The short: This is the kind of place that you think of when you hear neighborhood coffee shop. Got awesome waffles(hurt my wallet though). The long: This is the kind of place that you can imagine someone coming here every day for years. Some place that's so deeply intertwined with a random neighborhood and you wouldn't ever know about it unless you came here. It's got character, the scratches in the walls, the adorable tables and chairs, adorable trinkets and treats you can buy, nice baristas up front and some awesome hot chocolate and waffles. Now the only reason I give it 4 instead of five is because it is $6 per waffle, I don't love it but I will admit that they'd get me paying that same $6 every time I went in there. But as I said the aesthetic was perfect. Especially for a coffee date or just taking a seat and reading a book. I genuinely enjoyed my time here, and i believe if you enjoy coffee shops then you would too. Thanks for letting me stop by and eating some killer waffles! 4.25/5

Found this cute little place on our roadtrip. Great spot for breakfast. I had the bacon spinach quiche which was delicious. My family had the waffle sammies, they were so good! the waffle was the highlight. Also the salted caramel latte was perfect, not too sweet. Service was good, staff were friendly and the bathrooms were clean.

Was staying across the street in Ogden for a couple of days and stopped by each morning for drinks and pastries. This place is located in a cute and quiet neighborhood, and is pretty cozy. The shop itself offers a warm and welcoming environment and is bustling with customers trying to get their morning fix. Although the shop is a bit small, there is plenty of seating and an open area to wait for your items. Additionally, art and merchandise line the walls, so there is always something to look at. I personally ended up buying a sticker of a painting made by a local artist. As for the drink/pastries I ordered a pumpkin chai with their house made puree and was not disappointed. I enjoyed it a lot. The only downside was it had a slightly odd aftertaste. As for the pastries, I had a blueberry banana muffin and a pumpkin turnover which were just alright. Staff are friendly and personable, even during the chaos of a rush. Lowkey though, the minimum option to tip being 20% is kind of crazy, considering that it is /just/ a small coffee shop. Still gave the tip anyway. Overall, it was a good experience and I enjoyed my drink both mornings I was here. I see why it is always so busy. If i'm in the area again, I'd likely come back. *staff/customers in my attached photos have been blurred to protect their identity.

Omg this place is the most epic coffee shop ever. I have been a barista for 5 years now and am pretty picky to my demise we are traveling from Washington and picked Kaffe Mercantile to stop in! Service was superb, Ellie was amazing and so patient with me, and the coffee was fire! I got espresso over ice with cream and she let me add the cream and my husband got a hot americano! We also tried the avo toast with egg and it was delish and fresh, only complaint is the toast was a little burnt but it made up for it in flavor, and it was like a nice thick toast yk. Had a great time and it's a super cute building, 10/10 go here

Nick and lance thank you for opening your shop This mercantile location on 25th street is the best on the street. The interior is the cleanest most comfortable cafe experience I've ever had. Wow, a great find in Ogden. The chocolate and cherry scone was great. Lots of local color if you know what I mean. COVID compliant. Do allow you to sit inside with ok distancing. The sustainability is as best as can be expected.

I have zero idea how anyone can ever say anything bad about this place . This place, their coffee, the staff , all morning MAKERS. I'm a zombie in the morning and there is nothing like grumbling into a coffee shop to be greeted by such rad people. They're not in your face, annoyingly fakey nice. Just regular, genuine , good people, making the neighborhood better . They are the epitome of the east bench and if that means anything to you then you will "get it" . There's a pocket of people that have passion about the GOOD things that are here in Ogden and any day you walk into this place you will be reminded that you are here in that circle. Came to visit my family here in Ogden I'm from Cali and u love visiting tea and coffee shops. Came here after reading the reviews and well its a cute place I ordered a vanilla latte iced nothing special my sis ordered a green tea iced hmmm it was the worst ever service was ok we went like 10 min before closing so the barista looked tired. I'll give it another try in my next visit hopefully I get satisfied this time. Btw I loved the lil shop too read more

