5 stars are honestly not enough. We have boarded our dog here for 10 years and have always had a great experience. He is so excited when we get there and practically pulls me into the building. My most recent experience was unbelievable and prompted this review. My dog was recovering from a skin infection that he had been treated for, but the owner, Rita, noticed that his wound didn't look good and she actually reached out to my vet for me because I was out of town for my father's memorial service. She ended up taking my dog to my vet for assessment, and the vet said he had a secondary infection that needed serious treatment. His wound needed quite a bit of care, and Rita actually ended up taking him to her home and caring for him there. She also took him to the vet for a follow-up appointment in my absence. I was overwhelmed at the amazing care she took of my dog. read more

I had a meet & greet with my dog scheduled for daycare, and arriving at the facility, I asked if it was possible to do a quick tour in the area where my dog would be since it was his first time there. While talking with the friendly receptionist, I could hear dogs barking in the background (totally normal since we are in a daycare facility and very close to the big dog's play area) when I heard a very loud woman's voice shouting, "Shut up!". I was shocked at how she yelled at the dogs, and immediately, I started to be concerned about leaving my dog there. Despite the first impression, I decided to move forward with the tour. It was quick but enough for me not to feel safe, and I decided to cancel the meet & greet and not leave my dog there. I was polite since the receptionist was very friendly. But I couldn't ignore the red flags I experienced. It is filthy, with poor lighting in certain areas and a weird facility setup. read more

This place takes such good care of our girl Dottie. She comes home so tired and happy, I know she's in good hands. They offer nail clips and baths before you pick up (for a fee) so she's all fresh for home. They do open sleeping, grouped by size/energy, so our babies aren't in a cage, just hanging out and snuggling. An overnight attendant stays with them. One thing to note, they're only open for pickup on Sundays from 3-6pm. read more

Happy Tails is a happy place for our pup. We've done both the daycare and sleepover for 5 nights and Winnie comes home exhausted, happy and you can tell the folks there really love dogs. She's excited to go and never looks back at drop off. They also bathe your pup if you wish and do a good job of keeping them away from the other dogs post bath. The only thing I wish they had was a camera for us to peep occasionally on how the dogs are doing, but this is not a deterrent to the good service they currently offer. Highly recommend! read more

We are pretty new customers to Happy Tails. Unfortunately I think this place can do a better job of communicating their odd fees rather than hitting customers with hidden fees. We were going out of town on Saturday and would return late. They asked us to drop off the dog on Friday night before they closed. We were coming back from out of town late on Saturday night. When I asked the person when I could pick up the dog on Sunday morning. He said I'd have to come in after 3:00pm when they opened. I arrived around 4:00. I was surprised that Happy Tails charged me a day visit because they open late on Sunday but never bothered to communicate an additional day fee, when I inquired about what we'd be charged for before leaving the dog. When I called to inquire about what I felt was a hidden fee, the manager said that I should have read it on the website. That maybe the case but they could have also communicated it to me when I asked before I left our dog. Isn't that just good business practice? Plus, why penalize a customer because the company chooses to open late, so they can collect a day fee? I would have chosen to pick up my dog in the morning, but they don't open until the late afternoon. I'm not a fan of hidden fees or sneaking billing. I wanted to share my unexpected and unfortunate experience that I had so others can be aware of their questionable billing practices. read more

Great Doggy Daycare! I have been taking my dogs to Happy Tails for about 10 years. My pups come home happy and tired! They get a great workout there. One of our dogs has a back problem and once in a great while it acts up. The staff knows the signs he is uncomfortable and will (on my instruction) put him in his crate so he can rest for a while. I always bring his crate but most of the time he prefers to sleep with the rest of the dogs. The staff is fantastic, loving and caring. They have even helped me with getting some weight off one of our beagles (I need to bring him back - that breed loves to eat). They care about their clients, canine and human. Would never hesitate to recommend Happy Tails! read more

