I purchased $20k of office furniture 5 yrs ago and just paid them $5k to move that furniture to a new office. The moving team they hired was horrible, unprofessional, marked and damaged many walls without concern despite my request in advance for them to take care. Damaged two pieces beyond repair which I had them take back to the warehouse. The company is offering to replace one of the two damaged pieces, but I should pay them to install them and no reparations for the damages they caused. They completely recognize the damages that won't make an offer to do anything to make it right. Not even an offer. I guess there are plenty of other customers to burn. I would not recommend them to do any installation in a professional environment. read more

I had been looking for a desk chair for my college age son but had no luck. I then remember seeing Kantors from the freeway so decided to go there. Walked in and the person sitting at the front desk greeted me asked if he could help us. Told us where chairs were at if we needed help to let him know. The inventory was extensive from new chairs to used chairs. While looking two more employees asked if we needed assistance. After my son tried out every chair in the store he finally picked one and they cleaned it up and loaded for us. This store has great inventory but there customer service was the best. I watched Bay Area Bargains last Saturday on KRON/NBC-Channel 4. I decided to investigate and check out the sofabed selection in the showroom. I met the owner, Mr. Kantor-he's funny! Francisco Martinez called me a day ago and told me he will show me what is available in Kantor's showroom. So, I went to Kantor's today. Francisco showed me the sofabed selection that Kantor's has in stock in their showroom. Kantor's didn't have a large sofabed selection compared to their regular sofas they have in stock. Kantor's has a lease and/or rent program for offices regarding furniture and office equipment. when a lease or rental ends, the rented item is trucked here for resale. havn't been here for over a decade. usually, office chairs go for $99. i would look for an odd coloured one that was functional in the 20's. don't know how it is these days. read more

Kantor's did an outstanding job removing 10,000 square feet of office furniture from our suite of 20 offices and they disassembled/removed 20 cubes. They bought our furniture which means they hired the movers and hauled everything away. This is a lot of furniture - 3 truck loads. Our building managers have strict requirements about moving times and insurance. No problem, Kantor's had it covered. Ken Kantor was present. He's very professional and a very nice man. When getting bids, I had read horrible yelp reviews for other companies who did not follow through and remove everything. Kantor's took everything. Hands down one of the worst retail experiences I've ever had. The sales rep I worked with made mistake after mistake, constantly passing the blame. This place is a big warehouse with everything out on the floor - feels like Sears appliance outlet - not attractive. With a few exceptions, the price in general is not any different than retail furniture stores. They carry a lot of furniture made with composite woods - so, be sure to check. The sales people always have been very nice and helpful. However, they had a nice dining room set for $1400 (table, chair, buffet and hutch) and my wife was only interested in table and chairs. So, she asked the sales person if they are selling just the table and the chairs. The owner said that "You can take the table and the chair for $1400." His tone and answer made it clear he didn't want our business. My wife, then, informed the sales person that they lost sales for good and we went to another furniture store and made our purchase. read more

Do you want to wait months for a piece of furniture you were promised to have in a few weeks? Do you want to have an unresponsive Sales Person who doesn't follow through with their promises? Then Kantors is the place for you! Here's the long and short-- we ordered our bed in early March and was told it would be in, in 3 weeks AT THE MOST. Our sales person said he's likes to "overestimate" and that we'd probably get it sooner. Two weeks later we get a call that the bed is coming at the end of April which would be 7 weeks from our order date. This resulted in us not having a bed for my visiting Mother In-Law which = me giving up my bed for her so she had a place to sleep. The end of April comes and no word from our sales person. I call him on the 30th to find out our bed STILL won't be for another week. He never offered to refund our $75 delivery fee or to do anything for our inconvenience I had to REQUEST a refund and wait another week for him to talk to his manager about it. Our sales person promised when the bed was delivered we'd get a refund for delivery because it was so late. A week later, I still have no refund for my delivery. We just moved and needed pretty much everything, we shopped around a but but didnt want to spend 3000 on a couch set. So we drove to Kators in Oakland, we were greeted by Victoria after a few minutes of walking around. She was very sweet and not pushy at all they didnt have the couch we seen on line, but Victoria told us where we could go see it, but after looking around we seen a set we liked and it was on closeout, we ended up getting more then we wanted a couch a love seat and chair and also a really amazing dinning set all for a good price! We were told one item was out of stock, but we were told we would have them everything by christmas. The delivered today and the men were pretty amazing, were on the 7th floor and yet they had not one issue. Also Kantors called us a few times to let us know there E T A and to loet us know when they were on there way. One item had some damage, but it was with the maker not the men that delivered the items sure Kantors will take care of it. I would say before you buy check out Kantors, everything may not be to your taste but they have some great deals, Victoria was very helpfull and everything worked out well and we saved a ton of money :) read more

