I really have mixed feeling about rating this one…read more In short, the awsomeness of the Paneer makes up for the not so awesome Chicken dish and breads. I just have a quick review for the Paneer Butter Masala and Chicken Chatpat and a few breads. The North Indian in me loves my Paneer Butter Masala. And we all know from back in India what a good Paneer dish tastes like. The Gravy was yumm and paneer soft, hands down yumm. Chicken Chatpat, sorry guys we really expected more when a dish is described as a chef's special...his mystery sauce..this did not do the trick at all. The gravy was just like Paneer's...more like Chicken Butter Masala but not ChatPat. Coming to the breads..again sadly I was veryyyy disappointed. Our friends had HIGHLY recommended this place for their Biryani. So there's a hint if you want try some. 'Apparently' they make some really good stuff of that. Would suggest a take -away,although I personally love the charm of a small packed restaurant, it's not fancy wancy or ideal for fancy dinner plans or a huge group etc. You get the point. Huge fan of Paneer dish, hope they are consistent with the taste and quality. Will be going back to try their Biryani!

The mixed vegetable curry was also very light, not stodgy or in any way over cooked, with the vegetables retaining their shape and individual flavours. So while one of us minded a table and watched the food growing cold the other ran back and forward picking up the dishes as they became ready. The food was just OK. Singapore noodles did not have much of a curry flavour or really a flavour of any kind. The special fried rice had a sausage/salami that didn't really taste as if it belonged. The satays were OK. Not sure that what we got was what was advertised. Pretty unimpressed.

The laksa was delicious. A large serving with plenty of soup and noodles and fried tofu. I appreciated that they offered shredded chicken, meaning I didn't have to chew around little bones. The broth doesn't have a seafood taste in any way, which i know some people don't like. All in all I was very happy with it and I'll happily return when my laksa craving strikes again.

Last weekend I found out in the worst of ways that my favourite Indian restaurant that delivers…read more has closed down, so with a ravenous appetite and phone in hand I found myself looking for a new favourite that will deliver. After a couple of misses I found Talking Tables and decided that despite the very Non authentic Indian name I would give them a try. Am I glad I did! While I will miss my old faithful, I certainly won't be wanting for great Indian, as Talking Tables food was fantastic. I was a little off put by the limited menu, but I discovered when I contacted them that if you have an unlisted favourite they will accommodate you. So, for only $40 I got three dishes and 2 rice, as they give you a 15 percent discount the first time you order from them. In addition my food arrived in only 35 minutes, was piping hot and the delivery guy was lovely. I've learnt not to judge based on a restaurant's name as Talking Tables Indian was as authentic as any other Indian I have had. I will definitely be ordering from them again and look forward to trying more of their fare.

Naan bread rated highly here. Good flavour and texture. Malai Kofta: The dumplings were lacking, but the sauce was nice. Palak Paneer: Texture was bad, flavour was bland and they skimped on the cheese. When I added my own spice to the Palak Paneer, it improved dramatically. I'm afraid I was served the white version of the dish. I feel that if I ordered more stereotypical white choices, my meal would have been flawless. The service here is excellent.

A Hidden Secret Gem in Hunters Hill!…read more I am a regular diner at Mount Everest Nepalese Restaurant in Hunters Hill. It is probably my favourite local restaurant, and where I dine the most often with my family. 5/5 stars in my opinion. All the dishes are amazing. Good, generous servings, well presented, and all very reasonably priced. The wine selection is also very good and very well priced. Their Sagwaala dishes are my favourite, and I always have the Vege Momo as an entree. These are beautiful dumplings. But I've tried most of their dishes and base flavours, which are always excellently done. Saffron Chicken, Tikka Masala, Chicken Chettinad, etc are other favourites. I also like the Nepalese goat dish. A small thing, but the cheese naans are always VERY cheesy! Which is great. All dishes are beautifully cooked and presented. The flavors in all dishes are very well balanced, rich and complex, and so many flavours dance around in the mouth. The service is also great. It often fairly quiet, because it is off the main street, so I don't think most people know it is even there! I really hope it sees more customers, because they deserve it, although while dining there, I see they do a lot of business through delivery services, so clearly other people like their food. Although, it is nice that it is not a loud restaurant. I am a bit conflicted between wanting them to see more customers and enjoying a quiet restaurant (: It has some nice views of the Gladesville bridge and bay, too. Overall, I highly recommend Mount Everest to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Nepalese dining experience, or a great restaurant in general. Great food, generous servings, good service etc.
