Fun fun day with the boys at K-1 Austin!! We arrived when they opened and got registered on the computers. There is a one time fee of 8.50 and then we did the 2 race package. It was 69$ I think. They had a deal for 79 for 2 races with 20$ game play and an order of strips or burger but we had already eaten. The gentleman then did a little safety orientation and we got helmets and were off to our carts. The race was 12 laps and we had a blast. It's more tiring than you think and we were all sweating a little but man was it fun. The carts set for adults go about 40-45mph on the straight away which feels super fast. The second race was even more fun with other riders. You are NOT allowed to bump others or your kicked out. The safety rules are easy to follow and made sense. K1 Speed in Austin was a miss for me. My daughter loved the racing, so I'll give them that. If you're a kid or teenager focused on getting in the kart and having fun, you may have a completely different experience. But for me, no AC in the middle of a Texas summer is insane. The place feels like a closed-off bunker with barely any airflow, and once you've been standing around in there for a while, it becomes miserable. I'm not even talking about "a little warm." I mean genuinely uncomfortable to the point where it takes away from the experience. If I'm paying that much for indoor entertainment, I should not feel like I'm being slow-cooked while I wait. The racing itself may be fun, and clearly my daughter enjoyed it, but I personally wouldn't spend my money here again during the summer unless they fix the cooling situation. read more

I asked if I had to buy two right then because it was so hot I didn't know if we would stay for three and was told we didn't have to buy two right then and could come back and buy one more and get the next one free. My daughter wanted more races so I went to buy another one for three. However the person behind the counter said I needed to buy the two up front . Mostly teenagers to early twenty's that work there and aren't very helpful. It's an expensive activity for poor facilities and service. And one last thing.....employees running the track by themselves while paying customers are waiting in that hot building.....not cool. read more

I had fun here, but it was dreadfully hot, and I am usually pretty good at withstanding heat. I asked if the AC was broken thinking that maybe it had just broken down that day. Turns out that it has been broken for THREE YEARS. These races are pretty pricey, and they make you pay for an annual membership as well, so it's kind of crazy that they don't have a working AC in Texas. I asked if there were fans, and they literally have one fan. We waited an hour for a ten minute race. It was fun, and I can really see the appeal for teenage boys to flock here, which was the major demographic I saw. One of the employees was really rude when I didn't have my feet in the right place while he was doing the safety check. He could've just told me what to do politely, but he was so disrespectful for no reason. My car wasn't even turned on yet. read more

OMG what a disappointment. Go to COTA instead of wasting your time here. 2h wait time, shitty front desk gals with zero customer service skills and - what's worse - no interest in helping you. Broken arcades, BS fees (mandatory "annual membership fee" on top of race fee), overpriced food, broken HVAC (it's been broken for 2y we're told...). Employees all (besides Zoe, who was awesome) looked like they didn't wanna be there. The guy who was supposed to check racers for safety wouldn't check my kid's seatbelt until I asked him to. And thank God I did cause my 6yo had it wrong. Racing SUCKED here; the race was interrupted every single lap due to one thing or another. The second you got a taste of a little speed they force your car to slow down because someone messed up on the other side of the track. It was infuriating. Kudos to Zoe on the racetrack who was a delight and actually helpful, and the mgr that helped us with one of the broken arcades. The front desk girls were awful. read more

Heres a real review from k1 in austin google since they refuse to fix their a/c : At this point, this is no longer a temporary issue--it is a failure to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for both customers and staff. These conditions feel unsanitary and unacceptable for a business that continues to operate and collect revenue while apparently making little effort to resolve a major facility problem. If the franchise lacks the resources to repair the air conditioning system, or simply isn't willing to invest in fixing it, then management should seriously reconsider whether this location should remain open until the issue is addressed. Eight months is more than enough time to solve an HVAC problem. The lack of urgency shown by management is disappointing and reflects poorly on both this location and the K1 Speed brand as a whole. Shame on the franchise for allowing customers and employees to continue dealing with these conditions. read more

THEY DO NOT HAVE WORKING AC. And the cars break A LOT. I spent almost $1000 to have a birthday party here and the sales person, Isela, did not disclose the broken AC when I booked with her. It was 85° INSIDE their building (picture attached) with zero air flow or any real effort to bring down the temps with fans running, etc. And that was just the beginning of the problems. Every water fountain was broken in the facility which means it was not only 85+ in there, but you couldn't access water without paying for it. But they were understaffed and also didn't have anyone at the concessions stand so that we could buy said overpriced water. No toilet paper in the bathrooms No staff actually reffed or did flags for our first race of the day so even when there was problems/stops, it wasn't communicated to riders, you just had your cart suddenly slowed and you didn't know what was actually going on. On our "Grand Prix" race we had so many breakdowns that some people only completed half or less of the 12 laps we were doing. Only one person even broke double digits because the cars would break, and the staff wouldn't actually stop the race so it wasted all of our actual race time. I've never seen so many cars break down at one place at one time and I've been to K1 and COTA carting multiple times. It's clear they are not doing upkeep on their cars and then have teenagers running the races all day doing quick fixes or simply pulling out the broken cars. Everything about our experience here has been extremely disappointing and when I complained, mostly about the AC, I was met with many kind words and exactly zero action. I have had to follow up with them multiple times in the 3 weeks since our event -- the manager guaranteed me a solution would be easy to reach and I would get at least a partial refund -- and I have gotten literally nothing from them communication wise, much less monetarily. I will be filing a chargeback with my credit card. DO NOT HOST AN EVENT HERE, IT IS A WASTE OF YOUR MONEY. Just go to COTA carting to get an actual premium carting experience that is 100% worth what you pay. If I could remember the managers name I would love to include it but I don't -- just know he will sweet talk you with all the right words and will take absolutely no action. He said he would send me his email address and he never even did that. Just egregious levels of bad communication from a business who should care about their customer's experience. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. The AC wasn't working, and after speaking to staff, it apparently hasn't been working for sometime. While we were waiting for our time to race (we were told it would be 15-20 minutes, but it ended up being closer to an hour) the electricity to the arcade area went out and the computer for the concessions went out. So, we were unable to play games or order drinks. Then, during the actual race, my cart lost power 3-4 times. For the price you're paying, management should be able to fix the problems with the facility. I would not recommend this business! I'm giving it one star because I can't give it negative. read more

