Hi, I dont usually leave bad reviews but I do want to save people time, money and a headache. The staff at this office are really nice and accommodating but the dr himself made my Invisalign experience horrible.
From the beginning he asked for one of my wisdom teeth to be pulled out before getting started, I went to a specialist and did that. Then a few days later dr Kai reviews my xrays and says I need another tooth pulled. After I had gone to a specialist already he said this, so instead of going in once to get both done I had to figure out what to do next. That meant going under, missing work and school, finding a ride, I mean it's a bit of a hassle but worth it, I just had to do it twice when he could have easily told me to to two from the beginning. Luckily my amazing dentist was able to pull the later requested tooth. Finally it was time to start the actual process. I went thinking I would have an expert helping me but it was quite the contrary. I received hardly no information or options about treatments. When I asked questions I was yelled at, blamed and criticized. I started one set of aligners and only made it to tray 17 out of 57. On the 17 tray my teeth were just not fitting so we back tracked two trays and still nothing. I kept getting told it was because I wasn't wearing the aligners long enough which was not true. I wouldn't be paying all that money and dealing with a rude dr to not wear the damn things!
There were times when the dr would drop his tool in my mouth while it was on or scratch my gums. I had a cut in the inside of my cheek from his carelessness as well. Yes he apologized but he also still blamed me. I'm not an orthodontist or dentist that's why I went to him! Dr kai also made odd comments that made me uncomfortable, I talked to his old staff about it and she reassured me it wouldn't happen again. A few weeks later she was no longer working there, I lost further sense of comfort. So unfortunately I stuck it out and 2 years in I got another set of trays, of which I made it to 4 out of 57 before they didn't fit again. It took about 2 hours for me to get a mold of my teeth done for the second time, 2 hours! It was just too much. After speaking to my dentist who told me about other options (like using braces on top or using a device that vibrates to stimulate blood flow and movement) I went back to Dr.Kai to simply talk about options and solutions, again he only blamed me for the issues. I was paying for his help and experience in this matter and always ended up leaving disappointed. I wanted to take my grad school pictures with a nice smile but now I can't. Please do not go to this office. This is specifically for the 250 Montclair Location. read more
