Okay, some of the island is Tropical Paradise and some Tropical Trashcan. This one is the Paradise one! Beautiful crashing waves create a reach rugged ocean feel yet it is in a cove so it also have some calm. Home to beautiful resorts and hotels and some great food and shopping! If you want the Paradise part of the island, this is where you stay!

A great wonderful beach right next to The Royal Sonesta Kaua'i Resort Lihue (formerly Kauai Marriott). There is free beach access parking next door even if you are not a hotel guest. Waters are relatively calm and you can walk across the beach pretty easily or relax on the sand. Plus, there are restaurants on-site like Duke's and Cafe Portofino, or you can go across the street to the Harbor Mall.

The day we landed Kauai, this is the 1st beach we've been through. And if you're staying in Marriott Hotel this would be perfect & closest beach you'll ever have. Located on the East side of the island (5mins. drive from the airport) Kalapaki Beach is a great for swimming, learning to surf, boogie boarding & stand up paddle boarding. Partially protected from the open ocean by a large break wall your kids will probably enjoy in here. We haven't stayed longer in this beach. Just checking how it was & because there were plenty of beach-goers at that time we immediately hop back in our car & drove a little more. Public parking is available. Restaurants around the beach & plenty of sandy spots to lay down & work on your tan! Most of the time, you'll see people paddle boarding on here according to other reviews. So if you are into kayak & boogie board, mind as consider this place in your itinerary. Mahalo & happy juandering fellow yelpers. @hello.juanderpinay www.juanderbandit.world

What a wonderful empty beach. So beautiful, lava rock, water, picnic tables. I'm walking distance to ship we were on. We had our bathing suits. Got a 6 pack and snacks from store and had a fun day at a beautiful area with a photo shoot on our honeymoon where we were the photographer. Visit this beautiful area.

This beach was really fun for our kids. We originally came here to go to the restaurant along the beach and grass area and it was a little wait so we took our shoes off and took a dip and it was really fun. there was this big sandy hill and then this little area where the water would go and then almost turn into a river and the kids loved that part. The waves came in at a descent speed, not too crazy and the little divot was nice because it had some fish and tadpoles they could see and it was safe. Overall we had a great time here and with the high rocks on one side too, it kept the kids from venturing too far. Also there were bathrooms near and an outside shower, so that was nice to rinse off our legs and feet before dinner.

My husband and I went to this beach yesterday for the first time and had the best time's We have lived in Kauai for almost a year and we usually stay close to home however, yesterday we decided to venture into Lihue because someone recommended this beach to us. We were so glad that we went!! The water was calm, the beach was beautiful and we had a great day of swimming and relaxing. This beach park was definitely with the bus ride that it took to get there!!

Beautiful gorgeous coast line with a scenic golf course along it. Would come again a ton of restaurants and mariachis near by

Water is not as clear as I hoped. Beach is by two hotels so it's not so crowded. Waves aren't too wild.

Eh. Not an impressive beach in terms of beauty in comparison to others I've been to on the island. But it is a cove/protected from the open ocean by a break wall making it good for swimming, learning to surf and stand up paddle boarding. Nestled at the Marriot, you can park along the curb at the lower parking lot of the hotel, but not in the hotel parking lot or you will be towed. One advantage of this loacation is the ability to use the Marriot restrooms. I added a star for that convenience. :)

Named after a pillar in the community who came to Kauai in the late 19th century, Lydgate Beach Park is 62 acres, with the Lydgate Park pathway encompassing 2.5 miles, a small part of the much larger Ke Ala Hele Makālae costal trail. There is plenty of parking, with both dedicated surface lots and street parking on the paved road. We immediately noticed surfers on electric surfboards out pretty far, even on this windy day. At the northern part of the park is where most people gather, close to modern facilities and a manned lifeguard station and a large covered event area with plenty of parking. Closer to the shore, we saw a seal just lying on the land, bathing in the sun, completely ignoring the people milling by. The very large safe man-made swimming/tide pools are great for the kekei and others, with constant refreshing of sea water over the lava rocks. There are picnic tables nearby as well with a lot of green space. My favorite feature are the man-made protected swimming pools, What I loved about it was how spread out everything was, with so many amenities. It just never felt crowded, even if a lot more people came. As we were leaving, my wife mentioned that Lydgate Beach is one of those rare parks where an ocean-loving family would intentionally live close by, just to be near this park.

You can access the…read morebeach by 4x4 from either the Lydgate Park side to the north or the old Marine Camp haul cane road to the south. The Old Marine Camp Rd is the unmarked road just north of Kauai Beach Dr and south of the golf course. If you're a tourist without a 4x4 taking Marine Camp Rd after any type of rain it's a bad idea. There are gigantic mud puddles and ruts all along this road as it is now defunct a sugar cane haul road. Back to the beach, Range's is located in the middle of the long beach stretch that goes from Kauai Beach Resort to Lydgate Park. It's a good 3 mile stretch of beach that is mostly accessible by 4 wheel drive although you can walk it from either end. This isn't the most scenic beach on the island by far but it's secluded and you can pretty much do what you want here as long as you don't piss off the locals. Mind you, if you do piss off the locals here, you're screwed. Seriously screwed. The reason for the 5 stars: 4 Wheeling on an East Side Beach. Fishing, there are several good fishing spots along this beach. There's also a few nice offshore reefs for diving as well. No ask where, OK. Surfing, although this beach rarely gets really good there are usually some waves here from the almost constant tradewinds. No Cops, well I've never seen one and I've been coming here for 20+ years. A few words of caution: The water here can be extremely deceiving as sand bars are constantly shifting creating strong undertows and rip currents. The locals here can get kinda crazy, its a good place to roll bowls if you know what I mean. Portuguese man o' war, they are everywhere here so pay attention and if you see them on the beach and you decide to go in the water be prepared to get stung.

Wailua Falls offered an incredibly close view, which made the experience feel special. I was able to truly appreciate the waterfall's beauty up close. I also noticed a touching memorial sign dedicated to Kavika Luna, "Mr. Aloha" - The Flying Hawaiian (May 1960 - September 2024). The message spoke about rainbows appearing as he chanted and the magic of Wailua Falls coming alive. It felt meaningful because I actually caught a mini rainbow during my visit, which made the moment even more breathtaking and memorable. Overall, I was very pleased with this stop. I do wish they would cut down some of the weeds as it was a bit tall. Luckily, a fellow tourist that took our family photo was tall and so he was able to capture a photo of us and the fall. You can park for free, but I felt that the security was quite bad. After all, as soon as I stopped the car, a woman came out of a car and came to sell something in a small bag. Of course I refused, but my husband said, "It's probably drugs." After having such an experience right after arriving, I was quite worried about walking around, so I finished walking early within sight of our car and returned to the car. I really wanted to take a longer and more relaxed walk if I had time. The atmosphere of the pier was as if it had traveled back in time; the pier looked old and almost decayed. According to what I heard, the first people who discovered Hawaii landed here. There was an old lighthouse on the other side of the pier, but it is not certain whether it is still fulfilling its role. Unfortunately, I can't review detailed information about this place at this time, but I want you to take safety measures if you visit here. While we were away from the car for a short time, a Kauai county sheriff's car came on patrol, so I was a little relieved. But I think it's easy to target small groups of Japanese people in this secluded area, so please practice crime prevention when you leave the car; don't forget to prevent theft. It is a peaceful state park with a long history where anglers enjoy fishing leisurely, but it is certainly dangerous because it is difficult to see from the public road.
