any family member to have to go here. Do not send your loved ones I also got hung up on my a nurse when trying to express frustration with the lack of communication. read more

We needed to transfer my older sister from a facility in N CA so she could be near me. We had no idea where to place her but were referred to Kay at Capistrano Beach Care Center by Teresa at Sunrise Senior Living in Mission Viejo. Both were incredibly helpful and might as well have been guardian angels. My sister has been there for a few days now and is being well taken care of--a vast difference from what happened in N CA. Staff is very good: they care and have treated us and my sister with respect. Physical therapy excellent. This is not my first rodeo. I took care of my mother-in-law, mother, and wife, so I know something about care facilities. (One that was excellent has now closed, so we were at square one.) Day nurses are Fabulous!!! Best care ever! Night time nurses are non-existent, ignore patient requests, and don't answer their phones! Phones! Has had several urgent health issues at the evening and no help from nurses for hours! Also, the office is the worst ever! They don't answer their calls, they don't return their calls or messages. Messages. And if you go in person too bad they are never there. Is not going to happen. They just ignore you because they don't want you to work on a care plan to get your family member home. They want them just to stay there forever regardless.. I don't know if you want to get your yourself into this mess unless you have to. read more

My wife was admitted here after spinal surgery. I have no idea why she was sent here and why this facility even accepted her. The staff was totally unable to help her with just the very basics. She couldn't eat, but they brought her food anyway and she never did get fed. There was also no IV so they could not feed her that way either. I had her removed to another hospital and they worked very hard to help her get the care she couldn't/didn't get here. I don't know whose at fault for this horrible situation, but I didn't see anyone at this facility do anything to help. read more

This year 2024 Christmas party was so awesome. The whole nursing home was so beautifully decorated and you could feel the happy holiday energy. Myrna Anderson the Activities Director and her assistant Rylee O'Connor put together an entire program of live Christmas entertainment of piano and singer. All the while the whole community room was packed out, the tables full of linens, fresh flowers, decorations, and bell necklaces for little bits of cheer ay every place setting. Santa Claus was magical, and all the residents with their family members were full of joy and laughter. Presents were passed out to every resident and fully beautifully wrapped and personally handed out by Santa. A full plated luncheon was given to all family members that was so delicious! The residents also enjoyed their specialy prepared holiday food setved with love. The CBCC staff was so over the top excellent in serving. From the greeting at the front desk, to all the CNA,s to the administrative staff and the awesome kitchen staff! Great Job CBCC staff!!! Thank you so much! read more

My grandma was there for 2 weeks and she received great care from all the staff, including nurses and PT/OT team. The care staff was very compassionate and made her feel welcome. When we would visit she would say everyone was very nice. The transfer from the hospital to there facility was very smooth as well. read more

I have worked with this facility for many years now, but it seems that the new management has immediately made huge strides in care quality. I have seen patients come and go, but none as satisfied as they have been lately. There have also been aesthetic changes, which are pleasing to my patients and their families. Another new addition is that the directors are motivating patients to participate more in activities and meals. They are encouraged to eat meals in the common and formal dining area. Most staff at this care center work very hard to keep up with the needs of so very many patients. I do believe they are understaffed, especially at night. You really have to be on top of your loved one's care needs, because details get overlooked. I had to ask the nurses to check for bedsores on mom's backside. Sure enough, one was forming. After that the nurse provided wound care and extra re-positioning. I'd recomend having friends/ family members stay in the room w/ patient as much as possible round the clock. It helpe in this case and cinfirmed that the best place for mom was at home with family. It was a perfect decision. read more

Lisa nor any other staff were caring mostly stayed at the front desk chit chatting while patients are unattended, hanging half on the bed by a bar from ceiling screaming for help another patient screaming help I'm out of oxygen yet another pacing the floor how to get out of this wretched place. Food delivered late medications for one patient was shared with another patient and I quote from Lisa "I'll grab your medications from another patient's lockbox" on more than one occasion. Not only are the staff unbelievable the place was run down with half painted walls with patch work, out of date hand sanitizer one could smell through an n95 mask, old medical beds WithOut brakes! This place is a joke! Do yourself a favor and find a better place. This place needs to be condemned! Yea condemned! read more

