I do not recommend this school. It is very sad to witness how much this school has declined. The middle school experience has been especially disappointing. The teachers often come across as rude and seem more focused on enforcing dress code policies than providing quality education and meaningful lessons. The school also does not reflect the Christian values and kindness it claims to promote. Everything seems centered around money, and some wealthy families appear to receive special recognition not because of their children's achievements, but because of their financial donations to the school. The classes assign an excessive amount of unnecessary homework without providing any real difference in instruction compared to standard honors classes at most high schools. The only noticeable distinctions are the heavier workload, limited opportunities for social interaction during the day, and additional fees--for example, charging $75 just to allow casual dress, despite already paying a substantial tuition. Even chapel, which should be a central part of the school's identity, only takes place once every other week. Families like mine are investing in this school expecting consistent spiritual growth, not minimal engagement. Just graduated high school (not from PVCP), and reflecting on it all. PVCP taught us EXTREMELY well. Increadible preparation for math, Bible, typing, science, and English especially. In elementary school, we took Spanish every year, and it was a very uncommonly used area of Spanish. They would say kids are less likely to go to heaven for their parents being divorced or going to a public school. There were certain teachers who were absolutely incredible, although I think out of that list most left. I do know some incredible people who became teachers there though. There is a reason there are very small classes going into high school. The dress code was also out of hand. paying $500 to wear normal clothes for a month was a little crazy too, and the fact that it was just a display of who was "rich" while the tuition was already crazy high. There was a kid who would "joke" about how he wanted to bring a weapon we all sit in fear from, and once he clarified it was a joke, they just let him come back, but I saw people get suspended for the most little reasons. Every grade also had a crazy amount of bullying, not physical or intense, but more than I have ever seen at a public school. There is so much love in this campus, but you have to be careful. The programs for the most part are increadible. The community involvement is AMAZING. For me being at the stage in life I am, I would never send a kid here after 4th grade. They learn good habits, and then deserve a life. I love the christian idea. A lot of people transferred to northwest and loved it. If your kid is a good kid, public school will not ruin that though. read more

I hate this school. First off, the teachers, staff, students, principals are mean and rude. Do not go here for middle school unless you want your kid to literary suffer. They say that they are a "Chirstian" school but they dont act very Chirstian AT ALL. They would do ungodly things and when the teachers and staff see someone bullying another kid they DONT DO ANYTHING AT ALL and when a kid steps up and defend themselves, they get in trouble and them dont even let the kid explain but when you do they still DONT listen to the kid who defended themselves and they still get in trouble the teachers also take kids money and sometimes never giving it back to them. They also have a venting machine that hasout dated snacks and drinks that made a kid sick once. read more

We've been at PVCP for three years and it has been a wonderful experience for our children. I think the administration strives to keep a high standard of rules, principles and values in place, and they are succeeding. The student body is respectable and highly academic, and we've found a great community of families and teachers at PVCP. Thankful for their sports programs. I am a exstudent of Paradise Valley Christian Prep, and I was going there since third grade, and my mom took me out half way through sophomore year. I transferred to Northwest Christian School, also known as NCS. No one is perfect except Jesus, and this school isn't close to perfect, but nor is NCS. PVCP had some problems in the higher ups, which is why I got taken out, but everyone else is great. MOST teachers are great, including Mrs, Klumpenhower, Mr Lalonde, Mrs. Hotslaw, and so much more. It is a small school so the teachers can really get to have a 1 on 1 with you, and because it's small, if you aren't shy, you can become friends with everyone in your class, even with conflicting personalities or differences. Some teachers aren't the best but from what I've heard from my great friends that still go there, is that the school is getting better than it was, and getting rid of some bad things happening there. I've wanted to do online school, but my mom is against that, so I asked her if she would send me back to PVCP and she said no, because of some other problems at NCS, I would prefer to be at PVCP, even though the academics are super strenuous and time taking. In conclusion if your kid is smart and can deal with a load of homework, but likes a smaller environment and needs one on one time with teachers, then PVCP is where I recommend. I'm giving it a three star because of the issues I had when I went there, but from what I know, I believe they have fixed them. Oh yeah, and dress code, dress code is difficult. I do not recommend PVCP as the staff has been horrible to me and my family. Mrs. Temple also known as the ex-principal she was amazing! Until Mr. Lolande and Mr. Nyhart did everything in their power to kick her out. She was so nice, whenever a child gets in trouble she listens to the child's perspective on what happened and gives them chances. Mr. Lolande is very rude to you and doesn't care what you have to say. I have been at PVCP since kindergarten and I do not recommend it. Kindergarten through 6th grade was good and okay but 7th grade was the worst. The teachers are way to strict on these 12 year old kids, and not a good strict. Like they yell at the children, I've seen multiple children crying in the office and go home crying because of how teachers treat them. Don't get me started on dress code, you can't wear skirts that are more than 3 fingers above the knee or they dress code you. They claim to only focus on Jesus and God but that's not true every teacher is just money greedy especially Mr lolande and Mr nyhart. They force you to withdraw and then pay an EXTRA 300$. All of them just care for more students at the school to earn more money. PVCP RUINED my mental health. read more

