Kajiken Staten Island brings a different style of Japanese noodle experience to the area by focusing on abura soba, a dry mixed noodle dish that is different from the traditional ramen most people are familiar with. We walked into a casual ramen shop atmosphere with a menu that included both traditional ramen options and specialty dishes. The space felt fresh and clean, and the staff put effort into helping guests understand the menu and what makes the concept unique, making the experience more approachable for first-time visitors. The main highlight is the abura soba, especially for anyone looking to try something beyond a standard bowl of ramen. We ordered a few options and found the noodles mixed with a flavorful sauce that coated each strand, creating a much stronger overall taste than a typical soup-based dish. The Original abura soba was a good introduction to the style because it showed how the combination of noodles, sauce, and toppings creates a completely different experience from ramen. The vegan nikumiso option also added variety with a flavorful soy-based topping that held its own against the richer meat versions. The ramen options were also worth trying, especially for those who prefer a more familiar style. The tonkotsu ramen offered a richer broth-based option, while dishes like chicken curry ramen provided another variation. The menu had a nice balance between classic comfort food and the restaurant's specialty dry noodles, making it easier for different preferences to find something they enjoyed. The service was one of the stronger parts of our visit. The staff were helpful in explaining the menu and guiding first-time guests toward the dishes they are known for. Since this location is newer, service may still be adjusting during busy periods, but the team was friendly and attentive throughout the experience. They moved through orders with efficiency, and the food came out hot and well assembled. Overall, Kajiken Staten Island is a welcome addition for anyone looking for a different take on Japanese noodles. The abura soba is the reason to visit because it offers a more intense and unique flavor compared to traditional ramen. With helpful service and a menu that goes beyond standard ramen options, it is a spot we would return to when craving something different.

Came here for lunch with my family. We ordered a bunch of different appetizers and noodles to try. The staff was friendly and considerate. Constantly checking in on us. The food was okay. Nothing amazing, just standard. The tonkatsu broth was very bland. Portions were on the small side. We enjoyed the meal and would go back if we were in the neighborhood.

The noodles were average and the portion size was quite small. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. I felt like I was being rushed out as soon as I finished eating. While I was paying , the waiter stood there staring at me and simply said, "Sign here." I still left an 18% tip, even though the service did not reflect that level of gratuity. My suggestion for the future is to give customers some privacy when they are deciding on the tip. Standing over them and watching them while they tip feels uncomfortable and can come across as offensive.

I went here for the first time sometime last week. Dining experience was definitely top tier. Me and my boyfriend tried the curry Abura Soba and their gyozas. The gyozas were okay, Naruto Ramen makes better ones in my opinion. The Abura Soba was amazing. It was nice to try something new other than the traditional ramen. However, today I didn't have time to sit down and ordered to go, which is why I'm giving 4 stars. I'd give 3 but the dinning experience was very good so I won't. I'm just probably never ordering To Go from them again. They BARELY gave any curry sauce for the noodles, they gave like half the container shown below, probably less than half to be honest. Even after mixing the sauce with the noodles, my noodles were still very dry. I was so disappointed I didn't even have time to take a picture. To spend $42 and they're being cheap with the curry sauce which is the main part of the Abura Soba seeing that there is no broth included is a bit ridiculous in my opinion. That whole container should've been filled covered in curry sauce to coat all of the noodles, not half.. We ended up having to add water to our noodles so they weren't so dry, which at that point I could've just made ramen at home to be honest. But anyway, now we've learned to just dine in and not order to go.