Giving this place five stars for the following reasons: 1. Staff are friendly and competent. They do care about your pets. I really like the fact they require a first time evaluation (complementary) to see where and how your dog fits in. 2. The place is very decent in size, with lots of running space for the dogs 3. We started bringing our golden retriever there in January, but he's gotten kennel cough twice from there. Most of the staff have been very friendly. However, when we left him for 5 days in late July, he wasn't bathed (when we had asked them to bathe him before pick up). HeHe also got a really bad case of kennel cough a couple days later. I can't say enough about how pleased I was with Happy Tails today! It was our first visit and Pam did an amazing job with my dog! Both the owner and Pam were patient and understanding when I wanted to go a little shorter on cut. They even mentioned their 72 hour policy if there is something you want changed! It's now been over 10 years since Max started going to Happy Tails and every time I say the words "Happy Tails" to him he at a minimum starts wagging his tail and sometimes starts running around whimpering to get in the car Local, family-owned business and everyone who works there is a dog-lover! The follow through was excellent and the photos received during the drive (over 7 hours) were wonderful at putting me at ease. My puppies just love this place! As soon as they get out of the car, they always make a mad dash for the front door to get into the establishment. New grooming place for us! We always took our rescue to PetSmart, but were never really too happy with everything overall. Tried a different private groomer in SF and he cut her really bad, didn't even tell us! So we were hesitant and anxious choosing another groomer but with all the PetSmart stories we did. We just rescued a senior rescue a month ago and he's very special needs so it really urged us to look for a more caring situation. Last time we took our other pup to PetSmart, they kept her for almost 9 hours (and I'm sure the majority of that time was spent in a tiny kennel). Happy tails was so gentle with our senior pup and he looked so good after! Will definitely be back for both pups :-) read more

Your Mom didn't call for an explanation or an apology, that is the reason he had to hang up on her. Now here you are, without apologies trying to find excuses in every way to cover up the behavior. Yes, my husband's son takes Tule for duck hunting on weekends occasionally. 8-year old Tule has been duck hunting every year with him and growing up with him. They love each other. Are you questioning that he doesn't know how to feed Tule properly? Actually Tule has never had any severe weight loss or health problems in the past except this time with Happy Tail. According to a previous employee of you after we posted the review, the ratio of employees to dog at your place is 2 : 50-60, which means two employees take care of 50 -60 dogs. How could you give proper care and attention to dogs with that ratio? Yes, we posted the previous review after four months, timing will never change the nature of the truth. Four months or four years don't change the fact that Tule was starved at Happy Tail, and it was because of your neglect causing our extra costs on Tule's medical expenses. As a business, you probably should focus more on how to take care the clients instead of how to fight with them. We understand reputation is important to a business, the only way to get high reviews on your business is to do the right thing. read more

I used to be a big fan of this place. In fact, they've watched both of my dogs on different occassions. However, I noticed that over time, the quality of care, and should I say "niceness" of the employees (family run business) seemed to be put on the back burner as other "new" people were coming in with their dogs to be evaluated or to check out the place. This was a bit discouraging as they had watched one of my dogs since he was a puppy. The way this place works is you bring your dog in for a "free" evaluation day. Both of my dogs were evaluated as being "fine/got along well, etc. etc." with the other dogs... What really bothered me about this place is that I felt I really wasn't able to "check out" the place. The place consists of 2 levels - the first floor is where all the dogs are housed during the day - nobody is allowed past the door that leads to the huge room where all the dogs are kept- The upstairs is used for housing as well. Although I was never really sure when that section was used. I really started to question taking my dogs there (specifically my baby bear Benji) as he came home with some sort of cuts/scrapes/hair missing one day. When I asked the girls what happened, they never responded. Nor did they apologize. It was like they didn't even hear what I said and were blind to the "marks" on my baby. Another time when I went on vacation, I put my dog with them for a few days. When I picked him up, his eye looked all red and irritated (like he had been in a fight) - When I asked them what happened to his eye, once again, no response, no apology no nothing. Meanwhile, my dog is traumatized for at least 24 hrs after leaving this place and I had to take care of his eye for about a week until it got better. I think what bothered me the most is that I had taken one of my dogs (Benji) there for quite some time. When I brought him back as an adult (they watched him through his puppy stages to about 8 months old) they didn't even remember him, nor did they remember me. For all of the business I gave them (my baby was there all day every day 5 days a week) this was really the straw that broke the camels back in my opinion. read more

