My wife and I ate at Dairy Dan in Chehalis yesterday. Two meals came to more than fifty dollars. That is a substantial bill for a drive-in burger stand, and the service did not justify it. The adult working in the back was dismissive from the outset. One of the burgers we wanted was unavailable. When I asked what it was, a young employee answered that they did not have them anyway not an apology, not an alternative, just a clipped remark that made the shortage sound like our problem. The tray was then dropped and slid across the table. I said thank you. The reply was "Yup." A drive-in puts its staff in front of the public. That is the job. These are young people being given a chance to work and earn money. The interaction we received suggested they have not been taught, or required, to treat customers with ordinary courtesy. One employee spent roughly twenty-five plus minutes in the restroom before appearing on the floor. Sink was dry, I did not see any handwashing before she handled our order. In a food business, that is not a small detail. Remember, you never know whom you are serving. The person at the counter is not just another ticket. Courtesy is not optional because the customer looks ordinary, and accountability does come in reviews, in lost business, and in a reputation a small shop cannot afford to shrug off. This is consistent with what other reviewers have described for some time prices that belong to a sit-down restaurant, difficulty finding a supervisor, and a tone from the counter that treats a complaint as an inconvenience. Dairy Dan's reputation has always rested more on ice cream than on burgers. After yesterday, the service problem is clearer than the food. If the check is going to look like a restaurant check, the staff should be held to restaurant standards, look people in the eye, acknowledge a simple thank-you, and have an adult accountable when something is out of stock or a tray hits the table. read more

Delicious Old school dairy style burger joint. That means Mayo burgers, from scratch onion rings, patty melts and shakes. Tasty cheese burger, packed with flavor and the special sauce. The price could be better for what you get, but I normally only get the milk shakes and their oversized ice cream cones. Husband and I stopped by on a road trip. He really enjoyed the double cheeseburger and fries. I got a Chicken strips and fries, with a small apple pie shake. The apple pie shake was delish! The fries were cooked perfectly, and so were the chicken strips however there was so much salt put on the chicken strips that I ended up tossing them after two bite. The fries also had a bit more seasoning salt than was necessary but I didn't want all of money to go to waste so I dealt with it. If I could give zero stars, I would. My husband went to Dairy Dan's to pick up lunch for our family. The staff working was incredibly rude. The food was very disappointing. Our son's cheeseburger was burnt. The fries were overcooked and mushy, just full of oil and basically inedible. The chicken strips were dry and the dipping sauce didn't help remedy it. One of the dirtiest restaurant I have ever been!! I really wanted to give more than one star but unfortunately I don't think it is possible. My husband and I are taking a road trip and we wanted to try something local. The food is just the average. There is nothing special about the burgers and fries. For the shake, I can give four stars but that is all. The restroom had dirty floor, overflow sink and restroom and main restaurant's trash can. There were paper towel on the floor since the trash can was totally full. I wonder how many hour the restroom haven't been cleaned since most of customers go to the drive through. The tables and floor were full of crumbs, specially the table and seats. When our food came, I asked for mustard and the woman gave me those typical (no brand) mustards container which was very very dirty. It was totally clogged, full of dust on top of it and very old crusty mustard all around. See pictures attached. Seriously? How can you guys offer such a dirty place for customers to eat? Although I would love to give a small business my support, I just cant with this place. Every time we go there, we are charged differently for the same exact order. I asked why at some point and a lady dismissed me by saying no, we dont charge different prices. The kids that work there are rude high school kids who give attitude when I dont tip. (I only tip people who serve me at a table) which makes it a VERY UNCOMFORTABLE and awkward sale. We went yesterday (my daughter loves it, otherwise I would not go) and it was so refreshing to get a sweet girl at the window! She has EXCELLENT customer service and is far better than anyone I've seen there! So, I called to speak with the manager about the sweet girl and her friendly attitude... after waiting for the manager for a few minutes, they hung up on me! It was so evident they get many calls for the manager, and they obviously didn't want to deal with who they thought was an unhappy customer. A TIP FOR DAIRY DANS... Pay a higher wage to gain employees who care about your business! read more

Service took nearly 20 minutes, waiting in parking lot, meal gets delivered- no onion rings no dipping sauce no ketchup. No price refund for the difference of onion rings to fries. I called asking to speak to the manager and 2 different people claimed to be the manager but neither would give me their name which I insisted on to report the overcharge. If you're in the mood for a great milkshake or burger, this is the spot. As previous reviewers have noted, the soft-serve ice cream is what makes this place famous. The food here is "eh"... the burgers are nothing special, even with their "special" sauce. I'd rather go to Red Robin or In and Out (however there aren't any around). A friend of mine got the coney dog and the thing was shriveled, as though it were a few days old. The fries were just okay... the onion rings were much better! But for $4, I'd rather make my own. However, the shakes are really good and the reason why I'd give this place three stars. Even being lactose intolerant, I'd gladly pay the price to sip one down every once in a while. The soft serve is pretty good too! The amount of flying insects in the place is a little worrisome... but lets just assume it's because they have a back door open somewhere?!
