8/26/2025 Update: I was able to use my 2025 vision benefits to go to a reputable optometric/optician practice in Gainesville this spring. The young female optometrist performed one of the most thorough eye exams I have ever enjoyed, including both for spectacles and contact lens. She allowed me plenty of time to ask questions. This doctor quickly determined that the progressive lens in the glasses I got from St Johns Eyecare were absolutely not a correct Rx, in that the reading portion of the progressive lens were way, way too weak for me for reading. Such as I kept telling the staff and Dr Lennon at St Johns Eye Care, that they were not working well for me for reading at all. I liked the frames so we used them for an accurate Rx and I retained the faulty Rx lens to prove my complaint about St Johns Eye Care was accurate from the get go: that I was not provided a correct Rx, and on top of it St Johns Eye Care refused to check the glasses and also refused to remedy the problem with the lenses. Not only did they completely waste my 2024 vision benefits, and my time and expense in extra trips there, that resulted in an expensive pair of unusable glasses; they subjected me to a physical confrontation and humiliation in front of several other patients, all toward intimidating me into leaving from what had been a scheduled 're-check' appt. I wasn't going to stand for it. On community chat groups there were quite a few other people in the Palatka FL area who had similar tales of rude behavior and problem Rx from St Johns Eyewear. I need to update this post. It has been 2 months since we had this horrible experience. I am still traumatized by it. It took my husband and I several days to calm our hearts and emotions after we were treated so horribly! And to add more injury to insult I received a message from Medicare that they billed me $170 after paying them $32 in cash when we checked out. That's $200 for an eye exam and a prescription for bifocals! They told us upfront it would be $85 for the visit. These people are frauds! I took the original post down because we live in a small rural town and I was afraid of retaliation. The brunette bully definitely needs anger management and I am afraid of what she might do. The office staff is rude beyond words. Watch out for the brunette who comes barreling out of the back room to bully and insult you, a senior citizen, in front of several other patients. I have been receiving vision care for decades without EVER experiencing such unprofessional and unethical behavior. The man at the front desk was courteous and professional. There was a nice young girl at the front desk. There was a nice young girl that assisted in my eye exam. There is an older lady who assisted the Dr. There was a very rude young woman who actually tore up my paperwork because I did not fill out where she could get my previous medical history! I haven't been to an ophthalmologist in 8 years! I'm new in the area and don't have a primary. They verbally attacked my husband claiming he was in someone's personal space when he was merely trying to point at a form that she was holding! The brunette came charging out of the back room yelling at my husband accusing him of a woman beater! He's 76, has bladder cancer and Parkinson's! I have NEVER seen him raise a hand to anyone, male or female! Dr. Lennon is kind, professional, thorough, and caring. He just needs to replace MOST of his staff. I don't need the grief or abuse! I'll take my business somewhere else. Somebody better get their office together! read more

DO NOT GO THERE!!! I went in for eye exam for my contacts been wearing 32 years. From 11/11/24 to 12/19 24 before I could get my trial pairs only right eye change . The contacts for right eye came in and even though I had contact for left they refused to give so I waited until 19 then they said to wear a week and if I like them they would give me my script. I called the 30th and told them they were fine and I asked if I could pick up my script they said yes I asked if it was ready and she said they would print it when I got there . I walked to get it only to be told no the doctor had to look in my eyes to make sure I could see . Crazy never happened in 32 years I was told I had to make an appointment by this I was done I said no not doing I'm done. I lost $575 insurance for my contacts because of their ineptness. It a scam. Called my insurance and they call and low and behold they said they told i could see the doctor then what a BIG LIE. Who would drive 35 minutes to pickup a script and then refuse to wait a few minutes. Have been lied to every step of the way DO NOT GO THERE. read more

I don't recommend going here. They will text you saying that you need to reschedule your appointment, won't tell you why the first three times that you call and then the fourth time that you call, they will say that your doctor's out with health issues and then when you ask to reschedule, they get an attitude because you don't know what next week you're available. If you're going to have an attitude while on the phone with a customer, you shouldn't be working there. I'll take my business somewhere else since they make you feel like you're not welcome here. read more

This is the worst place to try to get glasses if your insurance will let you go elsewhere. I certainly would had $500 credit frames where only 125$ but said they don't do transitions funny same glasses as last year. Somebody better get their office together. Child has Medicaid. They will not fill Rx given by Eye Specialist because they are "not wanting to", Even though Medicaid says that they can and should offer this service. The office staff is rude beyond words, so hence I sadly and rudely gave it back to them. They only want to bill extra to make more money. Not following the government rules. This office and staff should be removed and closed down and not allowed to accept this form of assistance if they do not help everyone. read more

