We came here around 7:30 on a weekday night. The restaurant was empty. We were a little surprised. We got Happy Mango Roll, Tokyo Sandwich Roll, Tako Gunkan, and some that I forgot the name of it. They don't have a lot of variety on the conveyor belt. We were not sure if everything was freshly made since there was no one there. They have rolls that were not on the conveyor belt so we had to order it. Most of the rolls were ok not very good and not real bad. Some sushi tasted like they were on the belt for awhile. The only good ones were the one that we ordered. The staff was attentive and nice. She kept coming back making sure we don't need to order any rolls that were not on the belt. The restaurant itself is cute and clean. I don't think I will go back to try again. I feel like there are better option conveyor belt sushi around the area.

I discovered this place on yelp. Cute place! I was afraid with this concept that I would overeat or pay too much. However, there were plenty of options at various price points. Some of the specialty rolls didn't come around during our visit. Quality of rolls were ok. They do have a small menu if sushi isn't your thing. They also have a decent dessert and saki menu. (No cocktails)

This is a one and done for me for Kai Sushi. Definitely not 5 star quality. The quality here has more misses than hits. The black plates and the special orders are why I'm giving them one more star. I would not recommend getting any of the fried stuff like tempura and crab rangoon, they've been sitting out too long. The yellow plates are decent. Red and orange are like eh, you can tell they're not fresh. Service was good. The place was mostly empty when we came for dinner. Prices are expensive for the mediocre quality you receive. You're honestly better off going to Kitakata Ramen next door. You'll save money and also get better food. However, if you are in the mood for conveyor belt sushi, I recommend making the trip to Chicago to go to Sushi Plus Rotary in Chinatown, not the Aurora one.

Convenient and fast. Definitely try the fiesta roll. Friendly staff, quiet atmosphere. If you come dinner time on the weekend, options may be slim but you can utilize the made to order option and it guarantees freshness.

I was on the fence with three vs four stars. The novelty of conveyor belt sushi pushed me up to 4 stars. All of the 'good' pieces of sushi that you want are probably the most expensive ones :-) But I had decent service and the ambiance was nice. And I do love the format of conveyor belt sushi. I tried a number of different plates. The way it works is; you grab whatever you want from the conveyor belt as it goes around. The color of the plate indicates how much it costs. When you're done, the waitstaff collects your empty plates and charges you based on what color the plates were.

I used to frequent this sushi restaurant when I worked nearby. It's been a while since I've been back and was looking forward to dining here for dinner. Tonight was a HUGE disappointment and I will NEVER come back. I was surprised that there was very limited Maki rolls on the conveyer belt on a Saturday evening at 7:30pm. The server told us to write down any rolls we wanted that were not on the belt. We waited over 20 min for our rolls to come out. Also we ordered these mussels that took forever to come out and when they did it was a full order which we said we wanted whatever portion they come on the belt which was 3 pieces. We were served an entire order of 6. I told the server no big deal we will keep it. The owner came over to rectify the situation and she told me just take 3 mussels off the plate and she took the other 3 mussels away. It was so shocking to see this when most establishments would say it's ok we will take it off the bill. To see her take the plate away was embarrassing to be honest. Also the Maki rolls were terrible. The seaweed wrapper was so chewy and rubbery in texture. It tasted off and the rice was so mushy. I spent over $80 for terrible food and service. This used to be a place that I gave 5 stars but today if I could give zero stars I would.

Veggie sushi lovers unite! I have visited here twice now and love the sushi! Although it is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, they still offer a menu with additional choices - including a "veggie lovers" section of sushi maki rolls! I've tried the avocado, sweet potato, and spicy garden crunch and likes them all! I really appreciate the uniqueness of the spicy garden crunch, but also take caution that the fresh jalapeños can be quite spicy! This place gets busy, but the service is still good. My husband orders off the menu (udon stir-fry noodles) and our bill is reasonable, but I wouldn't say it's cheap. It's priced just right! Will definitely be back many times!

Haven't had sushi in awhile and this spot did not disappoint. Walked in and got seated right away, it was around 6:30. Waiter starts off with drinks and then you can choose to order off the menu if you'd like and you can also grab sushi and other goods from the conveyor belt. We did both, a little bit of everything. It goes by plates and the sushi you grab you get charged by plate, the different types are shown in a picture at the restaurant. I included some sushi we had grabbed obviously didn't take pictures of all of them but they were pretty good. Got some appetizers as well, we got lucky because they were still hot. Got some dessert as well, crème brûlée which I don't know why I thought it would be a good idea but I have it a shot. 5/10, not the best. Sushi we ordered was spicy shrimp tempura and shogun roll, because they were running out on the belt. $5 for 5 prices when we ordered. Not too bad, our bill came out to $45 which I don't think was bad considering how much we got to try either having plates of sushi of 3 or 4 pieces so it adds up. 4/5 stars only because I wish the cooks were putting out more variety on the conveyor belt. As in, many plates that showed what roll what supposed to be next to it was empty for a couple rounds it went around and we never got to try. Other than that I recommend, great for group outings! Waiter was friendly as well as staff!

Wow...I ordered spicy Ramen. I can handle spicy, but HOLY FIREBALL!!!!! I started eating and after a few spoonfuls something hit the back of my throat ! It felt like the gates of Hell opening into my throat!!! It put me into coughing fits which sent tears down my face...I thought I couldnt breathe for a minute. When the waitress finally came to see if I was okay I told her to wrap the rest to-go. The one plate of sushi I had before the ramen came was ok, but my throat won't recover for a while.

