We love USSD! Especially Sensei Anthony. My son started karate when he was 5. After 3 years he took a little break. He's back now and is so happy to be able to train with Sensei Anthony again and all the Senseis at USSD Woodbridge. It is a fun yet challenging atmosphere. My son has learned much more than karate spending time here. I believe any child interested in karate would enjoy being a part of this fantastic dojo.

My 8 year old daughter has been taking classes here for 8 months and we couldn't be happier with this place. The senseis and sempais are fantastic. Sensei Vlad and Sensei Ryan are very knowledgeable. They motivate the kids in very fun ways and at the same time they teach discipline, hard work and perseverance. We recently celebrated my daughter's birthday at the dojo. It was the perfect birthday party every kid dreams of. I kept thinking to myself, I wanted to be a kid again so that I could participate as well. The senseis were extremely fun. They were rolling around on the floor with the kids playing monkey tag games. They made the birthday girl feel very special by letting her break a board in front of all her buddies and chop the cake with a ninja sword. They also played light saber games and all the guests got to keep their own light sabers. They took care of all the food, cake and party favors. It was very well organized and extremely fun!!! What a unique and memorable experience for my daughter and for all her guests! It took a lot of research to find the right place. Being a black belt myself, I'm so happy to have found the perfect dojo for my daughter to train at.

Great school, motivating instructors with a good mix of beginners and advanced students. My kids and I all train here and we've always enjoyed it. One thing that often gets overlooked when choosing a school to learn martial arts/ karate/ workout are the egos of the instructors and students. I'm happy to report this school specifically is well-run and ego free, everybody there is happy to help and I really enjoy the atmosphere. Update - in the last 6-9mo they have gotten a major facelift on the inside, and upgraded some of the instructors as well. Highly recommended. *Also- not sure what other's experience was but my billing is automatic and trouble-free every month like clockwork.

Both my son, and now my 5 year old daughter, have been taking classes here for almost a year now. Our first encounter was with Sensei Christine. She is so friendly and easy to talk to, and basically the administrative backbone of this place. Whenever I had a question, schedule change, or whatever, she has always been so accommodating and makes you feel like you a part of a family. My kids absolutely love Sensei Jack! He always makes classes engaging and funny. He is really good with the kids. I like how they not only teach karate, but also the principles of karate and how to deal with every day life situations, like dealing with a bully. I have learned some life lessons myself while watching in on his group classes! The program itself consists of a 30-minute one-on-one with a trainer and then 3 optional 45-minute group classes (based on age). They earn stripes on their belts depending on what they have learned for that particular belt. Once they receive 4 stripes they can test for the next color belt. Tests are usually done once a month. The kids have incentives to earn "ninja dollars" which they can collect to redeem for toys at the "ninja store." The kids really loves this and gives them an opportunity to work harder and be more engaged.

Master Turner is as good with kids as he is with adults, and the other instructors, all of whom he has hand-picked, are also superb. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. I've been working out here for 10 years now, and never plan to stop.

I give Butokuden…read moresole credit for developing my love for kendo because of the quality of instruction, positive atmosphere, and incredible facility. From the curious mind who wants to learn more about the sport to the seasoned kenshi, this place is a great place to develop yourself, improve your skills, and have a fantastic time doing so. The instructors are world-class but still down-to-earth, and everyone at the dojo is genuinely nice and helpful, which really helped me gain confidence when I was a timid beginner. And what other sport can you do that encourages you to scream as loud as you can. At first it feels strange, but it's such great stress relief! Along with the adult class I attend, there are two kids' classes that precede it. From sitting in on several of the kids' classes, it is obvious that kendo is great for them because it helps instill in them the virtues of discipline, honor, confidence, and perseverance. The kids class is intense, but I have never seen a group of kids so eager to learn, respectful, and grateful for the opportunity to learn the sport. I can't say enough great things about this place. The people are great and I always have a blast in class. So come check it out!

E-Bogu was significantly cheaper then the supplier in my part of town and the reviews of their products were all very high. The store is really just the warehouse for the website (there is no show room) but they have staff to assist you. I went to the warehouse so I could get the proper sizes as that is always an issue when ordering online, which was a good idea since their sizing chart would have given me a keikogi that was too small in the chest (thankfully the lady helping me immediately saw that and got me a better size). All in all it was a good experience and for the price of one uniform at my local supplier I got two from E-Bogu. When I comes time to get my Bogu I think I'll be driving out to Irvine again.

You can always tell he loves what he teaches. The students pay a fixed fee. The good thing is they can come as many times during the week as they want to. Sensei Doan explains how each body shift, arm and leg movement, block, strike, kick in each kata can be used in practical ways. He analyzes kata and extracts fighting techniques from the movements of a "form" (kata). My kids get excited to see how they can apply the techniques they learn in the Katas. They look forward to attend these special sessions of the week. One thing I like about this Dojo is all students come here to learn. Sensei Doan always emphasizes how important it is for each student to concentrate on the lessons and improve his or her techniques to the next level. He teaches his students to respect themselves to earn the respect from others. As they achieve each level of the belt rank , they improve not only their Karate techniques but also develop their personal characters accordingly. We believe this dojo is one of the top notch Karate dojos in this local area.