The eye Doctor was really nice and although they were busy he did his best to get me seen and taken care of as quickly as possible. My only issue is that when I picked out my frames and ordered my glasses from them at the end of the visit, I was told they would be ready in about 2 weeks. It has been almost 3 weeks since that appointment and still no glasses. This was my first eye appointment in years so I have no other pairs until they come in and have no clue what my prescription is because they never gave me a copy. I called 15 days after my appointment and my glasses hadn't come in and I was given no additional information. I've been trying to call to see if my glasses are in yet for the second time and can't seem to get through over the phone. I just want to be able to see normally again so I can function like a normal person! Hoping I can pick up my glasses soon. read more

Literally called my insurance and apparently the insurance company gave me the wrong place because they DO NOT ACCEPT UHC MEDICAID. The receptionist was absolutely unprofessional and very disrespectful. I couldn't barely speak because she was cutting me off to ask me when I wanted to schedule. I asked "is there any availability for apt" and instead of stating how far out their apt are, she then asked me in a very high toned voice "uh? Today? Tomorrow? And I'm like yeah! Whatever is the soonest and she says "well we don't have anything till the middle of January, do you wanna book? Honestly couldn't sit there and have a simple conversation with her. I have worked and felt with customer service, but in no way, was I disrespectful or confusing! She cut me off to rudely state they don't accept Medicaid. I will never think about coming to this place again if the front lady can't sell what the back lady has. Horrible receptionist and piss poor communication. I WOULD GIVE 0 stars if I could! read more

Had a appointment today and after I ordered and paid for my glasses and my husbands glasses( mind you we have been coming here for over 10+yrs) we left and I get a phone call that there was a mistake with our insurance, I responded no problem we will come back up, as soon as we walk in the NEW girl Jessica sitting behind the receptionist desk rudely as what we need, I said we were called back there was a issue with our INS, she then rolls her eyes gets up steps into another room to get the office manager, comes back smirks and rolls her eyes at us again!! I then tell her that's was in called for and rude, she then proceeded to argue with me that she's just trying to help us, " no dear your just being condescending and rude". The office manager Ashley comes out and explained the issue, which Jessica still proceeded with comments. At that time I had had enough asked for our paper work and for them to cancel our eyeglass order and we would not be coming back. I ABSOLUTELY HATE GIVING A BAD REVIEW!! Dr. Deputy and his assistant that works in the BACK ( there are 2 different Jessica's ) are amazing and fabulous and we have always had a great experience there, but the new front office staff are HORRIBLE!! No customer service at all!!! read more

The doctor was very profesional and nice. What I didn't like were two receptionist at the front desk. They rolled their eyes every time I had a question and spoke like they didn't care for their job. It's a shame that the receptionist can be the reason why a nice doctor looses clients. Don't waste your money here. read more

I am not sure what these other people are talking about, but I drive all the way to this office from Keystone for my exams because I love them and have never had a problem! Sad how many miserable people there are in this world! Guess sometimes they just need a reason to complain cause they hate their own life. Dr. Lennon is a fantastic doctor as well as Dr. Deputy, and the prices for the exam are much lower than other places I have been. They always give a thorough exam and are very attentive to my needs. I am, well, was a long time customer of this business, guessing 10 years. While on a trip I lost my glasses. When I requested info to order another pair so i would have them when i get home I got a real taste of their customer no service. I was told due to liability issues that the information I requested would not be provided. I was also told no optician would release this information. I called Wright Eye Care in Kingsland Ga., whom had checked my eyes in the past and they provided the information and saved the day. I have never had an issue with St. Johns...but, this was the first time I ask them for anything. NO Customer service unless you buy from them. I now know where I will go from now on. I didn't like this place. It's very small and the lady at the front desk looked and acted like she hated life. Then the lady that helps you pick out glasses and fits them wasn't much better. They told me it could take up to 2 weeks for my glasses to come in, which seems like forever when you need them! After the 2 weeks I still didn't hear back so I called and they oh yeah we have them. Great. Very aggravating. They also didn't have many glasses to choose from I had to settle on a pair. The only reason I went there was because they took my Insurence. But I will deff take the time to go elsewhere next time. They're just rude. read more

I called to make my son eye doctor appointment the receptionist was rude as ever talked to me like I was a unwanted child so I gave her the same attitude back. She documented that my son missed too many appointments so the dumb ass doctor went with it and wouldn't take my son as a patient. They're rude poor white trailer trash unprofessional white sluts. What a wonderful experience. St. John's Eye Care accepted my insurance and I was so pleased with the customer service. I've never had an optometrist as wonderful as Dr. Lennon. He was so pleasant, very informative, and was so efficient. I was able to choose a super stylish pair of glasses with Wendy's help! They even have sunglasses =) I decided to get a pair of polarized sunglasses because they were such a great price and they look amazing! Overall, a fantastic experience =) read more
