I was delighted to discover that old-fashioned personal service at a reasonable price is still with us! The folks at the Optical Shop were able to breathe new life into my old but much-loved eyeglasses by replacing the arms and little nose pieces. It doesn't seem like a big deal, but I was facing having to mail them and wait weeks to get them back, with no guarantee that they would fit. I was able to walk into the store and a very nice man was able to do the entire job on the spot and he didn't charge me an arm and a leg! My glasses look and fit great now! If you wear glasses, save yourself time and money by visiting the Optical Shop first. You'll be glad you did!

The young female optometrist performed one of the most thorough eye exams I have ever enjoyed, including both for spectacles and contact lens. She allowed me plenty of time to ask questions. This doctor quickly determined that the progressive lens in the glasses I got from St Johns Eyecare were absolutely not a correct Rx, in that the reading portion of the progressive lens were way, way too weak for me for reading. Such as I kept telling the staff and Dr Lennon at St Johns Eye Care, that they were not working well for me for reading at all. I liked the frames so we used them for an accurate Rx and I retained the faulty Rx lens to prove my complaint about St Johns Eye Care was accurate from the get go: that I was not provided a correct Rx, and on top of it St Johns Eye Care refused to check the glasses and also refused to remedy the problem with the lenses. Not only did they completely waste my 2024 vision benefits, and my time and expense in extra trips there, that resulted in an expensive pair of unusable glasses; they subjected me to a physical confrontation and humiliation in front of several other patients, all toward intimidating me into leaving from what had been a scheduled 're-check' appt. I wasn't going to stand for it. On community chat groups there were quite a few other people in the Palatka FL area who had similar tales of rude behavior and problem Rx from St Johns Eyewear. So Dr Lennon's response to my initial Yelp! review, like his work, is not accurate.

It's only taken us three eye doctors to get it figured out, but finally we got a good one. The Palatka vision center was great. The front desk ladies were very nice. They gave us everything we needed all the paperwork and asked if we had any questions. Everyone was very nice and very patient. My husband saw Dr. Miles he immediately asked him what was going on with his eyes. It wasn't an assistant. It wasn't a nurse. It was actually him. They talked about his eyes and what was going on and Dr. Miles actually told him what was wrong and how we would solve the problem. I can't tell you how great it feels to finally have this problem resolved. He was patient and caring and actually listened. I didn't try to get you out within five minutes. You made sure everything was good and understood before we left. It's a family owned an operated business all the brothers and uncles that work there are all great. I highly recommend if you're in the area where you live close that you make this vision center for your needs. They also have a wide selection of glasses and sunglasses to choose from. They take most insurance and also health insurance if you have problems with your eyes like my husband did. This will definitely be our new place to go for all our vision needs. And last but not least if you see Mr. pickles don't let him out. Lol

Terrible customer service and I'm not a complainer. In fact, this is the only negative complaint…read moreI've ever posted. After buying a pair of glasses (around $500) I had to return them three times due to the lens falling out. The first time, the frames were a little bent and the girl actually broke the lens trying to fix them. So I was charged $125 to replace the frames. Three days later one of the lens fell out of the new frames. After having that fixed the lens fell out the very next day. My friend who is a retired optician actually called them and suggested that they put a sealant on the screws. Hopefully the third time will take care of the problem. So if you want professional help and kind people that actually look you in the eye as if they care I'd suggest another place. I know I'll be looking elsewhere for my next pair of glasses.
