Kacaba has some great wines and are worth stopping by to check them out. My faves include their 2017 Sparkling and their Terraced Syrah. The folks are always really pleasant here. They are now doing timed bookings for wine tastings. You can go to their website and just book the timeslot you want. I believe it is $15 per person for tasting. They were doing them just on the weekend when we were last there in June (the wine store is open every day), but maybe since Stage 3 was announced for that area, they are doing them more frequently. They are being responsible about social distancing. Make sure you take your mask - although obviously you can dispense with it once you are seated for tasting! :-) read more

Late to the review party! Went here on a Ice Wine Discovery pass. It's a smaller winery, that focuses more on reds (I'm more of a white wine girl, but can appreciate a lighter red). Service wise - everyone is friendly and knowledgeable about their wines. They truly excel at service. On top of the Ice Wine tasting, we did additional tastings as we were curious about some of the reds. The staff even gave an additional free sample to me as I was asking questions about one of their wines. And a decent sample size..I'm not talking about a dribble in the glass. They seem to have won a lot of awards for their reds - so if this is your thing - definitely hit this winery up. I did end up buying a lighter red here, so I was happy with that. Unfortunately, at this time they don't sell to the LCBO (I assume they don't produce enough to meet LCBO requirements). read more

If I were to base my review solely on customer service, it would be a 5* - no doubt! The guy who was helping me out was very congenial and helpful. However, I just came from another much nicer winery, so I can't help but compare the views, tasting room, atmosphere, and taste. Kacaba is a smaller winery, specialising in Reds, and they produce approx. 10 000 cases of wine a year. Apparently, that isn't enough to meet the demands of the LCBO, so Kacaba cannot sell to them. The estate itself looks more impressive, newer contemporary, from the outside. Tasting room itself is small, with tall ceilings, but it's a bit outdated. Most tastings are $1.50ea, but Reserves are $3ea. Prices are fair. Most of the wines are on the drier side, so not really suitable for my tastes. I was provided with 3-4 samples, all too dry, and then finally provided with their Ice Wine. It tasted good, but they didn't have anything in between dry - ice wine-sweetness. There wasn't much of a view from the property, so setting wasn't one where you stay, take things in, and relax. No real seating area set-up. Great if you're into drier Reds! Not so much if you're into something sweeter. read more

Kacaba winery is a small batch winery but they make a premium red wines. I've been in love with their reds since the first time I set foot into this winery. I've been visiting since 2013 few times year. Reserve meritage is killer, as well as reserve Cabernet franc. I also love their red blend, cab/Syrah. Price point of reserve reds are bit high but they are excellent. Many wines got many medals from international awards. Small tasting room but you will taste beautiful wine. Service is good and they offer generous tastings. They offer a wine club, I would join if I live locally. If you like red wines, you must try their reds. One of the winery that I would recommend to visit in the Niagara Falls region for red wine. read more

Kacaba is a truly wonderful spot for wine in the Beamsville area. The challenges are these: 1. They have been building an expansion that has gone on forever and not completed as of June, 2017. It will expand their space tremendously. 2. In light of #1, space here is tight. It can be crowded at the tasting station at the door. Those challenges noted,,, They do a great job moving guests throughout their space for tastings. When wines are ready, they will let you taste from the barrel, from a tank, or set up near the barrels to provide for more tasting space. They specialize in reds- you can get a nice cab Franc or Cab Sauv here. Really nice, in fact. Recently, they have also made a move into sparkling (the current one is an award winner). They also have nice white wines. The Jennifer's Pinot Gris and the Susan's Sauvignon Blanc are crisp, easy, reasonably-priced hits. Kacaba is focused on wine. While they will have food events, and while they do sell a few gifts (such as a carafe that is $39.95 and amazing), this is not a luxe chateau, a bakery, a restaurant or a wedding venue that happens to do wine. Service is excellent. I visit often, and I am always pleased with the attentive service. There is no persnickety-ness, and the first thing out of their mouths is not something about tasting fees. They do know their wine and are proud to share in a helpful, easy-to-understand way. I will be back soon. Oh, and the current Rosé (which won't last) is a gem. read more

This was kind of a spur of the moment stop for us when we were bored one day. A little research later, and we stumbled upon Kacaba Vineyards. Their wine is good, and they've got the medals to prove it. While none of their wines quite managed to crack my all-time favorites list, I did enjoy everything I tasted. The closest to doing it was the Terraced Vineyard Syrah, which had dark fruit notes and surprisingly, pie crust. I could see this as an absolutely ideal autumn wine, and it hit the spot for me. I will say that this was VERY close to going in my favorites - unfortunately, I can't get it all the way down here in New Jersey. My girlfriend enjoyed the Pinot Gris so much that we snagged a bottle to take home. Perhaps the defining factor of Kacaba Vineyards, and what I think warrants five stars, is the knowledge shown by the gentleman who did our tasting for us. I learned so much about the effect that the Niagara Escarpment has on wines, why their wines taste the way they do, what areas of the vineyard their roots are, and even about wine in general. It was like a mini wine class, and we very much appreciated it. Five stars! read more

