Our family wholeheartedly acknowledge Sensei Wayne and the KFA staff, especially Bao, for providing unparalleled support to our child, Allison. My little girl is a committed child, and practices often. Her unwavering commitment to regular Kata practice is truly commendable. During her last class, MICHAEL, one of the black belts, made an astute observation that Allison may be left foot dominant, consistent with her "goofy" boarding stance and natural inclination towards her left leg. As the belt test approaches (it is next week), I called to see if one of the wonderful staff members could help my sweet girl practice. Bao kindly assisted Allison in refining her technique to better align with her strengths. As my people would say, "what a mensch". Under the guidance of Bao, Michelle and Emily, helped Allison effectively relearn the kata, resulting in significantly enhanced confidence and anticipation for the test. Our family is so grateful to the entire KFA team for their exceptional support and dedication to Allison's progress. The staff, Sensei wayne, and their volunteers are truly caring, compassionate, and genuinely love working with kids. Sensei Wayne is also a practicing OT, and works with kids with special needs. My daughter doesn't have needs, however I WANTED the guy with the TOP CERTS. Parents: would you prefer the guy with top certs in the medical field in addition to his many accomplishments in martial arts, including but not limited to, multiple black belts? Or some random guy who might be good. Think about it. I'm a Jewish/Asian mom, and will NEVER subject my child to mediocrity... ONLY THE BEST for my little princess/karate kid. Anyhow, Allison LOVES going to class as she loves to learn, has made some good friends within the KFA community (the kids are SO sweet & so are the parents), and is feeling more confident by the day. KFA is a wonderful dojo with a wonderful sensei and staff who have taught so much to our kids. We were recommended this place years ago by a friend and we often recommend it to others (we've actually referred a couple of new students). It's friendly and safe, without a lot of pressure, they focus on anti-bullying and standing up for yourself, but they still cover the essentials and bring in concepts from other martial arts. It is truly a great karate program. Our son already has gotten his black belt and is still continuing to this day. This is a great place for kids to learn, the owner Sansei Wayne cares about his students and staff. My son with ASD didn't know how to jump 3 years ago and with years of effort, he can jump both legs, either leg, frog jump, rabbit jump, and many moves he didn't know before. I think martial arts training is great for my kid. So great that I also enroll in the parent class. I have been spreading the word and last Sunday my son met his friend from his ABA clinic who is enrolled in the same class with him now. I am glad that another kid is being helped with the martial arts approach. I am a big fan of the dojo and this dojo is amazing. I've seen dramatic improvements in my since he started KofA. Being a former martial arts practitioner, I was concerned my son wouldn't learn the "real deal" and might focus more on a watered-down system. My concerns were instantly eliminated when I witnessed students doing perfect Taigyoku Shodan and Taigyoku Nidan in class. My son loves to practice at home, and katas are a fantastic way to improve his bilateral coordination and memory. If my son were to have attended a strip mall school, I'm sure he wouldn't have been able to progress in the fashion he has here. They strive to have a 1:1 ratio of teachers to students, and each of the instructors is trained in working with children with special needs. There is a beautiful mix of students in the class, but no matter your child's abilities, they will thrive.
