February '26 I requested French tip with an off white/pinkish gel color that I provided (photo attached). When I told the service provider what I wanted, she said "no it doesn't look good; do white" to which I told her I like the tip color. March '26, I requested THE SAME THING from THE SAME WOMAN and she refused. She had another worker tell me. "She doesn't want to use your color because it's too sheer and she would have to do two coats". I wanted what I wanted CAUSE IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY, but I didn't go back and forth and just told her no French tip. My acrylic was laid very THICK and I didn't bother like my nails overall. (Attached photo) After my service, I paid and tipped my pedicure service provider because she actually did what I wanted and did not tip the manicure provider because she REFUSED to do what I asked. Called last minute and got a chair for mani/pedi for my wife and a pedi for myself. Great attitude from the attendant and welcoming. We were greeted right away, given a chair, then given an option for a drink (mimosa, champagne, red wine, or white wine). The salon is clean and inviting. The options for pedicure range from basic and affordable to detailed with upgraded prices (see my picture of the menu for examples). I opted for the Golden Mystique Pedicure. It was AMAZING!!! Kai Nails is located in a shopping center in the Sports Arena area of Point Loma, so there is plenty of parking. Even though I had an appointment, when I got there, it didn't look like anyone was available. There was no one greeting customers as you walk in and the staff wasn't welcoming or helpful. I waited a few minutes and then I asked how long it would be and they said they could start on my pedicure, but that I'd have to wait for my gel manicure. That was a little disappointing because I had a busy day & I specifically called to make an appointment at a set time so that I wouldn't have to wait, but not the end of the world. As my pedicure was underway, two other customers came in & I worried that the next available person would take them instead. To my surprise, they kept their word and they started my mani when someone became available. Their selection in terms of polish was not great for the regular polish. No one helped me with the colors for the gel. I didn't know where they were and had to pick from a few that were remaining on the front desk. There was no one to ask for help as they were all with customers. I found the nail salon itself to be pretty. I like the white decor. For the reasons mentioned, I'll go elsewhere next time. read more

I came in on a Sunday evening around 5:30pm; everywhere online said they closed at 7pm, but when I arrived the person at the front told me they close at 5pm on Sundays. They were accommodating and accepted my walk-in pedicure anyways. The pedicure came with a complimentary drink and all of the staff was very professional. Even though I was the last one because I showed up so late, the gentleman doing my pedicure was precise and did not rush despite being there after close. I definitely do not recommend this place. I've been here a few times and they always have a bad attitude. Today I got a simple manicure with no nail polish. They left my nails dirty inside the nail beds. I had to ask them after she said she was done to clean them out. My nails are also all different lengths! They also do not buff the ridges in the nails at all. They wanted to charge me six dollars extra. All I wanted was a slight buffing to make the nail look even. They left my nails looking scratchy. They didn't have to paint my nails so the very least they could do is leave them clean and smooth, but they couldn't even do that. I will not be going back here. read more

My experience at this salon was utterly disappointing from the moment I walked in. The man at the front, who I believe is the owner, wasn't very friendly or welcoming. I came in for the first time, requesting a full set of pink and white nails ($75) and a gel pedicure ($46) While the young lady who did my pedicure was nice enough, the woman named Lina who did my full set started off friendly but quickly became rude. She seemed visibly annoyed whenever I asked her to make adjustments. To make matters worse, neither of the two women spoke any English, which made it extremely difficult to communicate what I wanted. I understand that language barriers can exist, but it added to the frustration when I needed to convey my requests. Lina also hurt me multiple times during the process--almost cutting my thumb with the scissors, which has NEVER happened to me in over a decade of getting my nails done. My nails look terrible; the white is inconsistent, and I left feeling frustrated and unhappy with the result. After paying $75, I expected a quality service, but instead, I walked out dissatisfied. Additionally, they didn't even help me put on my tennis shoes when I was done, especially since I had one nail painted without gel or acrylic to allow it to heal after I ripped it off. By the end of the appointment, I tipped Lina $5.00, and the other woman 20%, however Lina looked surprised. I'm usually a 20-30% tipper, but after that service, she was lucky I gave her anything. I will never return to this salon, and I cannot recommend it to anyone seeking a professional or quality experience. read more

I got a full set French and a pedicure for $113 and wish I could have my money back being I had to get my nails completely re done somewhere else after 2 days. Cons on pedicure: rough foot massage, white paint turned to brown(see pic), didn't trim toe nails well. Cons on full set: I asked for gel x and they gave me acrylic, packed on layers and layers of power that my hands felt so heavy like bricks, put my hand into the dryer every nail they painted the French tip on, did a mediocre job on a small design. The worst part is it took 3 hours!!!! 3 hours!!! No AC, no water!! I literally hated them so much I went and got them redone after spending so much and wasting so much time. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty empty. I just needed a dip manicure. Overall, it was a good experience but i am disappointed in how quickly the design came off. The dip manicure overall was good. I asked for black tips to be added. The nail tech did it with gel polish and we had them in the UV light for longer than usual (he said black is harder to dry so we did extra long sessions to be sure). Well, Monday morning after i got out of the shower, some of the gel has peeled off already. Not sure why it happened so soon. I was truly in love with the design but i think I'll just take off the gel polish because it's starting to come off on other nails. This is generally why i don't just get gel manicures on my natural nails. It's always hit or miss. Anyways, like i said, the dip manicure is solid. Overall a great experience.