Wine is 5 stars but the service I had was dreadful. Perhaps it was just a bad day but their servers also handle several other tasks meaning we only saw ours every 20-25 minutes. As a former server I was frustrated at their level of service. They did not write down our orders leading to them having to revisit our table to confirm. They were absent most of the time meaning the dishes piled up and we were without basics like water for almost the entire time. And when we were ready to pay the bill the server disappeared for 30 min to the point where I had to physically go into the restaurant to flag her down. They should consider training their staff in all basic areas of restaurant service. Seems like they are better suited to wine tasting and bar service. read more

We came in fifteen minutes before closing, and the first thing we received was a warning that they would be closing soon so they couldn't spend a lot of time with us. Fine. We get it. You want to go home. Two of us tried dryer reds, which ranged from good to weird-smelling (the Syrah, do not recommend, smells like a shoe) and two started with sweeter whites. Our server, Andy, made quite a rude comment to the two starting with the sweeter whites. Though I understand this isn't the traditional direction for a tasting, it set a very bad mood for the rest of our visit. It's perfectly acceptable to go from sweet to sweeter, if that's what the taster prefers. In conclusion, the tasting was affordable, the wine was palatable, but the service was laughable. read more

Found this winery on the way back from the Wayne Gretzky Winery. Was underwhelmed there, so was much more pleased when I stopped at the less commercial Kacaba Vineyards. The wine was better, and when I bought a bottle, I wasn't charged for my tasting, even though there was a price sheet out. Will be popping the 2005 cabernet I purchased this evening, hoping my rating will stand for this winery. read more

To reach this vineyard, we had to drive across this bridge with a sign that assures us a military tank could roll over it and still be okay. How reassuring. But this place was a great find, as I was on the search for Canada's specialty, the ice wine. I tasted their Riesling ice wine and loved it for its desserty sweetness that wasn't as overwhelming as the Cave Spring Cellars' ice wine. The only concern I had was that Kacaba Vineyards' ice wine did not display the VQA designation at all, leading me to question if the lower cost was due to it not being purely and completely made in and from Canada. Oh well, I loved the taste enough to not care. I believe if you end up purchasing a bottle, they waive the tasting fee. read more

Beautiful vineyard. Small winery. They have won accolades at home and abroad for their reds. However, they seem to be better known for their Syrah. Though the syrah lineup was not to our preference, perhaps more suitable for those leaning towards the French (Rhone?) style of winemaking. Staff were friendly and helpful. read more

Pinch me! This place will make you never return to NOTL. The bench area of Jordan and Beamsville has award winning wineries of their own! Sasha and Vadim were to most wonderful hosts, detailing every nuance of their delicious wines. We were also fortunate enough to visit on a day when an Iron Chef was cooking up a roast pork tenderloin pairing too. Kacaba is an absolute must-visit on your wine adventure. read more

We toured Kacaba last weekend. What a great experience. The barrel tasting was an absolute treat. The 2016's are tasting lovely now, they should only get better in the bottle and with age. The real treat was the attentive, passionate and knowledgeable guidance of the assistant winemaker Vadim. If you're in the area stop by and ask for Vadim. Although the range of reds is remarkable, it is the 2016 vintage that shines. read more

I stopped into this vineyard by chance, and it was the best I visited. Our barkeep was never shy with tastings and made sure to have a meaningful conversation with everyone, no matter how busy it was. Tastings were technically no charge (donations to their charity of choice were strongly encouraged). The syrah was peppery and wonderful! read more

A regular stop for me on the Twenty Mile Bench, Kacaba probably makes the best, most consistent reds in Niagara. Their unique location and sculpted topography allows the vineyards to avoid frost which provides them with a longer growing season than other wineries in the area. This longer season allows for greater phenolic ripeness which in turn produces more complex, longer lived wines. I have enjoyed 10+ year old wines from here that still had plenty of legs, something that cannot be said for any other winery in the vicinity. My favourites here are the reserve meritage, reserve cab and the reserve syrah, although I have quite a few other bottles as well. True, these are not bargain basement selections, but these wines are distinguished in quality and well worth the price, which is compatible with other premium wines of the area, and usually better. If you appreciate higher quality reds and are touring the area vineyards, I recommend this winery more than any other. Enjoy! read more

Great spot. Red wines were terrific, haven't found a Cabernet Sauvignon from Niagara with as much fruit. They apparently are protected from frost due to the valley they are in and can have a longer growing season. Worth a visit. read more

This winery is truly one of the best in the region. If you like red wine this is the place to go -- there isn't even a competition here. The reds are spectacular, especially the reserve ones. The Reserve 2010 Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon are lovely. Their whites are good too but I am not much of a white wine drinker so I can't say a lot about those except they do have a great oaked Chardonnay, which they only sell to club members -- its like drinking a cup of popcorn :) I liked it. The people are always friendly and extremely knowledge about wine -- we always chat with them whenever we come and we learned a lot about wine and wine making. The wine is not cheap but I think its well worth the price. read more