My mom was here for a couple of weeks. It was a good experience in the beginning until I brought up my concerns to Gretchen at the nurse station. She pretends she listens to you and pretends she takes notes on the computer where she sat. It took me 5 conversations with her and still did not get my issues corrected. I had to speak with the head of nursing and have her fix my moms medications. Since then, Gretchen treated us poorly. She gave me this disgusted look on her face and her eyes rolling when she sees me. It's a disgrace to this facility having someone treat the patients family members this way. She's rude and a big B. She thinks she runs the place. I had to take my mom out of there shortly after. read more

My MIL did respite care here after an infection, and was clear that she loved this place. The staff was friendly and caring, and all of my MILs needs were met. The food was great. Seriously. The facility is old, but that's ok. Some of the staff is nice, but many not so good. The food is awful. Sometimes there is no hot water. Sometimes it takes the staff a long time to respond to the call button. Calling the nurse's station is frustrating, because no one answers the phone. read more

Although there were several nice staff members this is the most depressing place I have ever seen. We had y mom here for four days too long before we moved her. The staff are severely overworked. A nurse told me that usually they have 16-18 patients but this one day she had 40! When you ask for help it takes for ever to get it. Their beds are TERRIBLE! The food is like prison food -no joke! But I bet prison food is better. We were so uncomfortable leaving my mom alone there that we stayed from 7:30 am until 10pm each day until We moved her to a new rehab location. All the employees know how bad it is too. It's so sad. Please avoid this location at all costs! read more

After 6 days in the hospital with Covid that literally attacked and weakened my leg muscles, I was transferred to the Capo Beach Care for isolation for the last 4 days of Covid. In terms of the isolation, I had a really nice large room and the care they took to protect themselves when anyone came into the room as well as well as for myself was stellar. Because of 6 days in the hospital, my doctors didn't know how much my walking was affected. While in isolation, PT came to the room each day so I would have exercise including in the room walking with a moveable walker. I also was given exercises to strengthen my arms and core. Once out of isolation, I was brought to the physical therapy department.To my surprise, they have a very large staff and I always felt they had my health and rehabilitation in mind. The food was OK, but they were very attentive if I wanted a snack. The facility is very clean. While working on strengthening my walking, I would do at least 8-10 full loops within the hospital with the walker to strengthen my legs. This afforded me the opportunity to view virtually all areas of the hospital. All areas I viewed were clean. I was in the facility for 15 days. I was able walk perfectly well upon release . There are so many fine folks I can give a shout out to who were absolutely wonderful. One nurse, who made sure I was always on the path to recovery and a stellar professional is Joan Walter. Thank you Joan so very much. I highly recommend this care facility. read more

Amazing rehab center that truly cares!!! My uncle came here after having a mild stroke. He had to regain strength & mobility in his right arm & leg. The nurses are incredibly attentive & accommodating. Arianna, Edward, Edwin & Emilio were exceptional, caring, hard-working humans that provided PT & OT for him. The kitchen staff were also great, prepping healthy & yummy meals for all patients. So thankful we found this place. Peace of mind is priceless. Highly recommend!!! read more

I moved a friend there from another facility in Laguna Hills. I felt like the previous place was just going to let my friend die. After a few days at Capistrano Cares, the difference was noticeable. After a month, the difference is miraculous. I'm sure it's a group effort, but the most involved people seem to be Mary (Case Manager) and Rue (Social Services Director). My mother was admitted here for physical therapy and relatively easy care after a abdominal surgery. Mark is the administrator and I have yet to know who the DON (Director of nursing) is. My mother was there for 3 days before she had a delirium induced episode caused by a untreated pulmonary infection leading to sepsis. She currently lays in ICU. I question how a RN staff failed to identify a serious infection causing delirium, fevers and a very bad respiratory cough. She had a white blood cell count 3 times what it should be. Once my mother slipped into confusion and hallucinations from the infection and caused damaged to property or staff Mark then called my elderly grandparents to pick up my mother who could hardly walk. Are they not trained to identify a medical emergency? Are they not trained to call 911? I called mark with admissions to address these issues with the DON and figure out what their procedures are in identifying a very ill patient and like a little scared boy he hung up on me. I have filed a complaint with the California Department of Public Health. A life is nothing to play with. If you care for yours or a family members you will not send them to this facility. read more

