We spent our last afternoon in Kauai relaxing here. There's not a lot of shade on the beach itself. We found some trees back in the grassy area to relax under. The beach itself is nice. It's not crowded which is definitely a perk. There's a nice walking trail that goes behind it along the town for a bit (and off of the main street). There are a couple of picnic tables on the far side a bit off of the beach. We found a shop to rent some beach chairs at about a 5 minute walk away (since we were flying out that day). Overall, it's a nice place to spend an afternoon.

My husband and I spend a lot of time here. The scenery is beautiful and the vibes are good. Excellent place to have a picnic, work on your computer, or just relax and collect your thoughts .

This was my favorite beach because it's calm and very low key. Where we picked doesn't even have an official parking lot but there's enough street parking that you can find a spot anytime. There's a bathroom building in the center but I didn't see any showers around where we were. The water is crystal clear and it stays s pretty shallow for a good amount on the shore so you can swim with kids safely. Just be aware of the current direction and the tide situation just as you would with any ocean swimming. I brought a cooler and an umbrella and chilled there a few days. My daughter loved swimming there so much that I had s hard time peeling her off the beach Oh how I long to return sooner rather than later!! God please make my dream come true and bring me home!!

Pretty little beach/park adjacent to the bike path that's not too packed with people! The sand is soft, the water blue...how can you complain?!? At night however, this place gets a little scary with riff raff and it's dark so be careful.

I'm not sure if this beach is typically less swimmable most of the year or just during this time of the year but I didn't find many swimmers in the ocean. Although there are certain areas where the water is a bit more calm. While we walked along the shore we found groups of sketchy people. It's not particularly the cleanest most pristine beach either. If you're looking for the swing, the best way to describe it is that it's located behind the building of the public library. It may not be in tip top shape as it's most likely voluntarily maintained by the locals.

To get here take the entry road off Highway 27 (traveling north), past 16 mile marker. This is a very small beach, maybe 200 yards across at the most. There are a couple of picnic tables and BBQ pits, along with bathroom facilities. The shoreline is very rocky, and I'm not sure how good the swimming here is. When I was here, there was a group of teenagers smoking pakalolo, which maybe the only thing this small, secluded and seemingly often empty park is good for. (Pics included)

Beautiful beach with awesome bike/walk/running trail. Views are amazing. There's also a swing on a tree so you can take in the views while you swing. Waves are not too strong here.

Initially coming here to kill a little time before a reserved tour, my wife and I really admired…read morethe planning and execution of the building/landscaping of this family park. Named after a pillar in the community who came to Kauai in the late 19th century, Lydgate Beach Park is 62 acres, with the Lydgate Park pathway encompassing 2.5 miles, a small part of the much larger Ke Ala Hele Makālae costal trail. There is plenty of parking, with both dedicated surface lots and street parking on the paved road. We immediately noticed surfers on electric surfboards out pretty far, even on this windy day. At the northern part of the park is where most people gather, close to modern facilities and a manned lifeguard station and a large covered event area with plenty of parking. Closer to the shore, we saw a seal just lying on the land, bathing in the sun, completely ignoring the people milling by. The very large safe man-made swimming/tide pools are great for the kekei and others, with constant refreshing of sea water over the lava rocks. There are picnic tables nearby as well with a lot of green space. My favorite feature are the man-made protected swimming pools, What I loved about it was how spread out everything was, with so many amenities. It just never felt crowded, even if a lot more people came. As we were leaving, my wife mentioned that Lydgate Beach is one of those rare parks where an ocean-loving family would intentionally live close by, just to be near this park.

Hands down probably the best Beach park and kids playground in the world with both combinations…read more Has a very large covered area for groups and events. Smaller covered area for public rental and reservations. 2 playgrounds next to each other. One very extensive and large playground mostly wooden and older. The other one is more modern, "smaller". Recently they added more shaded areas over parts of that playground. Lots of parking, great beach area.
