Took the kids here for a little adventure during inclement weather. They had a blast. First things first. I recommend doing the waiver online. You'll have to sign again at the register, but it will save you a bunch of time when you arrive. Ok...for our experience. It can feel a little overwhelming when you first arrive if you haven't been there before. Having people walk in, with their own helmets, acting like they own the place will have anyone unsure where they should go or do when they first arrive. The staff make it feel very welcoming and friendly. After I finished check-in, I felt like the people with their own helmet. Tyrez helped me at check-in. He was patient, professional and friendly. When I say patient, I mean PATIENT! I had four kids with me and when it came to head covers alone, he got everyone what they needed even though I had to prompt the kids multiple times to come to a decision. We got there, but it was rough and Tyrez was amazing throughout! He even explained everything to me so that I wouldn't be caught off guard by anything and wouldn't end up frustrated...or at least that is how it felt. Next, know this. When they are running adult races, it's loud in the track area. Because I work safety, I have my watch set to alarm me when the sound exceeds the OSHA permissible exposure limit. It went off a lot. So, I measured the sound. It can get above 100 decibels. That's loud. Not as loud as a rock concert or fire truck siren, but it will make it difficult to have a conversation. You may want to consider ear plugs...or ear buds with noise canceling. The races are run very efficiently and they alternate between youth and adult groups. One safety feature the do great is that they are never on the track, together, at the same time. Safety seemed like it was well managed. When impacts happen, they throttle down the carts, to ensure everything is safe. One note though...and I see this as a huge positive...they let you RACE! Yes, they pay attention and focus on safety, but they don't scold or stop because of a little inadvertent contact. I was truly impressed by the balance they maintain there. In my group of four, two were a little scared and didn't race all the races we purchased (I bought the SpeedPass for each and it seems like a really good package for first timers), but they were amazing at helping me re-assign them to the others in our group. Luis helped me there and again, he was patient with me and helped ensure we got everything transferred correctly. He also answered all 5,000 of my questions throughout our visit. No, not really 5,000, but there were a lot. He was amazing! If I had any criticism at all, it would be for the game area. Many of their games weren't working because of a network error. It was disappointing for me, but it hit the kids hard. They should have someone dedicated to that area as it was never empty while we were there. I would imagine that having all working correctly would result in increased revenue. Overall, we had an amazing adventure there today and Tyrez and Luis were part of the reason why. Their track team was the other part...I just wasn't able to get their names. If you're looking for a new adventure, this is an amazing way to spend a Saturday!!! read more

I wasn't able to ride the kart because of a major problem I noticed: the wait time. The wait time is terrible, and they need to do something about it. Whatever they are doing now, they need to stop. And do something new It was my first time here. We arrived at 4:43, and when we got there the place was almost completely empty. We bought two adult races and one junior race, totaling $193, which I don't think is worth it at all. The cashier told us the junior race would be about a one-hour wait and the adult race would be about a 30-40 minute wait. They also said we would ride before the next junior race and that they would call our names. We waited about 50 minutes, and somehow 3-4 races finished, with people being called in before us even though they arrived after us. When they called the adult racers, a family who had been in front of us when we bought the races got called, but we didn't. After that race ended, the junior racers were called, but our junior racer wasn't included. That's when we realized we were supposed to be in the previous race, according to what the cashier had told us. We asked how much longer it would be, and they said another 20 minutes. We waited again--this time about 40 minutes--and still not a single one of our names was called. We asked yet again how much longer it would be, and the employee said he honestly didn't know and that people sometimes wait up to 8 hours, which I find very hard to believe. At that point, we were fed up and asked for a refund and left. In my opinion, waiting over 2 hours for maybe a 30-minute experience is not worth it. One employee even completely ignored me when I asked about the wait time--he looked at me and then ignored me. There is also nothing to do while waiting. You could play the crappy arcade games and that will only keep you entertained for 20-30 minutes, plus they cost an extra $15 or more. The track also seemed small, and the food is expensive for low-quality frozen food. read more

K1 Speed has electric gokarts that go 35mph+ for Adult Karts and Junior Karts that are 20mph+ for some serious gokarting. Learn the racing line ahead of time and put the pedal to the metal. We came here early on New Years and had a great racing experience. No line, just a few racers and a relaxed check in. The karts and track were well maintained. If you head here later in the day, it gets super crowded and checkin will take a long time. Lastly, whatever you do, do NOT order food or arcades. The food is bad, like reheating a frozen chicken tender and burning it kind of bad. Took 2 hours to get burnt chicken tenders, lol. The arcades are very limited, and several were not functioning, so the game would take your money but not let you play. Talking to management took awhile to get it right, and to their credit, they handled it well. Overall, excellent racing experience with friendly and helpful staff. Go early, patience is a virtue and have a great time. read more

