Loved the momos and the sauce. Could've been spicier, weird to find sweet corn in the noodles.

High quality Japanese food in a nice environment. I came for weekday lunch and got the premium set…read moremenu (48 GBP). The first course was some spinach leaves in a sweet sauce and it was actually better than expected. It then came with 3 pieces of sashimi which I could tell were very fresh and melted in my mouth. There was also a tiny container of tuna tartare. Lastly, for my choice of protein, I went with the black cod, which was a nice soft consistency and cooked well. The sauce on the side also added some nice sweet flavor to complement the fish. While the food was good, I do feel that 48 GBP is slightly on the high side considering the small portion sizes. The interior of the restaurant has some elegant and classy decor. That's probably why so many people come for business lunches here (plus the location). The staff are average friendliness, although the service speed was kind of slow. It was also weird that they for some reason couldn't find our reservation in their system but we were still able to get a table nonetheless. Overall, I think ROKA is a very choice choice if you are looking for a fancier Japanese meal than your typical sushi restaurant.

Below average taste but expensive pan Asian faire. Mostly you're paying for a vibe here because the…read morefood itself isn't good and definitely not authentic. Roka is basically a typical faux luxury establishment of the type that has been popularized over the years in areas of low culture and/or regions where a particular cusine doesn't really exist. You know the type: pictures of beautiful people and food, tasteful font for the establishment, and a quick look at the about section of the restaurant reveals it's place as part of group founded by a bunch of executives; it's not so much a restaurant as it is an exercise in corporate branding. When you visit, you'll notice that the clientel reflects that branding design as well. Everyone here looks like they're part of a vertical strategy that includes the workers at the firm itself, the final spot on a flow chart diagram where the staff themsleves are the primary customer for the product and then a line arches back to the beginning of the flow to further inform strategic planning for more pan something restaurants. The name of this group could be called Ouroboros but that might be a little on the nose. Most izakayas on Planet Earth have better food that what you'll get here and for far less money. This said, you won't get to enjoy a space filled with the finance crowd who are all tastefully lit to ensure their Instagram selfies look good enough for them to tag themselves with the establishment. Service is slow and aloof. Skip it.

I've been meaning to go to a Szechuan restaurant since I visited one in China and was blown away by…read morehow delicious it was, strange that it took a few years. So I was quite excited to come here on the off-chance. Even more excited when I saw how "authentic" (to my eyes) the menu looked. Fragrant intestine, (Pig Blood) on the menu: no mucking about. We ordered three dishes between two: stir fried cabbage, king prawns with chilli and szechuan sauce and some kind of tofu dish that was also swimming in a world of chilli. When it came it was clear that we had overdone it with the quantities, the portions were generous. Everything was hot but not too hot, and everything was fresh and very tasty. The king prawn dish in particular was fantastic, just what I was hoping for. For £40 including some non-alcoholic drinks, we got a second meal from the leftovers. The service was pretty friendly and quick too. We'll be here again next time we go to the cinema I think, but then competition nearby is Pizza Hut and Presto.

Strange that I haven't written any reviews of this place. Well, if you are around the area and…read morewondering whether you want to come here, let me give you a few tips. This place used to be super super popular for steamboat/hot pot because they have a buffet menu for that. They also have some karaoke rooms upstairs although I have never been inside and have no idea how new the songs are and the environment in general. I have been here for the food 3 times over as many years and I think for my latest visit the quality of the food has gone downhill. Now, the draw of Sichuan food is the chilli. Expect to eat really spicy food here and beware if you have a sensitive stomach. The only reason I come here is to eat frog's legs. My first two visits they were so fresh, so tasty that I had a good impression of this place. However, this latest visit we had a bit of a disagreement with the manager/chef as we thought the eel that we ordered tasted a bit off. The chef was a bit indignant and came out to speak to us insisting that the fish is ordered fresh in every day. To be honest, we were not about to argue with this because we wanted to get out of the restaurant with arms and legs intact. However, when 3 people at the same table thought the food was a bit off, and yes we have ordered this dish before from this restaurant, you might have thought that maybe give us the benefit of the doubt. However, they let us change the dish and we ordered something else. We continued the rest of the meal although I felt a bit subdued and my stomach was giving me queasy feelings that I don't think I will come back for a long time, if ever. There probably was a good reason why this particular restaurant only has a few tables occupied for the lunch hour, when you compare this place to Seikai down the road, which is always packed with people wanting Chinese dim sum/food in general. Conclusion: try this place if you are feeling brave.

It then got delayed a further 30 mins by the restaurant and still had not reached me so I called up to enquire about my delivery and got told it would be an additional 10 mins. I understand sometimes delays occur due to unforeseen and uncontrollable circumstances but it took a total of 2hrs and 8mins for it to reach me after my order was placed and I was given rubbish customer service from the staff. The person on the phone lied to me about the delivery time and could not keep me updated on the location of my delivery which I think is unfair and unreasonable. When the delivery driver finally arrived he didn't even give me an apology and instead tried arguing with me and caused a scene in front of others as well as calling me a liar claiming I didn't order when I said I did. Luckily, a helpful member from just eat was on the phone to me at the time and heard the whole conversation and rectified the problem for me so a big thumbs up to Alex from just eat. When the food arrived, my naan breads were cold and hard; the biryani tasted like plain pilau rice with a few bits of chicken; my chicken, lamb and prawn curries tasted like they all shared the same masala and was buried in tomato purée. So in conclusion, the service, the food and the delivery all deserve half a star. Save yourself the trouble please.

With that said, they weren't deceptive about the pricing or anything, I just probably would have waited to go if I had known ahead of time. It's not as big as I was expecting, but it does have just as big of a selection (idk why I was expecting things to be more spread out). Not everything I tried was GREAT, but everything I tried was a bare minimum of edible, which can't be said about every buffet so gotta give them credit for that. I thought the duck pancakes were actually pretty yummy and I also really liked the pasta. Other items, like the pizza and fajitas, were a miss, but again, they weren't awful. Dessert selection was disappointing considering the extent of the rest of the buffet - mainly tiny cakes and an ice cream machine. The gulab jamun was tasty though. Despite the higher-than-expected price, I was actually pretty impressed with the food and would go back for lunch again.
