5 STARS!!! Well-seasoned but in addition to being tasty, it was beautifully moist, not overcooked the way many restaurants serve it.

Somebody sent us to this restaurant with instruction that we had to absolutely asked for the "chicken roll". Well, we never got to that. The ground beef seasoned kabob was extraordinary in that it was not overcooked, but instead tasted great and was super juicy. We tried the hummus sampler which is three styles and the standard one was really good, but the other two were just a little bit too spicy for our tastes. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs as we hadn't eaten all day and we were so hungry that the ordering got away from us LOL. The baklava is freshly made every two days, but there's no photo because Mr. Picky ate it when my head was turned. It's all halal which sets my mind at rest. It's a bit of a drive to get there from here but next time we go I'll run through all the individual dishes. In the meantime, I can definitely recommend the place.

This is a casual restraunt where you order at the counter. I ordered chicken biryani rice. It came with chicken on the bone. It was good! I also tried my partners chicken tikka masala. It was also good! Both dishes seemed authentic. They had a good amount of spice in them, but it wasn't overbearing. We ordered some Naan bread for the table, and it was some of the best around.

We ordered the Chicken Kabab plate and butter chicken. The veggies were burnt. The chicken in the plate was too dry and the salad was not fresh at all. The butter chicken was not too bad thus the 2 stars.

12/31/19 I found this place thanks to yelp Great reviews and photos had me come here. Well that and my love of Mediterranean food. I ordered a mixed grill meal, which came with various meats, on a bed of rice and a few select veggies. Salad came along with it, and I ordered garlic naan. This is the type of restaurant that you order before you sit so the food is hot and delicious. I was well taken cared of here by the staff and enjoyed all my food thoroughly. I had so much, it made it lunch for me on the next day.

This place is a casual restaurant where you order at the register and they bring it to your table. The service was very kind and patient with all of their customers. We ordered the chicken seekh kabob wrap (not pictured), chicken shawarma platter with hummus and tabouleh and onion naan. My favorite was the seekh kabob it was so flavorful and juicy! I would come back just for that. I'm not sure we would get the shawarma again, the flavor was good but it was just a tad bit dry :/ and the hummus wasn't the best we've had. But we definitely want to come back to try more items.

This is a great local business with a good lunch special and great serving of food for the price. I will say the shawarma can be rather greasy, but seasoned well

Omg! Glad I gave this place a try, everything was amazing. The best gyro I have had in years and I have eaten a lot of gyros. The pita was melt in your mouth and so was the meat. The gyro meat had so much flavor and was so moist and the tzatziki sauce was so creamy and delicious. I was even surprised how much I liked the Naan, it is just bread. But it was soft and seasoned well I couldn't stop eating it. I also got a baklava to try and that was perfectly executed. The phyllo was flaky and it wasn't overly sweet like some baklava. Will definitely return when I am in the area. Might even just drive out as a destination.

    CHICKEN SEEKH KABOB PLATTER

First time trying Mediterranean food and it was pretty good. I ordered the chicken seekh kabobs, rice, a side of garlic naam bread with spicy hummus and the baqlawa alamode. The chicken and rice was pretty good but my personal favorite was the regular naam bread with the spicy hummus. The garlic naam had a little to much garlic for me. But the baqlawa was a great way to finish my meal. Just wish it was a little bit more fresh. It was quiet, clean and the cashier was nice and helpful. I still want to go back and try one of the wraps.

    Average Mix Grill Platter

This little corner restaurant is fairly well known around this community by people who either love it or avoid it. Its primary focus is grilled meat dishes such as Kebabs and Shawarma, alongside smaller South Asian appetizers such as Daal and Chaat. They also have a selection of 3 bread options. A fairly average menu selection for a Halal Grill Selection, the restaurant overall fits the label of 'Average'. Their service is underwhelming at best, with either uncomfortable or restless employees, with nary a smile in sight. They had to be asked for plates for both appetizer and entree, their tables don't really fit the people they sit and feed, and their gratuity charge starts from 4+ people, the smallest group number I've seen in Texas thus far. The only redeeming factor is that the restaurant was fairly busy at the time of our sale. The food on its own was also rather standard, with not much heat or seasoning, and reminded me of Shan Masala spice packets. It was however cooked properly and fully, despite other reviews, which is at the minimum par for a respectable restaurant. The food was otherwise unremarkable, with nothing unique or special that could make one decide to return to this location specifically. In culmination, this place is stay or go, hit or miss. It's an option that's out there, but not one that Is specifically recommend above the rest. Other options such as Tempura across the street offer a reputation as well, so look into your option before this one.