I'm no stranger to karting and not a stranger to K1 as well, as I've been to several locations across California. This K1 Speed is quite close to the city as well as SFO, so it should be a popular destination for teambuilding events for SF's companies. We came on a Wednesday evening for a 2 race for $50 Wednesday deal. We thought we would have to wait a while but we got scheduled for a race within 15 minutes. The race itself was alright, probably 10 karts on the grid so a bit of traffic but not many stoppages and I felt the karts ran pretty well compared to other K1 locations. I recently came here for a birthday party, and this place is a hectic mess with questionable (nonexistent) safety protocols! We were told to arrive early to attend the safety training, but there was none. Most of us in the group including myself have never been go karting before, so we were very confused about everything. Turns out I didn't even wear my helmet correctly until my last race! I also saw multiple crashes and injuries during my visit. After my races, my neck was in pain for several days! There's only one track that you can race, so I was honestly pretty bored of it by my third and final race. The equipment was dirty, and some of the go karts were also in bad condition. Since I was here for a birthday party, we were told we would get a private room. But turns out you don't get access to a room until after your races, which was inconvenient because we had no idea where to put our belongings/supplies. The private rooms are also fully booked to the point that you likely will wait quite a bit after your races before being allowed in and then will get forced out pretty quickly as well. Overall, I had fun catching up with friends here but wouldn't come back just for the go karting. read more

Our home is clean and has no bug issues. But after visiting K1, not only do we get bitten, it feels like we bring bugs back home with us. That forces us to do deep cleaning and disinfection every time, which is extremely frustrating and time-consuming. I strongly suspect the bugs are coming from the sofas in the waiting area. This is not just inconvenient - it is a public health risk. In an environment like this, families could carry bugs back to their homes, and children might then bring them to schools, causing further spread and infestation. Families come here to enjoy racing, not to worry about bug bites and infestations. The waiting is compounded by the arcade area where half of the machines are broken and a bar/restaurant area with no one staffing the counter. The staff was nowhere to be found most of the time, and when our party would ask when our race was, "10 more minutes" was always the answer. We asked for a refund for the 2nd race we did not use and were told that there was no manager available to process a refund and to call the corporate office. No manager on duty on a weekend? We had our son's 8 year old birthday here on 4/4. Him and his friends had a great time. They were prepared for our party and great when the kids were racing. Everyone ran to a crash site and showed concern. The final price turned out to be more than what was originally said but the party went great so I have no complaints. This place is so fun if you like racing. It's $30/race if I'm recalling correctly. They also have "membership rates" which makes each race cheaper in the long run for more races. The track isn't too long, but still very fun. This place has some arcade games inside & a pool table even karaoke machine. They also have a small restaurant where you can order food. read more

An are to improve would be their food/drink/eating area can get messy with some trash strewn about or full. The tables could use a wipe down too. I couldn't hear a thing when we were giving us the instructions. I just read the sign with flags. Be ready to share the track either other people. There were a few people thinking this was a real F1 race being very aggressive trying to pass others. I feel I couldn't really enjoy it for being worried to crash with them. No lockers. Came on a Monday when they opened and there was no wait. It was a cool experience but overall I thought it was overpriced. We paid about $70 each for 2 races, the registration (about $8 and lasts a year), and a T-shirt (you can also choose a baseball cap or a $10 arcade card). The go-karts go pretty fast and each race lasts 7-10 min, which is 6-12 laps around the track. Nice to do once but probably won't be back. read more

Booked walk-in races for my son and his best friend to celebrate his 15th birthday. I booked the package with two races, the t-shirt and drivers license. I added on the helmet camera for both kids, both races. Unfortunately, they didn't get the camera on their first race. They were very disappointed. The guy at the front desk, while friendly, said it was his mistake, and they could have the camera for their second. But that's not what I paid the additional $24 for. There was nothing he could do about it, other than put a note in their accounts about free use of a camera next visit. Then I was told one only had one race. I showed them my receipt for two races each. Maybe it was an off day? I doubt we will come back. We arrived at 12pm and we're told they couldn't race until 2:30. They thankfully called them to the track at 1:40. It was so not worth the $171 and change that I paid. I don't recommend K1 Speed. The boys had fun, but it wasn't worth the money. read more

We booked a party here for my son's 14th birthday. We spent about $800 for 8 guests. We had such high hopes for event and am super disappointed with what we actually received. The food was totally gross. The highly processed sliders were loaded with mayonnaise and the chicken tenders were completely burned. Maybe this is why there wasn't anybody to assist in the party room. INobody even came to check on us, not even one time. I had to go back to the front counter multiple times, to get the items we purchased in the party package. First for the arcade cards and then for the drink tickets. Nothing was organized. I paid for everything in advance and included a tip, which I totally regret doing. We had to go out to eat after we left because everyone was hungry. Save yourself a ton of money, embarrassment, and frustration and just come for the GoCart Racing. The party is a total waste of time and money. The GoCart racing is super fun and the young people who work there are polite and try to be helpful. This is why I gave 2 stars. read more