This school has been amazing for my girls. They came from a charter school and one had trouble with learning and really wasn't learning and the other had trouble with friends and both had some trouble with bullying although minor it was there. This school solved all of those problems and my girls are absolutely thriving at this school and I couldn't have asked for a better learning environment. read more

Teachers are great. School is pristine and proper. My sister is excelling in an already competitive class. She comes back from school with a smile and stories. The front desk is slightly rude, but maybe she was having a bad day the 3 different times I came. Everybody is fighting their own battles. I hope my sis continues having a great time. This review is based on how well the school prepared their past students for high school. My son just went to 8th grade there. It seemed like a majority of the kids started at a very young age and goes there through junior high. Saying this, the school has one method and one method of teaching which I would say is not good for the student. The students will struggle once they leave the school cause they only understand one method. My son was in the lowest pre-algebra class. He was struggling with the method because all the other kids grew up learning this method. The teacher Mr. Bitter even told our son that he shouldn't go into Algebra 1-2 in high school. Well he went into public high school and struggled a little but nothing a tutor couldn't help him with. He's now doing really well in Geometry. Another former student that was in the same grade as my son was in honor math. Anyways, they are now both in public school and the same Geometry class. My son is doing better than the junior high honor student. Also, another former junior high student from the school was a honor student and went to the same public high school. After two weeks of school she was failing classes and moved back to PVCP for high school. This shows that they did not prepare the kids for high school. My son is in honors Spanish 3-4 at the public school. He said that the 8th grade Spanish teacher was teaching the same thing as he is learning now in honors 3-4. This tells me the teacher doesn't know how to progress the students correctly. Don't just push them through a class but learn to teach. So overall, I feel that this school does NOT prepare the kids for high school or college correctly. It was a big mistake to send my kid there. Save your money and send them to public school. If your worried about Christian values then teach them at home. That's what parents are there for. It's not the schools responsibility to teach these values. read more

Wonderful caring community of teachers and administrators. My daughter is learning above her grade level and is making true and life long friends. We have been pleased with the ability for my daughter to get extra help if needed or to advance as needed. My children attend school here and love it. They are excited about their teachers who are highly motivated and care about the kids as individuals. The academics are excellent. I don't remember having homework at their ages but it is not an unreasonable amount. Contrary to what some reviews have stated, graduates typically go on to college on scholarship. My kids are above their grades in testing and teachers seem well able to manage different ability levels within each class. Well worth the cost and there is financial help available for those who need it. If you want a Christian based quality education you should definitely take a look. read more

