The Tryon Matthews office just canceled my appointment on me 30 minutes before I was due to arrive. I was on my way to the office and received text messages, I checked them when I arrived only to discover I no longer had an appointment. They offered no accommodation for a visit with someone else while I was there, Yet they are very adamant about charging a patient if you don't cancel 24 hours in advance. They obviously are not very concerned with patient care as this is the 2nd time they have canceled my appointment with no regard for my care. Fortunately we have many other choices in this area.

My previous doctor was pretty good as well... but a little too good. It was really hard to get an appointment with him when/if I needed one so I sought out a new doctor. Luckily I came upon Dr. Shelton. The office is located in Southpark so it's pretty convenient from most places in Charlotte. Parking is never an issue. I did have to get used to e-prescriptions. I guess I'm old skool in that I expect a little piece of paper to take to my Pharmacy... but they just send it electronically and the prescription is waiting for me when I get there. Not that Dr. Shelton is one to dispense pills to treat you, but we discuss the options and it feels like I make an informed choice whenever I visit this doctor's office. Dr. Shelton is a part of CMC and have a vast network of Doctors to pull expertise from as well. I've had a couple referrals and they turned out great.

My PCP at Tryon Medical Partners at Pineville location had retired and saw, Dr. David Colon in Pineville. Had the office visit and he prescribed two medications. Upon receiving a statement that I owed $274.93 because this was dental and not covered, routine visit was billed and not covered . I contacted his office trying to figure out the problem with the codes after speaking with Medicare. The code was incorrect per them and if the visit was Medically Necessary should had been covered. Talked with billing and said the code was changed but it was not, only the wording. It was denied because of diagnostic code and he would not change it. If your sick and feel you need medical care for healing, what are you supposed to do?? I felt like was deem it a necessary visit as I left with 2 RX and was sick for weeks with infection. I still have not heard from them except a statement in the mail for payment and his assistant said through MyChart, he would change the code so that my payment would be LESS. Still waiting. Now I am afraid to go to a PCP doctor afraid I will be stuck with another bill! I feel like as a Retired- Senior Citizen I am being taken advantage of and have this my financial responsibility. STAY AWAY FROM HIM UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY OUT OF POCKET WHEN YOU HAVE MEDICARE AND SUPPLEMENT COVERAGE TO PAY FOR YOUR VISIT. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. If I could post a 0, I would do that.

I started seeing Dr. Parker about a year or so ago, transferring to him from another practice/doc…read morethat I just couldn't stomach anymore. A friend referred me to him & I'm thankful for this. We're still kind of in the "getting to know you" phase of our relationship since, luckily, I haven't had to see him THAT often, but so far I'm a fan. He isn't your average doc, especially when it comes to freely dispensing with prescriptions - he actually shy's away from pills whenever possible, and I appreciate that (unheard of this "here just take this & go" era). That's also important to know if you're transferring to him thinking he'll just put you on any sort of drug...he won't! Dr. Parker is one of the very few doctors that will take the time to actually sit with you and EXPLAIN what's going on. This includes inside you, with the medications you are or will be on, tests that are taking place (and the results), and so on. I feel like Dr. Parker (and Parker IM in general) genuinely CARES about his/their patients and sincerely want the best for them. This is evident in articles such as "The Cost Conundrum" that they post on their website regarding docs that test excessively and/or perform unnecessary procedures for the sole purpose of generating addt'l revenue - what other doctor's gonna post THAT kind of article on their website these days?! I also appreciate that I've never had to sit and wait more than 5 or so minutes beyond my scheduled appt time, and if Dr. Parker IS late seeing me, I know it's because he's taking TIME with another patient, so I don't mind...and I know he'll provide me with the same courtesy.
