I tried to hire Bryan for my 18 years old son. He asked to speak to me right away. He wanted to ask my son what has been bothering him. I of course assumed he is setting up 15 min free consultation as they advertised on online. But my son has decided that he wanted to hire woman therapist instead. So he canceled Bryan's appointment. Then he asked me to pay for $120 cancelation fee. According to him he has mentioned to my 18 years old son it was " real appointment " I was the one who was hiring him not my son. I would of appreciate it if he would made an appointment through me. After all my son has a reason why he needs a therapy. I will not recommend at all. They don't care about you. They just want your money. He didn't perform any service. He must be desperate for money to charge depressed 18 years old And his response was he notified me by email... he notified my 18 years old by email. I had no idea what was going on whole time. As I mentioned earlier he is the one who is seeking help. I'm experienced client in this field. I have had many therapist and psychiatrist for my kids. But they all know they have to include parents in scheduling or anything for that matter. I'm the one who is paying the bill. I just never had any experience like this with any other counseling office in my 15 years of experience. He became almost aggressive about getting paid I just can't imagine how the person like that can help you to have peaceful mind. If anything it must be all act!! My boyfriend and I went to see Bryan as we were navigating rapid change in our lives - moving across the country, having our first child, etc. We wanted to make sure we were building the right new relationship infrastructure to navigate these changes and maintain a healthy relationship. This sounded like exactly what we were looking for. We worked with Bryan over the course of 3 months and learned his systems. These systems / processes / ways of engaging helped us identify root causes of friction in our relationship and helped us to develop rules of engagement that would reduce/eliminate that friction in the future. To anyone who is considering Bryan, know that Bryan's systems are logical and effective if you commit to adopting them. If there is any thought in your mind that you are in an abusive relationship, stay away from this provider. He is not trained to identify abusers, or perhaps he doesn't care to identify them. In my case, he enabled and goaded my spouse into escalating the violence against me, going so far as to write legal declarations in court vouching for my abusive spouse's good character even after he was arrested and charges were pressed against him. (For the record, the charges held up in court). This is would be professional ethics violation, IF Bryan Staab was actually a member of any professional organization. Anyone can hang up a shingle and claim to be a relationship "coach." Maybe he's fine for relatively innocuous relationship conflicts. But for more serious problems, look for someone with more substantial training. I hope this provider gets the professional development he needs to do better, because he compromised my and my children's safety with his cavalier attitude towards male privilege and entitlement, and even when there were red flags and warning signs and OVERT VIOLENCE AND POLICE CHARGES, he continued to make excuses. read more

Where do I begin? I tried counseling once at about age 13 and didn't go back for a second appointment. I felt so much judgement and misunderstood. Went to couples counseling for almost 8 months. The whole experience was one sided from the start. Ended in a divorce

I don't usually write reviews but in this case, I felt compelled to write about my horrendous experience with Bryan. I reached out to Bryan because of his great reviews. I thought his pay in advance policy for 4 sessions was unusual and the amount excessive (and even more excessive for someone without a license in counseling as we found out later) but my husband and I decided we needed help so we took the plunge and called Bryan. When I had my free initial 15 minute session with Bryan over the phone, I briefly explained to him what was happening and he said that I was being emotionally abused. I asked if he could help us and he suggested that we go to one session and decide whether to sign up for the 4 sessions. We went to that session we basically introduced ourselves and told him why we were there. He said he had a plan that would help us so we decided to sign up for the 4 sessions. Bryan sent a message on how to sign up for the 4 once a week sessions and believe it or not, he gave a 4 day deadline to sign up and pay for all 4 sessions. In one of the sessions, he proceeded to verbally attack me. After the session, I talked with a licensed counselor about my experience and she said that it takes years of counseling education to know how to counsel and this is exactly what counselors are taught NOT to do. When I signed up for the 4 sessions, I understood that it was non-refundable but the experience was unexpected, so hurtful and unprofessional that I asked for the last unused sessions (which I canceled well in advance) to be refunded but did not get a response. We paid him $1,500.00. Bryan has a degree in Business. I should have read the other 1 star review. I don't want others to make the same mistake that we made. read more

I first started working with Bryan in the fall of 2020 (and continuing this process with him currently). My wife and I were struggling in our relationship and covid compounded the affects of our problems. It would be an understatement to say things were falling apart. We were already in the process of getting a divorce. We started our couple's counseling with Bryan as a last-ditch effort to see if we could salvage our marriage. If I'm honest, I believed the relationship was over and while I hoped otherwise, I didn't see how we could change our current course. Prior to this experience, I had my fair share of skepticism for therapy. Full transparency, at times I can be that stereotypical guy that doesn't like discussing my feelings, sharing emotions, being vulnerable, etc. It has been no easy feat to break these barriers. Bryan has been immensely helpful in overcoming these challenges and I always leave a session with new insights on how to improve further. I read a review discounting Bryan's process/approach because he isn't licensed. While I appreciate the perspective of others, I disagree with these remarks. I don't believe they should carry weight when deciding your personal journey and growth. I've been to "licensed professionals" where I felt our time together was meaningless. In some cases, I felt like a time slot on a clock and a paycheck to be collected. I've never felt this way with Bryan since starting back in 2020. I feel like he's genuinely interested in our journey (individually and as a couple). Bryan is patient and intuitive. He's always been an objective listener and gives non-biased & balanced feedback. Additionally, I feel like he provides great perspective (as it relates to my wife's point of view), while keeping a neutral stance. I'm appreciative of that. He's provided many helpful technique/tools for communication and these methods have helped considerably. My time with Bryan has been personally impactful and I'm grateful. I've experienced a ton of growth and gained meaningful value during our sessions together. My relationship with my wife has improved significantly during this time. Although, the status of our marriage/divorce is still undetermined, there's no denying the progress we've made thus far. I don't assign merit to Bryan, based on the status of our marriage. I'm not attached to the outcome; I'm focused on the growth. He serves as a guide for our journey, but we're accountable for our own path. I speak highly of him, because of his commitment to us and for the support he provides during this process. Bryan is an amazing guy, let me tell you. My wife and I came to see him towards the end of April and during that time we weren't in a good place together. Bryan was one of the best options and steps we took in making my relationship stronger and better as well as myself. Things were rocky and a point and it was either be done and quit or choose to get help and understand how to make my relationship improve. Bryan worked with my husband and I for about two months, with in person and remote meetings once a week. My partner and I been together for a decade at this point and have had several re-occuring fights, some of them having started more recently with relatively new changes in our lives, and some of them going back to when we first started dating. Bryan was the first couples counselor we've ever worked with and we both had a lot of nerves about the process. Bryan has a clear process and structure that he works through, and it feels logical, well thought out, and tested. I've been working with Bryan Staab for couple's counseling and individual counseling for over a few months now. Bryan has brought a significant impact to my relationship and to my mental health in just a short amount of time.