After finding their listing on Craigslist I decided to drop by Kantor's this Saturday to get a chair for my home office. With their store being only 15mins away, I figured it wouldn't hurt to take a look. Upon arrival parking was not a problem due to the location. Industrial area/culdesac. It was about 4:23pm as I entered and pretty much immediately after walking in I was greeted by Susan by who was very helpful and cordial. She informed me on the layout of their warehouse and I was off upstairs to find a Steelcase chair. After searching upstairs for about 5mins I found the chair I wanted. I then headed back downstairs and told Susan I found my chair. Which then she called someone from the back to bring down my chair after I pointed out which one it was. As soon as it was brought down, Susan wrote me up a bill of sale and I was done! Quick and painless. The visit here could not have been any easier! What more could you ask for. As I was leaving the store, I heard a voice call out "excuse me" he said. I was told that even though they don't sell a warranty with the chair, should anything go wrong with the chair within a year, I was informed to give them a call. I thought that was some fantastic customer service. I then asked the gentleman his name and he introduced himself. He said Neil, Neil Kantor. How cool was that! The owner of the store himself came out just to let me know that. I doubt that anything will go wrong with my Steelcase chair, but if it does within a year... Kantor's got me taken care of. HOORAY FOR YELP! After stealing office chairs from abandoned dotcoms and/or buying them at Office Depot, only to have them crap out with broken backs and lumpy foam, I decided to visit all the office furniture stores open on Sunday in my vicinity -- Office Depot (yes, I'm stupid to go back), Office Max, Ikea -- and threw in Yelp-listed Kantor's for good measure. After searching through all the fragile, wobbly ones and the massive, leather-lobed mutants at the other stores, I found the ONE at Kantor's. A lightly-used Steelcase chair built like a M1 tank. 5 degrees of adjustability, comfortable cushioning, and the works for only $130, with just a Sharpie-correctable smudge. This chair could tear an Aeron in half and call its momma fat. I didn't even think they made office furniture like this in the USA anymore. Heck, it probably wasn't even made here anyway! U S A ! I don't know what happened to this place. The furniture prices used to be better and I felt like there were a bunch more styles of things to choose from. The Kantor's of days past has been replaced by a space offering weirdly diverse pickings at uniquely non-low prices. My darling lumberjack and I visited a number of different spots beforehand and found some of the same pieces listed at either the same or slightly higher price. There were a few slightly damaged items that were offered at bargain prices; but alas, we were not that desperate. There is office furniture in varying conditions and prices for sale outside and this been useful for me when having to put together an office on a super-tight budget... but for furniture and stuff for a living space I would shop elsewhere. read more

Thanks to the shelter-in-place I needed an ergonomic chair for my home office set up. Based on previous experience, I knew that I really wanted a Herman Miller Aeron chair. My company was offering limited reimbursement support, so I checked Craigslist for pre-owned chairs. Thank goodness Kantor's advertised through CL...I'm so glad to have found them! They had a number of Aeron chairs in their shop, and importantly they had several in size A for petite folks like me. The showroom has an impressive range of new and pre-owned office furniture for any need. The whole experience working with Johnny was fantastic, from my first inquiry phone call about stock to picking the best chair from what they had available and paying for it with my corporate AmEx card. So my company spent MONTHS looking online for new office furniture and we could not find what we wanted for a decent price. The places that we called were too busy to help us or suggested we look on their website. Esther, our office manager said I know a place Called Kantor's, its in Oakland near the freeway. She went online and got the information. She spoke with a Wonderful woman name Suzie. Suzie suggested that she come in and take a look at what they had to offer. When she came back to the office, she had a great head start to get us what we needed. We just had to figure out if we needed left or right desk, or two lefts or two rights. It was crazy, again Suzie was great. She asked that we send pictures of our currant set up so that she could better understand what we wanted and what our set up was. We did just that. Suzie and her team were awesome. She sent a drawing of what she thought we needed and it was perfect. Now all we had to do was get approval for the pricing. Our corporate office couldn't believe that we were so under budget. They loved the price, the set up and the CUSTOMER SERVICE! It was such an awesome experience. The Kantor's team took the time to answer ALL of our questions (there were a lot of them) they explained the process step by step and they made sure we felt comfortable with their service. When the delivery team showed up they were fast and efficient. They made sure everything was correct, they took time to explain the what they were doing and by the time they left we VERY EXCITED about our new office furniture! Saw this place on Bay Area Bargains and decided to give it a try, even though Henry Tenenbaum has to be one of the most annoying pitchmen on television. These guys are an Ashley's furniture reseller and you can get better deals on some items than you can from Ashley stores ... But double-check the prices and don't be afraid to negotiate. I bought a set of living room tables. The price was great, but delivery was a bit of a fire drill ... Their delivery company calling me mid-week and saying they would be at my place that afternoon, AFTER specifying Saturday delivery to the salesmen. Will definitely go there again on one of their "so sales tax" weekends. read more

