She told me this happens a lot so I don't trust going back and using my card again, and I work a full day the next day and don't have more time to waste on this. Not only are your targeted clientele shopping at your store for a bargain because we're trying to save money, but we also don't appreciate being asked to charge our card twice when the money is already gone. my husband even tried calling and speaking to the owner only to be told the same thing. So I left without my seat and without my $33. I don't have infinite time to go back and forth to their hard-to-get-into location right off busy Main st, so it's unfortunate we couldn't come to a solution over the phone with the owner. They have a surprising amount of space and offer lots of (and primarily) clothes for women. There are also a few odds and ends peppered in -- some handbags, some jewelry, some picture frames. There were 6 or so older ladies, including the manager, catching up in the front of the store and I felt a little out of place browsing the racks which seem to have an older than 20-something appeal. So I didn't work up the courage to ask about doffing that sweater, but I might be back in the fall! And if ever I age as gracefully and stylishly as those women, this will be the place I build my wardrobe.

But once I walked inside I knew I'd come to the right place: racks upon racks filled with all sorts of saris and traditional gowns. The owner, Gita, was wonderful, she helped point me in the right direction and gave me advice on what to wear: style, color, how to fix my hair, jewelry to wear, etc. I was able to try on several different outfits, most ranging between $99-110 (that's the lowest quote she could give me on the gowns, there were more expensive options though, and the sari's start around $35). My only complaint is that the dresses are as they come, you can have sleeves added if there is extra fabric that comes with the dress (I was quoted $7 for both sleeves which includes a tucking in of the bodice as well). But if the dress does fit or doesn't fit, that's the risk you run. My gown, a beautiful long navy blue dress with silver stitching across the bodice, cost $99+tax. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Roopkala and would return in the future for a traditional Indian dress.
