Hands down some of the best donuts I've ever had. If Dunk's is like the standard or average, this is much higher than average. I believe it's something like $3 per donut but it is well worth it! Their donuts have a long established reputation and they can set the market higher than " not Kanes " donuts. When I'm not running late for work, this is an excellent place to stop for my daily coffee/latte. It is not very often that I'm not running late for work though lol. I love stopping in here because, even though it is such a long and early morning there for everyone, they respect you (they also deserve respect from you) and they work very hard. The variety of food that they have is pretty great and the quality is wonderful. Love this place, and it is especially nice because there's never a long line. That just means they're super efficient. Giant donuts that manage to be not as greasy as most. Their raised donuts are worth the drive alone - light and fluffy and yeasty and with great glazes that taste like the real thing (strawberry tastes like actual strawberry and not artificial strawberry flavoring, for example). My biggest beef with donut shops is so many times they will have a great donut but when it comes to getting a coffee to wash it down with, the coffee selection is either limited to a generic cup they pump from the insulated carafes or a gimmicky cup that you can get in a thousand flavors (also from a pre-made carafe). That said, Kane's serves Stumptown, including nitro cold brew, if that's your jam, and it's all delicious and done well, with a limited number of flavor shots to add. Makes for a nice well-rounded coffee and donut experience. Parking is limited, though there's plenty of street space, and it's busy with limited seating. The coffee roll is bigger than your face. Legit. And, at ~$1.50 for one (very large!) donut, or ~$12.50 for a dozen, it's money well spent. We were lucky to have a $10 Google offer [similar to GroupOn] that allowed us to buy up to $20.00 worth of goodies from Kanes. There are a variety of donuts to choose from, each topped or filled with different yummy things, but by far the ones to get are anything with butternut, raspberry preserves, or coconut. If you don't like donuts, pies, muffins, breads (like pumpkin and banana nut), cupcakes, and other pastries are available too. Coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and other beverages are also available at Kanes with ample seating to enjoy your purchases. A small parking lot is attached to Kanes, which is a good plus. AND! The workers are incredibly helpful and nice. We were the group of dingbats that came strolling into the store 30 minutes before closing, and were happy to see that a good variety of things were left for us to purchase. I had one of those headaches that are called headaches even though you really just feel it in your eyeballs and at the bridge of your nose which are both on your head technically, but your head is your skull, right, so I'd actually call it a faceache if anything but anyway. The pain was astounding and had me dizzy to the point of falling over, so I laid my throbbin' noggin down on a big, cushiony pillow and passed out to dreams of chocolate rivers, jelly volcanos and mountain climbers scaling monumental cupcakes with snowy peaks of icing and fondant. And in this land o' candy and pastries, I crossed a peppermint bark street without looking both ways and was hit by a cocoa Cadillac cruising at on outrageous 7mph. There are gummy children in this neighborhood! But it was a warm day, so the car crumpled before I did, ejecting its Chocolate Buttercrunch radials upward and outward, and into my "Oh noooo!" open mouth which closed and opened over and over until the tire had disappeared. Now, with the sweet taste of expertly crafted donut in my craw, I turned my attention to the Yield sign, ignored by the Caddy's captain and glistening in the butterscotch sun. One bite, and it proved to be a most addictive honey dipped donut, which made sense as I was in the Donut district of Donutville. Right by the donut store. Y'know, Kane's Donuts? I went back for another piece of that Yield sign and noticed the sun glowing brighter and brighter and brighter until finally... I woke up. And when I did, I noticed my pillow was gone. I have visited Kane's on many occasions and usually travel quite the distance for donuts. The variety and flavors are spot on. I'd say some of the best donuts I've eaten. The donuts are light and fluffy and practically melt in your mouth. They are soft and fresh, and I've yet to see one that tasted stale. I've left those tokens of goodness on my counter for a couple days and they remain almost as good as when taken off the racks.
