I grew up in Korea, where taekwondo emphasized respect, discipline, grit, and hard work, so I was initially cautious. My 11-year-old son is on the autism spectrum (high functioning). His gross motor skills were somewhat behind his peers, and team sports were a struggle for him. A friend recommended Regulus, so we tried a trial week. That week happened to be just before belt testing, and I overheard Master Rhee explaining that students must earn an A or B on a "parent report card" evaluating behaviors like keeping their room clean, doing chores with a good attitude, being respectful, and following rules at home in order to qualify for testing.