Stopped in for morning coffee and breakfast while passing through on our way back to Seattle. We were warmly greeted by the friendliest staff, and you could tell that the staff is close with their regular customers which really adds to the welcoming atmosphere. The food and beverage selection always looks really good and is delicious. The staff are always helpful and pleasant and I love the ambience. My only caveat is that if you order tea, order either the small or medium and not the large. They use only two tea bags for either large or medium so it's cheaper just to get the medium and the large tends to be a little watery. read more

Great coffee shop. I take one star off because there's only street parking and its a little cramped inside, but that can make a place like this have an intimate feel. I think it has a great atmosphere. Once me and my friends brought our young kids in the back patio (closed-in) and it was very nice because it was private and we didn't feel our kids were bothering anyone. Good coffee! read more

The customer service at Kaffe Mercantile is nothing short of AMAZING. I'm a regular customer, and today I drove to grab a tea on my lunch. To my shock and surprise, my card was declined. (AGH!) Instead of making a big deal out of it - they acted like it was no big deal, handed me my tea, and sympathized with me and my embarrassing card moment. Now THAT is a fantastic example of good customer service! The owners are kind, caring people - and that is reflected in their employees as well. Plus their coffee, tea, scones, etc. are DELICIOUS and can't be beat! If you try any coffee shop in the Ogden area, Kaffe Mercantile is the place to go. Love these guys! read more

Established in 2006.

From Hughes Market to Jun's to now, Kaffe Mercantile is the epitome of historical charm. With reclaimed wood trim, marble countertops, and schoolhouse lights, you'll feel like you've stepped back in time. Originally built in 1920, Kaffe Mercantile has always been a neighborhood market and at one point even a butcher! The restoration on this building is remarkable. This combined with friendly faces, delicious coffee and delectable treats make Kaffe Mercantile a must see!

Meet the Business Owner: Lance S.

Lance and NIck have been the owners of Kaffe Mercantile since 2009. They are residents in the same neighborhood as the shop and love the area. Both have received their training from Cafe Ibis in Logan, Ut which is also Kaffe Mercantile's supplier. Lance and Nick love what they do and strive to show that in everything Kaffe Mercantile offers.

I also want to point out, this coffee shop is perfectly tailored for students! While im not one, i can appreciate their attention to things they might need. Theres a printer, a meeting room, outlets literally everywhere, and plenty of space. The baristas were patient while i decided and speedy to get my cup out. Theres a nice large cream and sugar bar to dress your cup how youd like. A parking lot is attached so dont worry about finding a spot. Great shop!

Now the food was not hitting for me. I got the breakfast scramble with sourdough toast and asked for no mayo. I received mayo. And the toast might have been the THINNEST sourdough ive ever seen??? Look at it! Idk. I love bread so i was expecting ... more than an eighth of an inch of it? Anyway, the scramble was meh and i just used napkins to wipe off the mayo. Just a bummer, i am probably going to other coffee shops over this one in the future.

Oh my, this is such a cozy, serene, and beautiful tea shop. The boy who works here is super nice. They have a really wide range of tea selection. They have sandwiches and toasts too, but I did not try those yet. The tea I got is very nice. I think all tea or drinks on their menu look great.

The one time I tried to visit this place to check out their food, coffee, and work with my laptop, they wouldn't allow non-club guests to get beyond the host counter. And by "non-club" I mean that exact day the venue was hosting a marijuana event to allow paying members to taste test and discuss pot. As an independent cafe, why would you allow such an event to close off the rest of the public from enjoying food and coffee? The staff was not friendly, nor understanding that it was my first time there. Even after I told them I would sit in the corner and keep to myself while I worked. Big no bueno. read more

Ample parking in the lot. There's outdoor and indoor seating (upstairs and downstairs). Plenty of seating. Cute art decor on the wall and the cafe has been around for manyyyyyyy years. Iced latte was well-balanced with expresso shots and milk. My friend ordered the panini sandwich and she said it was good. Nothing, but good vibes with a nice view. I'd come back again when I'm in town again :)