Back in 2009/2010, we ordered 99% of our furniture from Kantor's when we moved into our first house. It was all Ashley brand pieces for considerably less money. The quality is outstanding and the customer service is tops. I recently ordered another piece of furniture to match our bedroom set and had no problem ordering online. Francisco called to make sure I knew that I needed to pay extra because we were outside of the usual delivery area. I appreciated the call instead of finding out upon delivery that we owed money. For the past month, I have been suffering from horrible lower back pain partially due to an unfit office chair. On Saturday, I went to Kantor's to shop for a decent chair - and they didn't disappoint. Yona was very knowledgeable and friendly. She thoroughly explained the pros/cons and different features between my selections and helped me make the best choice. Could not complain about the price either ($229). A comparable chair easily sells for $700-$800. Yona even helped me after the sale (how rare is that!) because I couldn't work some of the levers on my chair. She provided me with a phone consult and got me set up. Yay! They have great deals on home furniture also. I saw a recliner that I adored, but will have to place on my wish list for now. read more

I have been searching for a month now for a small reception desk to put into my new salon in Monterey, Ca. & finally found one on Craigslist that would be perfect from this business! I grabbed my husband and we headed off to Oakland and found the desk was better in person and the price point was more than fair and reasonable considering that the shipping costs on reception desks can cost about the same, if not more than the desk itself! On top of getting a great price, my husband who hurt his knee on the job couldn't help load the desk and they noticed & were accomidating, and loaded the desk into my suv! Gordon took extremely good care of us and we had our sofa's delivered within 2 days and the table's we went to go pick up in Alameda when they were available about a week later. I was able to get 2 great sofa's and an awesome 3 piece table set for under $1,000. I have no complaints at all about this place or Gordon who took care of us. After contemplating and searching for the right sectional, we ended up at Kantors ( they were having the no sales tax sale). At first, we couldn't decide on the two tone or microfiber but eventually decided on the 2 piece leather for a resonable price. Although, we were somewhat happy with the service, we are very disappointed with the delivery. Our schudule delivery was on saturday, although they did deliver, but they only brought the chaise piece. It's obvious that it's a 2 piece item because of the hook on the side of the chaise. The delivery guy doesn't seem to understand customer service. He insists that the invoice says only chaise. Anyways, after straightening out their mistake, we had rescheduled for tuesday at 5. We didn't receive any phone call to confirm so we had called to make sure, we were told that we will recieve a call. After waiting hours, we decided to call again and finally got a confirmation. Around 3:45 we got a call saying they are around the corner and will be delivering. Suffice to say, we are not very happy since no one is there to accept the order and I haven't taught my dogs to open the door and sign for delivery. I called Kantor to tell them about the situation and i was told to call the delivery company since they outsource it. Wow!! after the check has cleared, the customer service disappears. They did finally deliver but after attempting to deliver to the house at the end of the other street. WILL NEVER GO BACK or REFER TO ANYONE... read more