(This is my opinion though as every meal I tried was spicy) but non the less they were delicious. Wonderful and helpful staff and great portion sizes. Things to definitely try is first the mango lassi drink! Delicious!!! Don't knock until you've tried it! Then the burnt garlic fried rice with dynamite chicken or the chicken tikka masala also enjoyed the lamb masala. Their menu is a mixture of fusion and traditional Indian foods. The only thing I didn't enjoy that much was two of their deserts, the gulab jamun which is like donut holes soaked in sugar, it was overly sweet for me and then the gajar ka halwa which was like a sweet potato desert. Everything else was tasty and delicious and I truly had a great dinner.

It was a Friday evening, the day after Christmas 2025. We arrived here around 6:30pm and found parking fairly quickly. The restaurant at the time was not busy and we were seated almost immediately in the middle of the room. We spent about 10 minutes to decide on what to order and we opted to share family style. Our time here was about 1 hour or so, finally leaving around close to 8pm. It was definitely a nice place to be in, especially with Indian cuisine. The ambiance was nice and quiet. I guess we got the jackpot or avoided any dinner rush on a Friday night. We ended up ordering individually between us and added more food if needed. We ordered biryani, lamb korma, some spicy dumplings, tandoor chicken, which was nice and spicy, an order of veggie samosas, and of course, garlic naan to smooth things out. It was a feast for the eyes and taste buds. The staff here was very professional and dedicated to the food and cuisine that they serve every night. I did enjoy the restaurant's decor while we dined. The quality of the food and portions were adequate. You might want to do yourself a favor and come here, if you are in the Houston area and want to give tihs place a try. The overall experience here at The Monk's Indian Bistro was very good and quite a magical actually. It felt like a good place to go to when you are feeling Indian cuisine but don't want to drive around Houston looking for that sweet spot for lunch or dinner. The restaurant itself is visually beautiful and they try to make it upscale while being a good place to have your next meal. I particularly enjoyed the lamb korma and the tandoor chicken. They had forgotten to make the tandoor chicken after the rest of the order had been delivered already. We ended up having the tandoor chicken at the end of the meal. Everything was amazing and full of good flavors. It was a meal that filled our bellies and definitely was awesome. Maybe my friend decided to celebrate Christmas with us a day later. Who knows. Only thing I do know is that this place is very good and you should try it out sometime, if you are in the Humble area of Houston, Texas. Give it a try and you won't regret it. The Monk's Indian Bistro is located at 9626 FM 1960 Bypass Rd W in Humble, Texas. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. As far as parking goes, they have plenty of parking here for anyone and everyone who wishes to go here to have their slice of Indian fare. It's not too far from the Houston (IAH) international airport. There is always Uber and Lyft at your disposal, if you need them on demand. For the most part though, it was a delicious meal that will captivate you and your senses, not to mention your taste buds and everything that you are. While I have yet to immerse myself in the biriyani's, I know for a fact that the curries are amazing and I do enjoy the basmati rice and the garlic naan. My absolute favorite would be the tandoor chicken. Might need to see if I can find a recipe for that. In the meantime though, The Monk's Indian Bistro here in Houston, Texas is legit and definitely one you'd want to come to while you're traveling through Texas. It was definitely delicious and hope it will be for you. My friends and I enjoyed it. The spices can be overwhelming but it was good and helpful. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. Support local! A+

My husband is from India (Gujarat) so we eat authentic Indian food on a regular basis and we found the food here to be a different flavor than what we're used to, probably because it's more Pakistani than Indian in terms of flavor. Both of the curries we had were more sweet than what we're used to, but they weren't bad. Just didn't satisfy our cravings! My husband ordered the Paani Puri as it's his all-time favorite dish and they prepared it here much differently than what he's used to. He really wasn't a fan. Their Masala Fries (an appetizer), however, were absolutely incredible! I haven't had fries like this before and the crunch fries paired with the assorted sauce combination was so delicious. If you're looking for Indian food and are searching for a specific flavor palette, I might recommend trying elsewhere because your tastebuds might not be fully satisfied here. Otherwise, give this place a try as they have a variety of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options to choose from!
