When you say the name Boomer to most of the employees at K9 Loft in Sherman Oaks, they immediately know the name and know the dog. My dog. He's a bit much. Anxiety, traumatized from past abuse, typical adoption case. He's also my first dog and in becoming a dog owner four years ago, I learned all that goes into taking care of one. One main issue is he's got long hair (specifically his tail) and the B.O. of a sailor lost at sea. The first place I took him for grooming was rough. The woman I handed him to had this harsh, cold demeanor and the whole place had a tense vibe about it. My dog is already a stress ball and this didn't help. I learned about K9 Loft on a whim -- I drove by it. Place looked cool. Spacious. And moreover, the employees I spoke to were rather welcoming, nice and knowledgable. I set him for an appointment to get bathed and groomed with a woman named Vickie and I will now only take him to her. I don't know exactly what it is about her energy but Boomer seems to be more relaxed around her. For that reason alone, I bring him here. It also helps I pick him up smelling nice and looking good. If only that nice smell lasted more than a week, but a dog's a dog. :) read more

Brought my dog for a wash and upon picking her up, was told they filed too much on a nail and she was bleeding and gave me a topical spray. I was a little upset but mistakes happen she smelled good.. later that day my roommate noticed the inside of her ears were FILTHY. not a great first impression. It isn't clear on your website that the deposit of $25.00 for non anesthesia dental is non refundable. I was told if they can't clean the dogs teeth for any reason the money is refunded. I lost one dog under anesthesia and I won't do it again unless it's life or death . The people are very nice but that's where it stops. I was there less than 5 minutes and 25.00 gone. I have been bringing my dog Shiloh for grooming and day care here for almost 7 years. Priscilla is my dogs groomer and does an excellent job with her. My dog is very furry and sheds a lot. She is so patient and detailed with her grooming and even puts a sweet little bow in her fur every time . She gets all of her knots out and really brushes her thoroughly. I will only let Priscilla groom her because my dog really trusts her and is happy you see her when I bring her in. I highly recommend her for all your grooming needs. read more

I brought my dog here some time ago, and I'm writing this review now because a friend had a similar experience recently. I brought my dachshund to K9 to be boarded for 5 days while i was out of town. They advertise supervision and webcams in the playrooms, and that safety is their #1 priority. However, every time i checked on the webcams for the small dog play area, there were bigger dogs than mine constantly jumping on him and jumping him in the corner. Not an employee or supervisor in sight to stop it or intervene. I got a few calls after the first day that my dog wasn't eating, and they suggested maybe trying their wet food and I agreed. I thought it was because my dog was in a new environment and felt nervous, but i quickly found out it was because of the humping. I called several times every day asking them to please monitor their dogs, because mine was being humped constantly, and they never took him out of the room until i was almost crying watching my dog shake in the corner. My dog loves playing with other dogs and this was unlike him. On day four i flew home early to pick up my dog. He was so thin. No one looked at me as i walked away with him or apologized for anything that happened. I took my dog to the vet, and found out that he had lost THREE POUNDS over 4 days, was severely dehydrated, and had his paw bitten and was starting to become infected since it wasn't immediately addressed. I'm still livid over the entire experience, the lack of any kind of supervision over the dogs, and the negligence of even looking out to see if anything was wrong. I was pretty hooked onto those cameras after the first day and only saw another human being in the playroom twice to fix a play structure. I'm absolutely disgusted this happened. There were smaller dogs than mine that got roughed up or humped as well over that time and i sincerely hope those dog owners took action as well. read more

I have been going here for a few years and noticed over time they would care less and less about the technique and care of their grooming treatments. I just left k9 loft in sherman oaks and noticed my pup was cut on both ears. He kept shaking which led to more bleeding. I am super upset that this was not mentioned when I picked him up as I am sure he cried when the groomer nicked him. I need to find a new place to get my pup groomed. I asked Ashley the manager there what they could help with the situation and nothing. She wasn't compassionate about the situation at all. Love this place and the idea of dropping my dog off for a few hours to a day or few days. The only problem that I keep having is my dog comes back with freezing paws. The cameras are lovely to check in and I see he never lays down the whole time he is there. The floor is freezing for him. Would love a solution so I would send him here more often. read more

