I am new to the area and very disappointed in my attempt to fin a dentist close to home. First off I had been trying to call for 2 days - not one time in the 2 days I had been trying to call did an answering machine pick up. Finally today I call 3 times back to back and a lady picks up and her greeting is " a very rude WHAT!!! I tell her I need to make an appointment- very rud she tells me to call back because she isn't i front of a computer and she is very busy because they close at 2 ?? Not 4 like it is advertise. I told her nevermin. Why in the world would I want to open my mouth in that plac. Move to the country they said people are so nice. Just an FYI sooner or later you will need new customers - being rude isn't going to get them. 1 star is too man. read more

Been using the fine folk at Hicks Dental for around 15 years. They have responded to emergencies, provided great routine care and performed more than one root canal on me. In addition to the wonderful dentists, the staff is top notch. Did I mention they provide coffee and fresh cookies? Well, they do! read more

First Dentist practice in 55 years I actually don't mind going to. The entire staff is friendly and everyone smiles. They seem to use the latest, most advanced technology available. So far (5 years or so) I am very happy with crown work and cleanings (that's all I've needed). No one has tried to sell me all sorts of stuff/treatments like they tend to do at most dentist offices. I've never waited more than a few minutes past my appointment time and often taken early. And if you're good, you get a couple of freshly baked cookies on your way out. read more

Nice folk. Ms. Hicks personable. Unfortunately for me two small cavities identified after a new full X-ray series. I haven't had fillings for years so okay! The next day a quarter of a tooth fell off - I thought it was one they filled. I went back. No dentist but the technician took pictures than happily reported 'it wasn't ours!'. My perspective I had a tooth with lots of silver from years ago. The vibration from the drilling created a fracture line neat as heck and the 1/4 of a tooth came off. There was not one word of condolence. The only action was to park me in their sales room presenting a proposed plan of a $1400 crown with no 'plan B'. Doing innertube checks I find there are 'plan B's' and differing costs. I even sent a post card to Ms. Hicks to verify she is aware of this customer un-friendly approach. It went without response. The dentist is not the cheapest in town but perhaps the least concerned with maintaining customers. read more

Waited to post this because afraid of repercussions... Well, been trying to arrange for a root canal from this office for the past two months. I have some special circumstances so have been trying to work out the situation but after six weeks of trying to get this together, Dr Hicks decided he was not comfortable performing the root canal. Sent us elsewhere for procedure at an office in Fleming Island which is an hour away. The procedure was performed by a very qualified Endodontist. Today, had an appointment with Hicks Dentistry to do the build up for a crown, but there was still significant lingering pain. Showed up for appointment, described the pain... Dr Hicks would not see me and sent his desk Staff in to tell me to go home and take ibuprofen. We did NOT ASK FOR PAIN MEDS. Very disappointed that this dentist does not have confidence or professional decency to meet with a patient who is in pain. We phoned the Endodontist office and they made an appointment for tomorrow to make a check on the previous work and they also took time to chat about the situation. We will look for another office to finish the crown work since we cannot rely on Hicks Dental to finish what was started two months ago. We never argued about cost and they never had a problem cashing the checks...only go to this office if you have no issues and require only routine care. 7-22-16 On 6-15-16 I went for my appointment at Hicks Dental in Palatka, Florida. I had some chipped teeth that needed fixing. It had been a while since my last visit. I received a cleaning, x-rays, and exam. I then sat down in a office and was told the results of the exam and what the cost would be to fix my chipped teeth. The below dental codes and costs were given to me. Tth18 D2392 $235, Tth25 D2330 $197, Tth8 D2332 $315, Tth9 D2332 $315 Total cost: $1062 I asked how much my insurance would pay, the woman asked if I had insurance. I said the office made a copy of my insurance card a week and half before my appointment. The woman checked with the office and they said I did have insurance. The woman took my copy of the costs and crossed out the $1062 and made it $935. The woman said she would submit a pre-treatment estimate to my insurance company to find out how much they would pay. The estimate came back and my insurance would pay $270. I received a letter from Hicks Dental stating the final cost of fixing my chipped teeth would be $650. I called Hicks Dental and said I could not afford the treatment. I found another dentist and my insurance will cover 70% of the cost compared to 40% at Hicks Dental. Dan Weston read more