What a great school! We looked at all of our options for our daughters who are just starting school. We are in the 3 Cs school district and are told that's the best for public options. Touring our public option and 3 other private choices, PVCP was the clear choice for us. I was a public school success and had my reservations about private school. Now I have none. PVCP has been great to become involved with. I'm introverted but still actually enjoy being involved. The freedom of knowledge is unbeatable, they don't have lawmakers telling them what they can and can't do. And don't think it's one sided either, when we toured the school the kids were learning about dinosaurs, yes at a Christian school. Are they teaching creationism at non-christian schools? Diversity isn't an issue either as you may expect and do see in a lot of private schools. This year 17 Brazillian exchange students joined the school, that's cool! We are now friends with parents from Iran, Nigeria, and Columbia, again cool! Watching our oldest start out here, grow, learn, and of course get much better individual attention, makes us excited to start our youngest next year and keep them there all the way through High School. One other thing, if you are worried about cost don't! Besides it being worth it, there are a lot of options to cover your child's tuition. school is almost over and last night when i went to our open house at school i realized how bless my kids are to be able to go there and what great teachers my kids have! This school is academically amazing (alex is 2 grades ahead, sara started the year struggling and now is getting a's and b's partly bc her teacher has given countless hours of her own time (free of charge) after school to work with her, & trey actually likes school!) This school doesn't just use the title "christian school" this school is just as serious about academics as growing the kids in their relationship with the Lord. I truly think this is a treasure and i would love to share the experience with all my friends. If you are thinking about a change for next year, go visit before schools out, you have to see the kids there with the teachers to experience God's presence in this school!! With 3 kids in this school all with different academic abilities and personalities this school has been a great fit for all of them. Academically kids are pushed. If your child needs extra help a tutor will meet with them, also teachers have homework help times after school to work with kids. If your chid is gifted they will be placed in honors classes and be expected to perform! I have kids at both extremes and know this first hand. My only downfall with this school is that after school programs are limited in the early grades. However, the school is always open to suggestions and if parents have a desire to start something I know from experience the school makes the time and the space. I feel like at this school a lot of the kids go to club sports, private lessons, etc so the school has tried but many of these kids are already spread thin after school. We have been there for several years and I know from reviewing the national testing that my kids do every year that all 3 kids are at or way above grade level (even my child that struggles.) Your child will be pushed but PVCC believes in their students and they will provide the means to build confidence in the kids and to help them be successful and to grow in their abilities so the kids can stand on their own to be successful in later academic endeavors. read more

Both of our sons went to PVCP since 1st grade. We found the teachers to be excellent. Our oldest son had a small class and was very well prepared for High School. Our youngest has some Mild ADD and a little different learning style. While not all of the teachers were able to accommodate him most were more than willing to give him extra time and help with assignments. This school isn't for everyone, it is like a small town community, which we loved. read more

My kids have been attending PVCP since 2nd grade and preschool. They are now 7th grade and 4th grade. When we transferred them in from a local Catholic school, my 2nd grader was behind the rest of the class in math and reading. I cannot say enough about how great 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Corbin, helped him with her strict but encouraging way that brought him up to speed and beyond by the second half of the year. She never made him feel badly for being behind, and she never made us worrying parents feel like there was any problem. He became the reader he is today, and the advanced math student he is enjoying as a middle schooler. Our 4th grader has had the past 5 years in a positive, encouraging, academically challenging atmosphere. If you have a kid who is going to fall in the middle of the pack academically, better to send him to a school like PVCP where the "middle" is set at a standard above any public school, and strives to help each kid reach his greatness. read more

We are from out of state and looked at many other private Christian school options for our girls. There was no comparison. The first week I dropped my kids off I was scared to death, new city, new school...but someone met me every day and let me know they looked in on my kids and how they were doing. The office staff knows my kids names, they know what kind of day they are having, they know our family. I am not only confident that my children are safe when I leave them but they are also LOVED!!! The teachers are wonderful, loving and supportive. I have not had a complaint with ANY of them. Not only that but my kids are getting the highest level education that I could ask for. Small class sizes, ability to move up when needed, ability to move down if needed. My kids love it and have never looked back. It is worth your time to drop by and take a look!!!