MOST of the staff are wonderful. One of the employees shoved my dog out of her way because he was blocking her cell phone (I saw this on the webcam). Today, this same employee was ignoring the dogs with her back turned to them talking to another employee, she chose to squirt my dog with water instead of gently breaking up some "ruff" housing (Also witnessed on webcam). Anyway, she is the reason I chose to find another daycare. If you're looking for a FULL staff of caring people, this is not the place. read more

We've been coming here for years and have always been happy. Daycare, boarding and grooming - we love everything they do. Today was a grooming appointment for Mochi. We were greeted by friendly and happy staff, who made sure they were clear on what we wanted. They called when he was ready and the check out process was friendly and easy. The facility at K9 is very clean with lots of natural light. It even smells pretty decent! I was able to watch the big dogs in their room through the glass, looking happy and calm. I could also see the little dogs on the tv monitor. That's a feature we love when we're away - getting a glimpse of our dog on the camera through the website. He always looks happy. I have been bringing my dogs to K9 loft for a few years. Today I had a very negative experience there. I called to see if there was a groomer available to give my dog a flea bath (just wash and dry, not a full groom) and was told there was. She was dropped off for a bath with Patricia at 9am (first grooming appointment of the day). I called to check in at 11:30 and was told they needed another hour to finish her and that she was still drying. When I asked why they needed 3.5 hours for just a wash and dry, I was told that the flea shampoo has to stay on for a bit and that she doesn't like to be hand-dried so she is in the crate with the blower. Of my 3 dogs, this is the one I groom at home 99% of the time b/c she's easy and stands very still for me. I felt uneasy having her there for so long, probably scared in the noisy drying crate so I decided to pick her up wet and finish her at home. When I arrived, my dog was brought out and she was completely dry. I saw that the groomer who was supposed to by working on my dog was just finishing up another dog. I was charged $76 for an incomplete groom. I asked for a discount, considering only part of the job was done, but was not given any discount. I have known for a while that there are multiple dogs worked on at once and today confirmed that fact for me. My issues are: 1.Why was I told my dog was wet when she was actually dry and just sitting in the drying crate? 2.Why should it take 3.5 hours for a wash and dry on a dog who's hair is 1/2 inch long? 3.If there wasn't time for my dog today I would have appreciated being told rather than squeezing in my dog and having her wait in a crate while other dogs were being groomed. DENTAL CLEANING REVIEW: My dog is about 8lbs and very petite. When her vet recommended putting her under to do a cleaning, I was really concerned for her safety. I was so happy to find a non-anesthesia dental clinic at k9 loft! Registration is easy. You book it on their website and pay a $25 deposit. It's fully refundable if your dog doesn't qualify for the cleaning. The Sherman Oaks location is on a busy street, but there's street parking and a Whole Foods next door where you can wait. The cleaning takes about 30 minutes. When you first arrive, they take your dog to the back and put them in a kennel. My dog was wailing because she has severe separation anxiety. The staff were so nice even though her bark is pretty piercing... sorry to everyone's ears that day :( When they finished, her teeth looked fabulous and so clean! They gave us a detailed report on her teeth and recommended a return in 6 months. We'll be sure to return :) read more

I brought my dog here for grooming and I could not be more unhappy with the results. I said I wanted a light trim on her coat so that her hair would not get tangled and maintained it's beautiful shape. Please note that my dog's hair was not tangled at all!!! I get my dog bathed everyday two weeks and groomed about every 2 months. I especially told the groomer that I did not want my dog looking like a "rat" and showed photos of how I wanted her to look like. Also, they kept my dog for 5 hrs in their facility in a cage and by the time she got home, my dog ran to the water bowl and drank water non stop for a good 30 seconds because she was so thirsty. I will not be taking my dog ever back here. See the photos before and after she got groomed. After this review was posted, I received a call from Yan, the store manager who apologized and refunded the money paid for the grooming and also gave me a credit in case I would like to try them again.
