What a fabulous experience! I've been watching head spa videos on YouTube for years and this was my first opportunity to try one in person. Melissa has created a beautiful environment for relaxation, pampering, and health. The scalp and hair treatment and facial were everything I hoped for and I'll be back! Update days later: I can't believe how amazing my hair looks and feels. I didn't really know what to expect in terms of ongoing results. But even other people have noticed how beautiful my hair is since this treatment. read more

Holistic. Good company. Amazing products. Kanary checks all the boxes! The winter had done a number on my skin so I was looking to revive it and start a skincare routine that was easy to maintain and would give me healthy and clear skin without using chemical filled products. Melissa provided the best experience and was a wealth of knowledge! She customized my facial to achieve my skin goals and recommended some simple solutions for every day use. I couldn't recommend Kanary more and can't wait to go back! read more

I just had my first cut and color with Melisa after a 7 year relationship with my prior stylist. I was afraid to make the change because of my long standing hair relationship. Well I'm glad I got over myself and got into see her, finally. She did an absolutely amazing job. My hair looks better than it has in a long time. The highlights she placed are to the root, something I haven't been getting with my previous stylist and honestly thought all stylists didn't do. Well, I was wrong. I won't be looking back now. Thanks Melisa, I look forward to seeing you again in a few weeks. read more

This is my second review for Melisa. She recently moved from Walnut Creek to Clayton and WOW is she amazing. I am a blonde with really fine hair so it can kind of be a nightmare to do. Melisa has been doing my hair for about 8 months and each time it looks great. I told her I would follow her any where and now its true. The Clayton spot is super easy to get to with great parking. If you are looking for a cut or a GREAT color at GREAT pricing Melisa is a must. read more

I love Kanary. Best all natural products for skin. I have had sugaring done and facials. Melissa is amazing. I recently had a facial and at the time i had a sun spot on my forhead that i thought i would never get rid of but what ever she put on my face made it dissapear. Seriously!!! I will definitely be including monthy facials into my skin care routine!! I would suggest her to anybody wanting a natural approach to taking care of your skin!!! read more

Melissa is incredible. She is extremely personable and makes you feel completely at ease. She introduced me to Sugaring (an alternative to waxing) and I love it! The small studio is welcoming and comfortable with a farmhouse chic look. Overall, I highly recommend Melissa to take care of your lady regions. read more

I have been going to the same stylist for years and have been in sort of a hair funk. So I went to Yelp to begin my hunt for a new stylist. I found Melissa, read the 5 star reviews and made my appointment. What an amazing experience, she's friendly, professional, innovative and took me from blah to BAM! She fixed the years of cheap salon dyes and damaged hair. She helped me find a color that would compliment my complexion and gave me a vision of where we can go in the future. Thank you Yelp reviews and thank you Melissa for reinventing my hair! read more

Melisa is amazing!! I moved back to California about 5 years ago and I have yet to find a hairstylist, from San Francisco to Walnut Creek, that could successfully cut & color my hair to my standards. Melisa is the best at both! She has never made a mistake, she just gets better every time I go in! People are constantly asking me about my hair & complimenting my bangs & my color since I started seeing her!. Also, I'm trying to grow my hair out and I hate when stylists hear you say that and still do a "trim" which ends up being a "cut". Melisa listens & gives it a light dust rather than chopping it!! She also has great ideas and new hot styles for cuts.. Great for when you're bored with your hairstyle! She's never late nor flaky on scheduling, which is super important for my busy life. Love her! read more

I love, love the way Melisa colors and cuts my hair. I always get lots of compliments when she does my hair. She has been coloring my hair for years and I wouldn't have it any other way! I live in Santa Cruz and drive to the Easy Bay just to see her. I have long, thick, dark hair and I like copper highlights (not every stylist can do this well, because copper can easily go orange). Melisa gets it right every time and it looks natural. I love it. Best stylist I've ever been to. read more

Melisa is AMAZING. I was referred to her by a friend and I couldn't be happier . I would recommend anyone of my friends or family to her . She's also very friendly so it makes the experience even BETTER! read more

MK is the only place I go. Always an amazing cut and experience. Salon has a great feel.

I always love my hair when Melisa does it! I am blonde, so it is extremely difficult to find someone that knows how to do blonde highlights and/or work with blonde hair. I loved her so much that I followed her from Walnut Creek to Clayton. I have never been disappointed with my color. She always gets down to the roots! (a huge problem I've had in the past. I would leave my past stylists and felt ripped off because I would have roots the very next day!) She even cuts my sons hair and I love it! read more

Saw Melisa for a cut and highlight after being referred to her by a friend. I love the cut and the highlights are amazing! I love knowing that I don't have to travel to Walnut Creek now to have a talented stylist do my hair. Another plus is that there is plenty of free parking! Thanks Melisa for giving me an amazing, fresh look, read more

I had my first cut, color and highlight by Melisa today and I couldn't be happier. She really understood what type of style and overall look I was going for and how to achieve it. The first thing she asked me when I sat in her chair was 'tell me what isn't working for you with your current style'. I don't think any stylist has asked me that before. We talked for awhile about options and decided on a stylish wavy bob with fresher, richer color and a few highlights for that extra kick. My hair feels great, it has movement and style now instead of just laying there, and the color is beautiful. Add to that, she's extremely personable and fun to talk to. Overall a fantastic experience! read more

Melisa has been doing my hair for about year and I've had more compliments on my hair in this past year than I ever had. She knows exactly what will work with my hair and does amazing work with color. I've recommended her to a couple of friends and they have all switched over to Melisa. Her new salon is small, friendly and has great parking. read more

Melisa is a great stylist! I am so bad at explaining what I want but Melisa is so patient with me and helps me to get the cut and color that works for me and my skin-tone. I'm a dark brunette and we recently did ombre, relatively subtle at the ends and I love it. Clayton is out of the way for me, but I've followed her there because I love my hair and trust her! Melisa is also great at recommending the right products, e.g. to help re-hydrate my hair after the bleaching. Thanks Melisa! read more

Hands down, Melisa is the best hairdresser I have ever had! I am super picky when it comes to my hair and I have been to so many stylists in the Walnut Creek/Concord area. I use to go to different hairdressers for different things (I know that sounds crazy), but Melisa does everything the way I want it. I go to Melisa for my cut and color. She's amazing! She listens to your hair issues and works with your hair to make it the healthiest and best it has ever been. I like knowing that she uses high quality color/product for my hair (and i can def tell the difference). It's great to go to a hairdresser who just loves what she does. Not to mention, Melisa is just an awesome person. I love going to her because not only do I trust her with my hair but I always feel great when I leave her salon. I'm so glad I found Melisa! read more
