However, there was a misunderstanding. I had severe headaches & dizziness, & both doctors suggested I get an MRI. I asked how to do this, bc I was new to Lane County, & both told me to go to ER to do so. And, I did. I thought I did the correct thing, but obviously, I made a big error. Hospital found a meningioma behind the right occipital lobe in my brain, with very slight brain bleed. It scared me. When I returned in a few days after the diagnosis, both Allergist & Primary Care fired me as a patient. I'd gone to see my Allergist, Kraig, & he was having issues w/home health w/his wife who was suffering from MS. He wasn't in a pleasant mood, & neither was his assistant, who made my visit a very sour one, as she was belligerent/ (this was around 2010). To this day, I don't understand what I did or didn't do. I felt so sad, bc I really liked my care @ Oak St. Medical! Above all, I loved both my doctors. I'd recommend them both to anyone, even though I was asked not to come back after my diagnosis.

I called three times to schedule an appointment with the Ear, Nose and Throat clinic at PeaceHealth…read moreMedical Group, University District. This appointment was on behalf of my elderly father. Twice, I called during business hours and had to leave a message (no live person answered the phone). Once, I called just after business hours, spoke with the answering service, and left a message. The result all three times: crickets. Not one call back. On my first attempt to call a crosstown competitor, I received a friendly voice who booked my father into the next available appointment and gave me complete instructions on what to expect during his visit. I had also tried to book my dad with a PHMG primary care provider several months ago. That also took three calls, but I was successful on the third attempt. PeaceHealth has long rested on its laurels as the biggest fish in the pond, and as a result, their customer service has steadily declined over the years. They should be waking up soon to find their competition, big and small, far ahead and leaving them in the dust.

Well, as a former employee myself, I never expected to become a patient, especially not an ICU Heart patient. It has been so long since I retired that nobody there knew me except for one nurse. I was very grateful for the level of professionalism I was accorded and the timeliness of everyone involved. Having a Triple Bypass is no picnic. However, the staff continued to assure me all along the way. All accommodations were made for my needs and that of the Mrs. Staff were exceedingly polite and very patient with us as we navigated this 'other side of the coin'. Everyone from Registration all the way to the CNA that wheelchaired me to the exit door were very nice. It is amazing how differently people come across when your life is in their hands. I am exceedingly grateful and appreciative of all the staff and care I received while I was there. Now I am home and completing recovery from my successful surgery. I feel great and look forward gratefully to the next few decades this surgery has provided me.

I had been experiencing increased stress due to upcoming lay-off, as well as two weeks of increased abdominal pain and cramping down my right calf. As forthcoming as I was, Jeffery Salerno and Rachel Straub decided to place me on involuntary hold. The criteria for an NMI is: severe mental illness and immediate danger to self and others or unable to provide for basic needs. This criteria never applied to my circumstances and led to an emotionally damaging experience at the BHU. Further, Providers listed refused medical intervention, which would have been an abdominal CT scan, requested by myself, the patient.