Conveyor belt sushi is a fun way to see what you're getting before grabbing a plate, and it's also nice to have the option to order directly from the screen at your table. I went to Kura in Japan over the summer, so I was really curious how the U.S. locations would compare. I honestly enjoyed the one in the States more. It's not fancy sushi, but it always hits the spot. I love that when you order nigiri from the screen, you can choose between regular rice or less rice. It's a great option if you don't want to fill up too quickly on rice. One thing to keep in mind with conveyor belt sushi is that you're charged per plate, and it adds up fast. Most plates are $3.85 and usually come with two pieces. If you're a big eater, I'd recommend an AYCE sushi spot instead. I'd also suggest going with an even number of people since many items come with two pieces per plate. On our most recent visit, my boyfriend and I ordered various nigiri plates, along with a bowl of shrimp tempura udon and their warabimochi dessert. Our favorite is always the garlic ponzu salmon, but the ones with yuzu jalapenos are so good, too! We ended up eating a total of 18 plates/items. With drinks, our meal came out to a little over $100. We weren't overly stuffed, but we felt content. After you insert 15 empty plates, you get a mini prize dispensed from a machine, which is a little something to look forward to. We got a small hand-roll acrylic charm on our recent visit!

It's quiet and best to go with groups between 2-6 people if you care to sit together.

One day, finding myself in the area of the Boystown location and not wanting something heavy or large, I decided to stop in. Just like the Chinatown location, this one also DELIVERS. My apologies if any information seems redundant. The quality and variety of the food are excellent! There is something here for everyone, from basic items to more creative options. While there are some things I don't get due to personal taste, I don't believe I had a single bad dish here. Next, I feel that the prices were reasonable for what was received. While some items are more expensive than others, we live in a world where the dollar store is now the "dollar-25 store." So, no issues there... plus, some cheaper places just load cheap crab sticks into everything, which is definitely not the case here. When it comes to the concept, I love the idea and how it is executed. Dishes roam around on the conveyor belt, and you can order anything you want directly from the iPad. Such orders arrive on the upper rail (road?) in under five minutes! There's also a button to call a server, who shows up within a minute. While the focus is clearly the conveyor belt, there is some pleasant, fun, and appropriate decor. Finally, I love that there's a long table specifically for pairs or individuals. This allows for much more efficient use of space when one person isn't taking up a table that could otherwise seat four. Especially since their space seems smaller than that of Chinatown, this indicates intelligent design (always a fan!). Thus, perhaps I shall soon become a regular here too. It all depends on what part of town I'm in when a sushi craving sets in!

They unfortunately don't do reservations for a group as small as 2 people; but for a bigger group, call ahead. The inside had an elegant aesthetic with four rotary lines all connected to the back kitchen area. One is sat at a table with an ipad to view the menu, ingredients in each item, and lists out beverages you can order. The table comes with chopsticks and soy sauce but one can call the attendant for utensils, water, or your check. It's $3.69 for every plate grabbed from the rotary. Once you finish the plate, you discard it into the table slot. The ipad tracks your plate count and for every 10 finished, you get a gachapon toy from the machine above the central rotary track. If you like wasabi or ginger, no worries as these are constantly in rotation to grab. Our favorites of the evening were the vegetable rolls, crab rangoon, tempura sweet potato roll, and the different nigiri's (umami beef, spicy kani, seared scallop, etc). If you don't see a roll on the rotary you wanted, check the ipad as you may be able to order for no upcharge. The nice robot on the top track will bring your dish right out to the table! If you're looking for a fun way to try new sushi rolls or give kids an interactive sushi experience, this is the spot to go! Tip: They have a punch card for every $25 spent. Once you hit 10 punches, you can spin the wheel for a discount. Pro Tip: While we got there early to avoid a wait, the more crowded the restaurant got... the better the rotary selections we saw.

Neat to try, good sushi, lots of gimmicks…read more In Illinois for a random trek. Decided to try a different style of rotary sushi place to see how it compares. Place is on the end of a shopping plaza. Not much to see but it looked clean and inviting. Staff was kind and explained the process. This place functions like I would expect. Each plate is a set price, you pick what you want and feed the plate into a chute on the side for your tally. If you don't find something on the conveyor belt, then you get a tablet and put it in to be shuttle delivered to your table. It's very cool to watch and be a part of. So that aspect was fun. The sushi was okay but heavily Americanized. Lots of heavily sauced and beef options. No seasoning of the rice, Tamago had torched spicy mayonnaise on top but was cold, some rolls were composed well but others were kind of bland. We did have a volcano roll that was not great. Still had to pay for the plate, which was not fun. Thankfully not much got wasted. A rotary sushi place is a gimmick in of itself. It's a good operating model, but it's a rarity in the states so there is that appeal to try something new. Then there's the plate game, if you feed ten plates into the chute you get a capsule prize. Then you get a frequent diner card that if you pay 25 dollars you get a stamp and if you get 10 stamps you get to spin the prize wheel. I appreciate game systems, but this place skirts that edge of too many. As a restaurant, it's neat to try and not too bad on price for decent sushi. There's a lot going on, but if you focus on the food then it's a nice place to have a bite.
