Really enjoyed taking a stroll through Kane Woods. All together the trail offers around 4 miles of walking area. The trails range from easy to moderate marked by posts/signs. There are few benches scattered throughout these trails for those looking to relax and observe the landscape. The shrubbery provides ample shade for those sensitive to sunlight or just to stay cool. There are creeks throughout the area that offer great vibes.

Yet another cool spot to add to my local outdoor hiking list. Kane Woods Nature Area offers several things I look for in a go-to quick hiking destination. For starters, Kane Woods Nature Area offers 3-4 miles of trails, some that easily connect to each other. They aren't blazed but there are markers along the way making it easy to wander around and not worry about getting lost. The trails are well cleared. Second, there are benches found around the trails. I don't always stop and sit around, but it's nice to have the option of sitting down for a drink or a snack or just to listen to what's in the woods around you. Third, the trees offer lots of shade on warmer sunny days. Lastly, they have parking. There is parking available at the Jewish Community Center and two trailheads that I found, one at Whiskey Point and another at Scrubgrass Run. I'd recommend the parking at Scrubgrass Run because there are more spaces and there is also a map at that trailhead. Beyond that, it's a small but serene place. I found beautiful wildflowers and water features along my hike that made me stop to enjoy and take it all in. Which is what hiking is all about.

Absolutely incredible…read more I don't go to botanical gardens much so I don't really have qualifications to compare or rate any particular place but Phipps blew me away. I like plants. I have some. I thought seeing a bunch of plants might be fun but I wasn't expecting it to be such a wonderful experience! The place is quite large considering most of it is inside. It is organized for a few different environments and a little something for everyone depending on what your floral preferences might be. It took us about an hour and a half to go through the whole thing. Got a lot of pictures. Saw a lot of interesting and cool plants as well as beautiful flowers. Highly recommend this as a stop on any and every Pittsburgh trip.

Pgh Candle & Phipps partnered for an evening at Botany Hall…read more We selected our scented oils and were able to create our own soy candles. The vessel was a lovely shade of green and had some weight. Simple instructions for those of us who were not-crafty. While our candles were solidifying, we were able to go see the Spring show. Lovely evening. Definitely would do again.
