This was the first time I have ever had a horrible experience eating Hibachi. My husband and I came in and we were seating the only thing good was the decor and rain show other than that NOT GOOD AT ALL! First it was very hot in the entire restaurant. The soup tasted like sink water, the dressing on the salad tasted sour. They charge almost $4 extra for friend rice which normally hibachi includes friend rice but besides that it had NO FLAVOR AND WAS HARD AND BURNT! The the veggies and meat had no real flavor and shrimp tasted almost like if it was about to go bad as well. I am also a yum yum sauce fanatic which they also do not include. When I asked the server for yum yum sauce she told me it would also be an extra $2.50 I said ok. When she finally brought it after 15 min of my food getting cold is was definitely NOT YUM YUM. SAUCE. It was literally mayo with siracha super spicy and not nothing like yum yum sauce I eat at every other hibachi place. Then to top it all off the manager /owner came to the table to tell us how amazing her restaurant is and how low there prices are compared to other places and which is why the restaurant is so full. The decor is the only thing good about this place. The thunderstorm on a ship is such a cute idea & people remember that. What a lovely dinner! The staff was friendly and attentive, the food was so gooood! The sushi chef is off on Wednesday, but that's okay, the hibachi is the star of the show anyways. We paid with a 10$ and the waitress came back to thank us for coming in but didn't bring any change. My wife asked for our change and the waitress left to get it. She came back with three dollars and no change. I understand being behind but then you fail to mention that sushi is off the menu, take forever to bring out drinks, don't bring change and then don't bring ALL of the change?! We dined here on account of it's close proximity to the Tesla charger. We arrived at 4pm on a Saturday and it was about a half hour wait to be seated. There was a nice outdoor patio where we waited, so we really appreciative to have that option. Once seated, our waitress was very attentive and personable. There is a water show that re-enacts some battle or something (?) so the dining area goes dark and water cascades from the ceiling for a few minutes. I'm not sure what the backstory is on this, but I think it would make sense to maybe give a point of reference for what this is. It was puzzling. Anywho, the food was okay. We were tight on time so we elected to not sit at a hibachi grillI, but still ordered off the hibachi menu. I had the calamari hibachi (overcooked) and the fried rice was alright, but mainly tasted of black pepper. I've been to many hibachi restaurants and I'd have to say the offerings at Kubuki Romanza were adequate, but none of the food was enticing enough to make me want to come back if we were to drive through Amarillo again. I do however think the team (hostess, waitress and the manager that checked on us) did a great job of providing attentive service. read more

Didn't take long to get seated. Waitress was amazing and so helpful, didn't mind all our questions being first time. Drinks were very good didn't chinch on booze. Super frustrating that I called for a reservation for a kiddos birthday party for a certain time and was told by the hostess that 1) they didn't take them for small parties and 2) we wouldn't need one anyway. We psyched the kid up for the experience and showed up at the time we requested the reservation... just to show up and be told it's a 2 hour wait by a moderately rude hostess. I get that it's busy, but man. Seems like there is a better way. Tonight, we had a bad experience that could have been prevented with basic restaurant policies and training. :( read more

Just okay. I came here for dinner and a show. I ordered bacon wrapped asparagus yakitori to start and half steak half scallops with fried rice for the entrée. The yakitori was plain, but I guess it wasn't horrible for the $2 we paid. The teppan entrée was good. My steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and my scallops were delicious. It also came with a mountain full of fried rice and veggies.The food was a little on the oily side for my taste, but still tasty. The part I was most disappointed in was the "show" part. My chef didn't perform any neat tricks, large fires, or anything show worthy. He literally just cooked in front of us. People probably come here for the dining experience and the environment. The teppan tables are on a giant floating boat where rain falls from the ceiling every 30 mins around the boat. It's a neat concept but not my exact cup of tea. A waitress sat our rather large group at 2 tables, the manger came and reseated us due to her saying the hibachi grills did not get hot enough. A little while later she sat a bigger group of hockey players at 4 tables including the two that supposedly didn't get hot enough. I would assume that group called ahead and she knew it would be more revenue for the establishment. I call that lying and opportunistic. The service was fair and the chef was entertaining. When it came time to pay our bill, it took about 20 minutes. I paid with cash and part of the bill included a 25% gratuity because of the size of our group. I did not receive my full amount back. They only gave back bills, no coinage. I felt that since the gratuity was included in the bill, I wanted the full amount back to me. I questioned the server, but it made no difference. I would advise people to pay with a card of some sort, not cash. The establishment steals from you with the cash payments. This is a reflection on the leadership as they set the rules. I will not return. I do not like the 5% they stole from me. read more
