We rescued Daphne from Beyond Rescue back in January 2022 (Lena is the co-founder which is a major plus!) Our dog was reactive on leash and had separation anxiety. We did a three week board and train program and let me tell you, we are SO happy with Daphne's results. Lena worked miracles with our 2 year old boston terrier. Our boston was jumping up and nipping/biting us without warning about 4-5x per day. We were all miserable. Lena boarded our dog for 3 weeks and trained her with loose leash walking, the ability to not go nuts when seeing strangers on walks, and most importantly she trained our dog to understand consequences of the nipping. Lena doesn't mess around! The nipping happened occasionally after we got our dog back but we were able to learn how to "nip" it in the bud. :) And I appreciated that Lena followed up with sessions afterwards. I emailed Lena back in Nov 2017 regarding a very upsetting event with my dog and 1.5 year old daughter at that time. My daughter was left unsupervised while we had a babysitter, my dog was on the couch while sleeping which we don't allow around her and he was pushed to his limits, grabbed her arm but didn't break any skin. It was the only time he's ever shown any aggression towards her so it put us in a very difficult position. We've had our dog since 2008 and he is like our first child. My daughter of course came first so I was seriously considering either putting him up for adoption (but no one could take him) or putting him to sleep, which broke my heart. Thankfully I reached out to Lena and she gave my husband and I perspective on why he acted that way and he could have chosen to break skin but he didn't. Everything was on video so she was able to see what actually happened. Lena helped calm my nerves and not make a quick decision to put him down since he isn't an aggressive or mean dog. She recommended we keep them separated with gates for the meantime and only have him around her if me or my husband was home. Luckily, we had a large space for him so he wasn't just locked up. He had a portion of the back hallway, his own bedroom with a sliding door access to the backyard so he had a lot of free roaming space. Whenever we were both home, we'd allow him around us with my daughter, although it took some time for me to trust he wouldn't hurt her. The adjustment was hard but he got used to it and now 2 years later, he's shown that he can be around her, always with supervision of course. I'm glad we decided to keep him because my daughter loves him and vice versa. He's just turned 11 so he can live out his years as a happy old man lol and my now 3.5 year old can grow up with him. We came to Lena back in June when we adopted our first dog ever, Zazie. Zazie struggled with separation anxiety, lack of obedience, territorial issues over the home, and overall anxiety in new situations and with new people. Lena set up a zoom call to chat through our obstacles and goals and we ended up speaking for over 45 minutes. After many questions, my partner and I agreed that we wanted to set Zazie up for success and Lena was going to help us. Lena came to pick up Zazie and gave us a full run through of what the following two weeks would look like for Zazie and customized her plan for success. Throughout the 2 weeks Lena gave us constant video and picture updates from zazies progress and was always available to answer any questions we had. When it was time for Zazie to come home, Lena prepared a detailed take home document for us to reference and spend 1.5 hours going through next steps. As soon as Zazie came home we saw how much she benefited from her time with Lena. She stopped growling at the mail woman, she didn't whine in her crate, we could leave and run errands for hours without Zazie having a full melt down, and she's much better on walks now!! I have two very different dogs, one is high energy and loves training where my other dog is stubborn, head strong, lazy and could care less about training. Lena has worked with me so I can better manage my pack. I have a weird work schedule so that means the dogs have a different schedule too, and in part it's created some anxiety in my home when I come and leave so frequently and for only short breaks. Lena helped me make a plan and schedule for how to not let me anxious energy and schedule rub off on the dogs. We were very worried, because we love our dog and she loves playing with other dogs... it was a sad thought to believe that she wouldn't be able to socialize as much because she doesn't like a few certain dogs. We got in touch with Lena though a recommendation from a rescue company. I was pretty distraught about the situation with her on the phone, but she immediately calmed me down. She explained how some dogs could become selective, assuaged a lot of my fears, and she laid out a plan for training our girl to become better behaved around dogs she doesn't care for. I was worried about price, but this service is very affordable. Best of all, Lena does 1-on-1 training with the dogs she teaches. And she came to our house and neighborhood for each lesson. We would go train in areas both familiar and new to our dog. Her training sessions are long enough to allow time to really help our dog. She trained us on what we needed to do to get the pup to behave as needed. She explained the psychology. She gave us the tips and tricks necessary to improve our situation dramatically. She has vast knowledge on dog psychology, and was able to get get through to our somewhat rambunctious pet with ease, and taught us how to do the same. We even learned how to improve other factors of our dogs behavior. After 3-4 months of weekly lessons, our girl is changed for the better.