Let me start by saying...I HATE TO SHOP! This place is a dream come true for the shopping adverse. My husband and I had been looking for two chest of drawers to match our bedroom furniture. Neither of us like to shop and even though we don't like cheap things, we don't like to spend much money either. I found Kantors on Bay Area Bargains website. I went online to see the selection of chests and there were many. We picked out two matching chest. I called and asked several questions. The answers were honest. I ordered the chests. They were delivered a week later. They looked exactly like the picture. We live in Walnut Creek and the delivery cost was reasonable; however the only reason I would rate them a 4 instead of a 5, is the website said the delivery cost was cheaper than I was quoted and they would not back down from the cost. However, being able to order furniture without leaving my home and having it delivered and look exactly like the picture makes me give them a 5. The extra $15 for delivery was definitely worth it. *If I could, ZERO STARS! I've never been so upset with a company in my life. I saw this pathetic place on Bay Area Bargains and decided to go since they were running a "no sales tax" event that weekend. My mother and I splurged and bought a new sofa, 2 dining tables, and a rug. They had the two dining tables in back order so we had to wait until it was ready. The lady offered free shipping if we decide to deliver both sets to one location since combined it was over $500, but we decided to pick it up knowing that one would arrive a week earlier and because my mother and I live in different locations. Long story short, the day of my dining table pick-up was a WEEK past the date they initially promised. Also, they didn't not even bother to call and tell us that it was ready, I was the one that had to make the effort. Anyway, It started to rain the day of our pick-up and we called them and asked if it was still okay to put in the back of a open pick-up truck. The guy said it wasn't a problem and that they cover it with plastic anyway. Um....after a long, traffic filled drive across the bridge we finally arrived and the crew told us that it wasn't good to have it sitting in the rain. UMMMM!!!!!! HELLO?????? Didn't we ask you that from the very beginning?!!?!?!?!!?!!?!?!!?!??!! We then called the following day to complain to our sales lady, Suzie. As a resolution, we decided to wait another week and a half (again, longer than the promised delivery date) for the second dining set to arrive at their warehouse and they can just ship both sets to my mother place for free. **A week and a half past*** Again I got ZERO calls and had to call the unprofessional place myself. Suzie said that both sets are finally there and that her boss said that she couldn't get us free shipping after all the trouble and after she initially offered us that from the very beginning. WTF???!!!!!!!! I asked to speak to her boss and she said she'd call me back. Umm as expected, she didn't call me back. (TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE) I called several hours later and was connected to her boss. I told him the situation and he told me that he couldn't do anything and we still had to pay for shipping. I even told him that Suzie initially offered us free shipping and he still wasn't having it. I was so upset I told him to cancel the order altogether and as a response; he UNPROFESSIONALLY and RUDELY hung up the phone. [**Random humiliating side note, my mother still wanted her set so she yelled at me for cancelling the order and then called them later that day to tell them that she would drive there and pick up her set. I saw Kantors on Bay Area Bargains, and I enjoyed the funny themes they use to promote the place...Also I was impressed with the selection (basically its all Ashley) and prices so I headed right down with thousands of bucks in cash (hoping to get an even sweeter deal) So feeling pretty good about my chances of walking out with a house full of furniture, I walked in and received customer service of the worst kind! Nobody came rushing up to greet me just some guy scurried by obviously on his way to lunch break or something of the sort because I never saw him come back. I saw the guy and the lady from the commercials but they semed too cought up in other dealings to be concerned with me. The owner guy was walking his floor wih some business colleage discussing the pricing of the furniture. The woman was seated at a desk on the phone. I got close to her and asked if I could have help with the bedroom sets ands she told me she was very busy and that she could just point me in their direction. I was appauled at this non service but I figured somebody would come help me since I WAS THE ONLY CUSTOMER IN THE STORE. I hung out upstairs for a while and nobody showed up...So I left and I called back to let them know I was not happy and the lady did not care she just said uhh huh and I hung up but not before saying that I'd be Yelping this experience ASAP! read more