They don't know where he is I call back at 4:20.... They don't know; they put me on hold for six minutes They still don't know where he is I said "did you check his room?" Having a family member injured and in need of skilled nursing is a bad experience. Being here at capo beach care center was a very good place to be. Mom got excellent care by nurses , CNA's, Physical therapy and every one we came in contact with. Babette in social services was helpful from beginning to end. The facility is old and antiquated. I needed rehabilitation after surgery and this was the last of the two places that had an opening. There is no air-conditioning and the beds are terrible. (Although reception and dining room are deceiving.) The rooms have large noisy fans that stay on all night. There is no restriction on Tv time so there's a possibility that you can have the noisy fan and if your neighbor wants to listen to the TV all day & night, she can. I also had a neighbor who wanted the sliding door opened 24 hours a day and the screen door was broken and couldn't close nor lock, so we were vulnerable to any predators in the area. (The screen door stayed broken.) The food was terrible and the eggs for breakfast were always cold. Thank goodness my family brought me food every day. The can only bathe you twice a week. The day I was to leave the home they were not going to take me into the shower and I had to threaten the girl by telling her I was not leaving unless I got my shower. One day at midnight, I needed medical attention (I'll spare you the personal details) and they replied by telling me I'd have to wait till morning. Problem resolved after much complaining. I stayed two weeks and I cannot imagine the care I would receive if I was older with dementia. read more

This year is especially difficult to have a loved one in a Skilled Nursing Facility, you can not go inside, so you would think that each patient would have a phone. They do not. There is one phone for a "floor". There were days that I could not reach my dad and I would not get a call back from the nurse either. My dad ended up back in the hospital from a catheter that was left in to long and he got a terrible infection. To top it all off, when I went back to retrieve my dad's wallet. The money was gone. Do not leave a loved one here. read more

My sister in law was here for six months. 90 percent of the staff is great. They were professional and helped her with her needs. (There are two people that should find another job!! A female nurse and a male CNA) If the director wants to know they can contact me. They have improved the food with the new owners. I was impressed. They make dining hall have a restaurant feel. The night shift is understaffed so hopefully they will work on that. The Physical Therapy crew were positive, patient and helpful. We appreciate everything they did. Myrna runs the activities. This is so important for the residents. She is positive, energetic and truly makes the residents feel loved. They enjoy activities keeping their mind working and even wheelchair movement games. This was my sister in laws favorite time of day. They lost a fantastic person in social services but, Crystal has stepped in. She is very sweet, helpful and made the transition out go smoothly. Hopefully, they will give her an assistant so she doesn't burn out. read more

I am the current Infection Preventionist Nurse in CAPO and so far working in capo is the best decision ive ever made. I live in Garden Grove but i dont mind driving all the way in CAPO to work because the people who works here are just simply PHENOMENAL! We dont treat each other like just co-workers but we treat each other as family. We work as a team to try help better the residents. I wasn't sure about this place in the beginning as I noticed there were some things that weren't taken care of despite being mentioned it few times to the staff. Boy they proved me wrong. I think this facility has one of the best staffs in the skilled nursing homes. Haideh Mirzapouris who is a speech therapist is absolutely wonderful. She knows what she is doing and is very kind. Ali who is a nurse there does such an amazing job. She really care about the patients. My dad is recovering faster than anticipated coz of the wonderful staffs and his own strong will power. He's happy there. I was also very impressed with Greg who is owner of this facility for his prompt response and fixing situation quickly. I highly recommend this facility. read more

I am an RN working as an MDS coordinator here with Sequoia. I am coming up on 3 months and my experience has been very good. The owner is on site (no business manager) which means actions are immediate. The owner has demonstrated his care for patients and staff. His focus has been on raising the quality of food for the patients and upgrading the building for functionality and eye appeal.
