Kaffe Mercantile is a pleasantly spacious espresso bar in the heart of Ogden, Utah. Merc is on the main drag, only steps away from iFly Utah. As usual, I enjoyed a 4 shot Americano, with room for half and half cream. The espresso is a balanced medium roast, with a clean and pleasant taste. There are also a variety of light meal options, including quiche with avocado, which was very good (although the portion was slightly small). As an added bonus, the cafe sells local artwork, woodwork, and other craft items. It's an interesting stop, and well worth the detour from more commercial coffee shops. A chill place with good seating, stable wi-fi, a local-friendly atmosphere, and unexpectedly good coffee from a local roaster up in Logan, UT. I liked the wood flooring, cozy seating, and "I Heart Ogden" buttons. Little bits and trinkets and nick nacks are for sale if you're into that. I really was surprised by the quality of the coffee. I've had a tough go at finding truly unique and tasty brew ever since moving from Chicago. GFC is better than S'Bucks, but it just doesn't have that artisan flair I got spoiled on in Chicagoland. So I was quite surprised by the "Highlander Grog." I'm looking forward to trying some of the other brews. I enjoyed the very unique outdoor seating. Apparently, Kaffe Mercantile is just someone's house that was revamped into a coffee shop, so the "back yard" has tables and chairs all over the place like you're hanging out over at someone's house. I'd like to see how it looks during the busy season. Unfortunately KM closes a tad early for my tastes, 7 most days and 6 others, since I like to work at coffee shops. Wonderful little coffee shop! My parent's live a few blocks away and while visiting I stopped by Kaffe Mercantile a number of times. It's a cute, friendly and cozy little place. I didn't get a chance to hang out on their patio as it was still pretty chilly, but it looked nice. I'm a latte kind of gal, and Kaffe Mercantile offers a variety of flavor shots so I tried the raspberry, butterscotch, and vanilla. The coffee was always nice and hot but not undrinkable- which is always nice. As fun as the flavors are, I think I'll still with regular, but that's not the coffee shop's fault. They offer a number of food items but I didn't get a chance to try them. Everything looked/sounded good, and I'll definitely try something the next time I'm in town. The private, shaded area is almost like being in your own beautiful backyard. It's difficult not to feel relaxed especially in June midmorning in Ogden when the weather sports a cool 75 degrees. During the summer months on Saturdays and Sundays, there is a Free (donations welcome) yoga class with rotating teachers in the backyard area. It's not just for the yoga dedicated- I felt just as welcome even though I'm fairly new to yoga and do not advertise the typical yoga body. Bonus- Drinks are 15% off after class. There is an Air BnB attached to the coffee shop which provides guests with the option of fresh brewed coffee. I recently read an article about a gorgeous low budget wedding held in Kaffe Mercantile's backyard. I briefly met one of the owners Nick and his adorable puppy Lizzy at my last visit.