Shockingly horrible customer service! I went to Kantors to buy a wood file cabinet. The furniture was wrapped in plastic and put in my car, apparently someone also locked it but failed to give me the key. Right when I got back to my office, I realized that it would not open, so I called the salesperson who helped me, which started one of the worst ordeals for something so simple. I had to make arrangements for someone to come to my office with the proper tools to get it open. Making the arrangements turned out to be difficult, which was frustrating since I was just trying to buy a simple file cabinet. The following day, when the repair guy came to my office, all he had was a screw driver. He wanted to take the furniture with him since he could not open it, and he anticipated having to damage it to open it and then they would fix it. I was very hesitant to have it out of my office, I thought it may be further damaged, and was also sick of having to make so many arrangements for this one piece of furniture. The following day late in the day, I finally called back to the sales person, since no one would call me to update me; she suggested that I dropped the furniture, and somehow by doing so locked it (she blamed me instead of a saying anything like "sorry for the hassle". One more day passed, no call or anything from Kantors. I sent an e-mail to the owner to try to get help on the issue. Minutes after sending this e-mail, I got a call from him (I was sort of impressed that he called me so quickly, but it was also a little intrusive since it was at 8pm on a Friday night, never the less I thought it was positive that he seemed to care). The owner, Neal Kantor, seemed apologetic and promised me to resolve this quickly. The next day (Saturday around 11am), Neal Kantor called me, but instead of trying to resolve this issue, he yelled at me, blamed me for this happening, and insisted I broke the furniture. The ironic thing is, the furniture was not at all broken when it left my office, it was simply locked and I was never given a key to open it. Neal Kantor followed up on his extremely rude phone call with the following email: "Nice you can take all this time to write your feelings, when you broke the product, know you broke the product, and we come out To repair, take the product to our warehouse to repair. Awful awful awful. We went in for office furniture and were passed off to three different people. Our needs were simple. Perhaps too simple. Once they realized we wouldn't neccessarily buy the floor models they were schlepping, and they might have to do more work--- the 3rd person simply abandonned us for an easier or possibly more lucrative sale. I've been on the hunt for a cozy, stylish couch on the cheap for over a month. After combing the sprawling aisles of couches at Kantors, I realized that you've got to be secretly in love with Ashley Furniture in order to like this place. Though the quality for the price is better than, say, Ikea, the styles of couches are dated (tons of overstuffed leather and recliners!) and not fitting for a twenty-something aged couple. I managed to find a couple of couches I thought I could settle for because the price was good and just get a different upholstery, but you can only get them in the one color/fabric shown (ugh). Another thing--on LOTS of Ashley furniture, the back pillows are attached (which I found very tacky) making them kinda rigid and the covers cannot be removed for cleaning. In fact, several of the couches we sat on were very stiff in both the back and seat. Two stars instead of one because the staff were friendly and not pushy, the prices are good, and also the office furniture selection looked pretty okay (didn't really check it out, but there was a ton--also bedroom furnishings upstairs). We did find better deals on Ashley Furniture at Dimensional Design in Oaklnd and the guy seemed like he'd probably negotiate with you for cash. If you're into furniture that has a bit more character (in a good way) and cozy factor, check out Sitcom in Oakland and Unique Images in Berkeley (where we ended up finding THE perfect couch at a great deal!)--both have unique, classy, comfy, quality furniture for several hundred dollars cheaper than Ikea. read more

However, hours posted on the door clearly stated open till 7pm. Furious that I rushed down there after I was told they would be open only to find that was not the case. Been to this store twice looking for home office furniture and was disappointed both times with the customer service. It's been difficult to find home office furniture, therefore my reason for coming back the second time. Willing to spend between 2K-3K, I did not feel that the salespeople were very attentive or helpful. I asked for pricing from one associate and he ended up helping someone else while we was supposedly looking up the price. Once I got the attention from a second salesperson, he came over and stepped in with the price, but let her take over. She was a bit better, but still did not seem eager to sit down and discuss what I was interested in. It's unfortunate because I am willing to purchase what they have, but I am now looking for a different store that sells the same furniture to give my business. In todays economy, customer service really needs to stand out if businesses want to survive. Price is not everything. On the positive side, they do have a large selection and good prices. read more

They had this store on Bay Area Bargains and they were having a tax free weekend so we decided to check it out. We thought their prices were pretty affordable and of good quality. We ended up purchasing a sofa and dining set for about $700 total. We live on the 3rd floor (no elevator) so delivery at $75 was a bargain. I would definitely come here for furniture pieces before going to other discount furniture stores or IKEA. The staff was really helpful and not overbearing. Been meaning to review this company, after seeing there "tv" show er, big expensive commercial, I needed a small couch and found one there, after trying it out and was satisfied with it, bought it, after 6 weeks, it was delivered. At first it was nice, but due to my long work weeks, I did not use it much, so when it started to sag and become uncomfortable my warranty was up. Made a call or two these folks, but no response, it makes one wonder how they can still be in business when they sell garbage. I did open up the couch and was able to make repairs and was surprised to find the cheap material used, no wonder it did not last. do your homework and find a better place to go, and a better warranty. read more

A friend suggested I go to Kantor's Furniture for my new office space at home. I ended up getting all of my office furniture plus a new chair for my living room. The selection is amazing. The sales person, Neal, was very nice and really funny. If you need home or office furniture, I highly recommend you stop at Kantor's first. You won't be disappointed. read more

I had the best customer service at Kantor's than I've ever experienced from a furniture store. Susie was incredibly diligent, responsible, and helpful. She ROCKS. I was trying to get a matching end table and she spent a lot of time and effort with a supplier to get me the end table I wanted. Despite the modest cost of the piece of furniture I was buying (about $200), she spent a long time on the phone with a supplier, called me multiple times to keep me up to speed on the process, and really went above and beyond to make sure I received the product I wanted. My husband and I are planning on going back to Kantor's and working with Susie on future furniture purchases. read more