We came for a corporate event and it honestly was a pretty decent experience. There were couple groups racing along side us and the workers were able to manage us to race almost one after the other. The downside is that many of the machines and table top games were broken. On top of that, we wanted a print out of the race history but the print is broken. The first two times they said we would be waiting for over 2 hours at least, and I've been here many many times before and I know that when they say 2 hours they really mean longer than that. I've had to wait over 4 hours just to get 1 race one time. So anyways, we came to K1 earlier tonight around half an hour before their supposed closing time of 10 pm, thinking we could finally race without having to wait for several hours. So we get there, and they tell us their closed. Meanwhile, there's still people racing on the track, and the doors are wide open, no indication they are closed whatsoever. The staff just wanted to leave early, and couldn't be bothered to run one more 10 minute race. I miss when the staff there actually cared about customers. read more

Avoid this place. I started taking my kid there 6 years ago, and tolerated long waits, no food, getting seriously bumped by punks during races. Just tried 3 times in a week to get ONE race in with the kid. Twice I called ahead, told the wait was 30 mins, showed up and magically it turned into 2.5 hrs. 3rd attempt...we got there at 9:30. No line , doors open, told we couldn't race. WTF???? The place closes at 10:00. There were a few kids racing, and still the jerk said no more races. Never again will I waste our time at K1. Found out there are dozens of lawsuits against the place, including personal injury. Avoid this place...there are better go-cart places in the Bay Area. read more

I got the usual "Contact head office" and like last time.. We were here for a kid's birthday party. During the race my son was often bumped by other kids, many of those times were intentional. However, the staff did not do anything about this even though the other racer's behavior was clearly unsafe. I expect for them to stop the race and warn those racing unsafely and/or eject them. They finally stopped the race when my son was hit hard enough that his head was hurt and he needed to be led off the course crying and hyper ventilating. We felt unsafe and expected the staff to do more to ensure safety. read more

I went there with my team for an offsite and we had blast. The instructors and staff there was really nice and organized the races in a fun way. They also have a pool table and gaming arena. We couldn't have asked for more from this place. read more

WHEN: Thursday @2pm It was a team outing of 12 in early December on a weekday afternoon when the place wasn't too busy. There was plenty of free parking in their lot. Before arriving you should have already signed a waiver form (to save time) and sign in with an account so they know who you are to print out your driving results after. Here are the prices: 1 Lap - $25.95 2 Laps - $46.95 3 Laps - $59.95 We signed up for 3 laps. Each person is given a helmet liner that makes you look like a ninja--brand new you can take home after. You sign another doc upon receiving and you wait until they call your group to gear up (helmet) and assign you your kart. I'm 4'11" which barely passed the adult height min requirement (4'10") so I was able to shameless request a booster seat. Damon was super helpful and progressional who made me feel super safe with the seat belt. It was nice to have a full track with just your co-workers even, and the race seemed to have lasted about 10 minutes. After that they give you a 10 min break (depends on how many groups are racing after you), and we start round 2 of racing. And again for the 3rd lap. In between rounds they print out your stats which seemed pretty cool! There was a couple of times where the race had to slow down and stop if a kart wasn't functioning well (not going fast as it should). I had fun the first round, but after the second I was done. It just wasn't my thing, so I skipped the 3rd and just hung out in the commons area where there is food for purchase. After that they actually had trophies for our group who came in first, second and third. All in all I felt it was a nice outing with co workers I have never seen before due to the pandemic. Everyone was required to wear a mask except when you have your helmet and helmet liner on. I highly recommend coming on a weekday when it's less busy. read more

This place is going to run out of business soon. I can't believe they only have 1 person working at the register on a Saturday afternoon, taking 15-20 minutes with each customer. We were 3rd in line but it was over 30 minutes of waiting in line, just to be told the next available race is a 1.5 - 3 hour wait. Wtf?? Put a sign out or something with the projected wait times! Apparently , it took so long for us because the customers in front were told the same thing and spent time arguing and complaining about it, they got free future rides but the poor kids, who had been waiting almost 30 min in line, couldn't race today. We spared the people behind us in line a longer wait, as everyone was getting irritated that there was only one guy working and taking forever, just to turn people away. They lost a lot of business today. Won't be back. There's other better-run gokarting places in the bay. read more

SF location IS A SCAM! Make sure you check your membership and game credit before booking with this location. Here is what happened with me: June: I bought my membership at the Santa Clara location and had 2 games in my account. Sept: Attended a corporate work event at the SF location where my employer purchased games Nov: I try using my 2 game credit at the Santa Clara location and they say the SF location used your personal credit at the corporate event and only they can refund it back. Since Nov I've been trying to reach out to the SF location, left multiple VM's, reached out multiple times from the contact us page, emailed Denilson Santamaria with the issue since he was our corporate POC but no response. Peter is the best! We came a couple weeks back during the bad storm and couldn't finish our laps cus the power went out. We had 5 pending laps and when we came back, we only had 4 listed in the system. He fought for us to get our 5 laps. He was very nice!
