It's such a pleasant surprise to find Kao Gaeng, a Thai restaurant in Springvale, Melbourne. Springvale is predominantly a Vietnamese area occupied by many mini markets filled with fresh local seafood, produce, and groceries. After shopping we were very hungry so we went in search for a place to have lunch and came across this hole-in-the-wall restaurant. We noticed that the employees spoke Thai among themselves and many signage on the wall are in Thai so we decided to take a gamble and asked for a table for our party of four. Our waiter was pleasant and he can't speak English so we pointed at some items on the menu. He correctly ordered all our dishes and was attentive to make sure our glasses were filled promptly.
The dishes were delicious and our favorite was the crab fried rice. read more