I have used Happy Tails for few years now. I was happy with the service until my dog had stayed over the weekend (3 nights), after I brought my dog home I discovered puncture wound behind his ear that's covered in pus... The injury healed without major complication but it's really frustrating to find such injury on my dog. The wound was not hard to find since fur surrounding it was crusty from all the drainage (my dog had a bath before I picked him up) I understand there is always possibility of dog fights in environment like dog day care but I can't feel comfortable if I now feel the dogs are not properly monitored if you can't even let me know that my dog was bit. My dog is very mellow and in his senior years so I need to find somewhere else where I can trust to provide my dog with safe place to stay read more

Late post- wasn't initially going to comment about this experience but felt like I needed to hopefully make someone at this establishment aware and lookout for signs. Brought my maltipoo on a Saturday for a one-nite stay and it didn't seem like the same friendly, caring staff from previous stays. I felt this way with the staff that received her but especially when I picked her up. The person when I picked her up from her overnite stay seemed unsure or caught of guard when I asked if she ate nor did he show any concern, regardless. (She is a finicky eater unless she gets partial human food which I did not leave for her.) Very disappointing! read more

Our English Bulldog loves staying here when we have to go on trips. He jumps out of the car and runs for the entrance. After a week he is exhausted and a little grumpy when we pick him up but we think it's due to him having so much fun with the other dogs. Christina and her family run a wonderful shop at Happy Tails! Sato had a little vacation with them for a week while mom and dad went on their own vacation. We were really concerned about where to board him when our usual sitter had to cancel on us with short notice. We brought Sato in for his evaluation day (which was FREE! Who does that!?) and it was mutual love on both ends! He spent about a week with them, and was very well loved and taken care of. They were accommodating with his meds and keeping a watchful eye on him since he was recovering from leg surgery for a torn ligament. Christina was great on keeping us posted on how he was doing via email and messages. We felt at ease knowing he was in good hands. He came home fresh and clean with nails trimmed and a wagging tail! We bring our dog here occasionally when we can't watch her during the day due to work schedules. The staff is always friendly and they remember our dog's name even though we don't have regularly scheduled days with them. No appointment needed for daycare, and they even have a half day option if you don't need more than 6 hours of care for your dog. They keep the dogs separated based on size and energy level, the dogs are free to run and play with the other dogs in their group. My little dog comes home happy and tired, which makes us happy! We haven't used the overnight care yet, but we expect to in the future. **UPDATE* We've been using them for almost 2 years now and still love them! I think my dog is happier with them than at home. They also offer grooming and we've been happy with that too (just bath and nail trim is all we do, we don't shave our dog so can't speak to that). I always feel better leaving our baby with Happy Tails when we go out of town, her home away from home! They have discount daycare packages too if you buy in bulk you save a lot! read more

We've been coming here for a little over 6 months now and my love of this place has been dwindling. It seems that when anything happens with your dog here, like another reviewer said, there is no explanation and not even any kind of apology either. When I first started bringing my dog here, another dog owner that I met said they used to bring their dog but had a feeling there was a lot of fighting amongst the dogs and stopped going there. I am starting to get the same feeling. My dog has come back home with some not-so-pretty scratches a few times now. I don't know if they are playing dumb when you ask what happened or if they really don't know. In my opinion, it's hard to miss a dog fight but then again I don't work with dogs full time. I think I'll start looking into other day cares and boarding facilities but one thing that Happy Tails really has going for them is their flexibility so it's hard to leave. read more
