If you read my review about Kamuning Bakery, you know how I appreciate the rustiness of the place. When I heard that they turned the room beside it to a café, me and my friend had our breakfast there the following morning right away.
Upon entering the room, I immediately felt the breeze of the air-con beating the scorching heat outside, their new painted white walls are also fancied by paintings from known artists and framed newspaper write-ups of the old bakery. Antique furniture displays also complemented the whole theme of the room. It's practically the modern-old-fashioned version of the actual old bakery right beside it.
We ordered quite a number of dishes that seemed delectable on the menu. My friend had Lucban Longganisa with garlic rice and sunny side up egg (P150.00), a slice of egg pie (P45) and a cup of brewed coffee from India (P75) while I had Longganisa Pomodoro Pasta(P190.00), Pan de Suelo with Hamon and Kesong Puti (P160.00), and a cup of tablea hot chocolate (P120.00). There were prices on the menu so we actually allowed ourselves to splurge some money for breakfast trusting that the recipes will give justice to the price.
We appreciated how they try to incorporate native Filipino dishes on their menu, but after eating, I personally think that it's too pricey for the quality and the amount of food served. I am no chef, but I cook and I trust my taste. What we had is something that I can also do in my kitchen, so I don't think it is worth the price. But overall, the place is beautiful and really peaceful. It's a good place to sit with your laptop, have a meeting or just read a good book.
The old panaderia is still operating anyway, so if one wants a more rugged feel, cheap coffee and pastries, it's is the place to get your cup of hot drink and piece of bread. read more
