Based on the reviews, I expected the food here to be great. While the service was so, so friendly-- just great vibes-- unfortunately the food was not a hit. I got the shrimp with cashews combo plate, which comes with rice and an egg roll. The egg roll was good! But the rice was bland yellow rice (almost like minute rice??), and the shrimp was overcooked. I mostly picked out the cashews and ate those with rice. While I was in the restaurant, I also took a peek at the buffet and was surprised to see it was mostly American food, and seemed to have been sitting out awhile. We were debating between here and any of the fast food options while passing through and unfortunately I think would go with the fast food if we were coming through again. read more

When you're traveling, Chinese buffets are usually not a first dining option, at least in my opinion. Kai based on other reviews seemed like a legitimate option, however. It's located on the side of a building it shares with other businesses, but has poor visibility from the road, so look for the Dunkin' Donuts. Parking might be an issue due to the lack of spots. This is a small Chinese buffet, one of the smallest I've ever seen, with only four hot tables and another area for sushi/cold items. Due to this, they lack a lot of the western options that most buffets have including a large salad bar. There Chinese options however, are solid. Even when eating here at an off hour, everything was hot and plentiful. Chinese options that were good included the egg roll, friend rice, lo mein, chicken and broccoli, pork and mushrooms, and the seafood in butter. Sushi options were limited, but fine for a Chinese restaurant. Desert was basic including several fruit options and ice cream. Even with the restaurants size, they have a decent amount of seating. Kai also serves Pepsi products. Price was fair for the options offered. Overall, Kai is a good option if you're looking for a Chinese buffet when in the Clearfield area. read more

The host/waiter was very nice. Quick to clear plates and ask if we wanted drink refills. The food was good, I especially loved the sushi bar. Hot food was tasty with a large variety. Desert included ice cream. Several of the small cakes were really stale. This was the only think that kept me from giving them 5 stars read more

I walked into the restaurant and was greeted by a very kind lady. The place was lively and it took my family a few minutes between deciding whether to take the buffet or order takeout. The lady was nice and accommodating throughout the whole process. In the end, we decided to dine-in. I ordered the vegetable Lo Mein, and was thoroughly impressed! The food arrived very quickly and was just the right temperature. The noodles were Shanghai style and tasted amazing. Lots of vegetables in the noodles as expected. What tops the whole experience off is the price of everything on the menu. Overall experience was amazing. Would definitely recommend. Have no complaints at all! Great service. read more

(UPDATE: looks like there was a reopening, this review is from before). The only thing I can really say is that it's oddly mediocre-- the food is slightly greasy, it's bland, the decor's outdated and mismatched, and everything's a little grimy. But if you're looking for cheap food (the buffet deal is great) and something a bit more refreshing compared to the sub-par fast food around here, I suppose this is where to go. It has a decent amount of options if East Asian cuisine isn't your favorite, and the staff are friendly. But other than that, it's just "okay." Maybe it's just the New York City snob in me talking, but I wouldn't exactly recommend this. It's alright, though, and no where near terrible. read more

I went in today for a bite to eat it was good the place a small there was only one chinese woman working there at the time we went in she was very nice with us and she liked it when I said hi to her in her native tongue I also asked her how she was today and when we got done I told her goodbye in her native tongue She spoke some chinese to me because I don't think she knew if I knew a lot of Chinese or not and I dont but I know what I need to know I cant say I will be back there I like to but it isn't near me. read more

We've eaten at a lot of Chinese buffets in our time of travels and probably the best one we ate at was one down in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Kai's buffet by far surpassed even that. It was just an absolutely wonderful experience starting with the owner's wife greeting us at the door and being so friendly. The selection of food items was unbelievable from sushi to desserts and wonderful crab Rangoon's and especially a Hot and sour soup which I would recommend to anyone who likes spicy soup. I kept going back for more and more until I was so full I couldn't eat anything more I would recommend this buffet to any of the travelers who travel interstate 80 and stop at Clearfield Pennsylvania. We Really enjoyed the experience including the owners wife giving my wife a hug at the end of our meal and thanking us for coming. Wonderful experience, great buffet.
