Nicer looking website than school unfortunately. Nice building too but the staff is unprofessional and not actually there for the kids.

Since the principal ignored the issue the little girl who kept threatening my daughter that she was going to not stop until she was dead and she admitted all this on a group video chat of six it caused the rest of the girls to be emotionally distressed one of the kids threatened to bring a gun to school I heard it and immediately tried to take action I try to report it to the school to give them a heads up and they ignored me they told me I was tripping paranoid and I didn't know what I was talking about that they were only in sixth grade and nothing like that would ever happen at that school. No consequence was given to the girl harassing my daughter therefore my daughter and a group of friends decided to rough House in the school bathroom just playing around they weren't fighting they weren't bringing home to nobody they were just simply play fighting and because of that the principal then decided to suspend all six kids for play fighting not even making any threats to nobody meanwhile the little girl making threats to multiple kids still remained in school never got suspended I then took a different approach involving police making a report a week later my daughter was transferred to a different School without my knowledge the principal's saying you need to sign we've already did the transfer. She now goes to a different School where nobody likes her she's away from all of her friends and it's caused her to be depressed and the school district doesn't do nothing about it Paradise valley schools don't even care about their children and none of our kids are safe going to school anymore. My heart goes out to the kids that still remain at that school because they got to go to school in fear instead of feeling safe all because the principal wants to ignore dangerous threats.

She was only in 1st. She had been in a preschool that had a curriculum for three years before kindergarten, so she should have been either doing as well or better than most kids...not struggling like she was. I was told by a friend about Hearn Academy, so I went and checked it out and was very impressed. While she was attending the summer program, that they used to have, they noticed that she wasn't up to grade level and struggling. So they contacted us and asked if they could test her. This was without telling them we felt she was struggling. It was determined that she had a learning problem and needed help with training her brain to think differently and the teachers allowed more time for her to get her stuff done in he way that worked for her. After only 4 years with an IEP (in the special education program) she graduated out and was put in honors classes. I can't even and don't want to imagine what could have happened had she gone another 2 years without anyone working with her and us so that we too knew how to help her. Then my other child was advanced and we didn't even know it. Once again in the summer program before she even started Kindergarten we received a call that they wanted to test her as well as they felt she was getting board and may need to be in Honors classes as well. Who knew there was honors for Kindergarten. It turned out they were correct she is now in seventh grade and has been in the honors classes since day one and doing fantastic. The teachers seem to take the time to understand the kids and not treat them all the same. Are there issues at the school of course, is every teacher there perfect of course not, are there things there that can be improved of course, but over all their motto holds true: Children Are Our Priority!

Given that most people never know what all the issues are that someone else is dealing with, that is about as presumptuous as someone could possibly be. Whoever Sharon is should be embarrassed to have submitted that review. Here is what my 5 star rating is based on and why so many parents try to get waivers to get their kids into Lookout Mountain. If I have done one thing right in my life, it was choosing to move to Moon Valley in 1992 so my kids had the opportunity to attend Lookout Mountain!! Both of my children went to this school for K through 6th grade. Their experience was phenomenal. My wife was a former teacher who stayed home with our kids. Her experience with the teachers, the admin staff, the cross walk guards, the janitors, the volunteers and everyone associated with this school was great. Their classes, the dedication of the teachers and support staff for after school events and community functions were all great. My kids have tremendous memories and experiences all through their years at LM. I was very fortunate to get to be involved with the school in many ways and with my kids' fellow students through coaching them and seeing them daily around the community. These great kids are a reflection of their fantastic involved parents, their tremendous teachers and the people who work and volunteer at Lookout Mountain. This school is the cornerstone of the Moon Valley community and not because they have a very nice new building. It's the people that leave that building every day that make it what it is. Many of those people are volunteers who support this school like very few others. The community pride here permeates everything. I still live in the neighborhood and both of my kids have graduated from college. This school set the stage for them to get into very prestigious high schools and the universities of their choice with substantial scholarships. They both graduated at the top of their classes and are pursuing their dreams professionally. This school was the base for everything they have accomplished. I am hopeful my grand kids have an opportunity to go to Lookout Mountain. Many of our neighbors' kids go to Lookout Mountain and by all accounts its as good as it ever was. We are truly lucky to have this school in Moon Valley and I guess if I have to wait 10 minutes so one of the volunteers can get the information they might need, I will do it with a huge smile on my face.

The teachers do not care about the students, my first week there they were saying I was missing work from when I wasn't even enrolled in the school. They really are just hiring anyone, the teachers are terrible and hardly know how to teach. The students are entitled, racist, xenophobic, and frankly just bullies.... if your child is new, not rich, not white, or not somewhat pretty... they're going to be left out and looked at like they're weird. I never had issues making friends before but this school was just filled with annoying brats. Overall it's weirdly political and money hungry. DON'T send your kids here, the counselors are just as sucky and trashy too. I hope you look at this and take it to heart because I don't even know how I managed two years here, but I left with nothing new learned and terrible memories. AND YES, I made an account just for this. wish people actually looked on Yelp and saw this.