A host or "guide" for a party needs to be implemented without a doubt for the price. We had my son's 11th birthday party here this past Saturday and it was chaos. The Good: facility was, clean and the party room was perfect for the crowd of 20 people that we had . The employees working there were all extremely nice and seemed to have a good grasp on how each of their sections were running. The Bad: I didn't really know what to do. Yes, the employees give you the rundown of the schedule saying that a race would start in about 15-20 min; however, wrangling kids into a group when they're running from one end of the bldg. to the other playing in the arcade, pool tables, bathroom, etc. is pretty tiresome on your own, especially when you're just trying to make memories. At a minimum, there should be one person assigned making announcements over the intercom for so-and-so's party to please make sure you've registered and signed in; make your way to the party room for food; make your way to the track for your fitting, for your race, etc. The entire time I was there, I'd have to figure out what to do with the kids in the meantime before a race. A $10 game card lasts about 15 min. I was required to make sure everyone signed in, got a hood, game card and drink ticket. And because I was with my own kids, (one much younger) I was not around waiting for all of the guests to show up and then explain what was next. The 1st race happened and we were expecting the food to be ready by the time we got back to the party room. Nothing there so I had to go ask after we were in the room for about 10 minutes. The food (3 pizzas and chicken tender platter) ended up being served 5 minutes before our 2nd race. Kids were starving and running everywhere and finally all get to the track again. The food was cold by the time we got back & one pizza burned; no plates, napkins, utensils, or dipping sauces were given. Lastly, IT WAS HOT minus the party room. The AC problem was told to me prior to booking nearly a month in advance, but I, and the employee that booked me over the phone figured in that timeframe it would be repaired. A 5-10% off should have absolutely been given. Overall, the kids had fun. The mom did not. If you book a party here, just be prepared in advance for it to be similar to a birthday party at a park. read more

Would leave a 0 star if I could because we couldn't get in at all. Tried calling this place about racing and waited over 10 minutes on hold before giving up. The automated message says they are open 7 days a week, including walk-ins, but when we tried to go we were unable because of league night. This would've been helpful information on the website or in the phone message so we didn't have to waste our time. The woman working basically said we won't get in at all. My son did a few races there today. He basically asked to stop which is not like him. His face was totally red and he started walking weird. Almost fainted. We were all way too hot and no AC in the place. Just doors wide open with like 2 fans running which seemed to just bring the hotter air from outside inside. Got a couple more waters to cool us all off. Asked the employee if its always this hot and they said the AC been broke for awhile, no idea when the manager is going to get it fixed. Well until it does get fixed we're not coming back and letting all our friends know not to go racing there anymore. Take care of your customers and your employees. This place needs help all over the place! 1. The racing. We showed up without a reservation and were told the wait would be about 30 mins, totally fine! However, A HOUR LATER, when we checked with the manager, we were told it would be ANOTHER 40 Mins!!!! How on earth is your estimating THAT FAR OFF!?!? 2. The arcade. We have 4 cards with 5-20 credits on them for a total of 55 credits. I asked the front desk if they could "Marry" the cards together but she just looked at me and said "no!" And walked away to talk to another co-worker. What a waste of money and so rude! Additionally the sign, at the front says arcade games are 20-40 credits each. There isn't a single game under 30 credits so even the 20 credit card is useless! 3. Birthday parties. We attended a birthday party here, a couple weeks ago, and it was a complete mess. The host was so frustrated bc there wasn't an assigned party host to help her and there was too much downtime so the kids became bored. She also said she asked for a knife, to cut the cake, and she was told "I can't give you a knife with all these kids around". WHAT?!?! She's a 45 year old woman; I think she can be responsible with a knife. We will not be back and we will probably not attend any more birthday parties here. Do not waste your time at this facility. On our first visit, we signed in and were told the wait was over two hours, despite the place looking empty. The online system is outdated--you can only purchase a race, with no way to select a time slot or register in advance. Then on the track, the experience looks just as frustrating. Staff repeatedly slowed down or stopped all karts for even minor issues, ruining the flow and competitiveness of the race. By contrast, COTA Karting offers advance scheduling and runs races more smoothly without constant interruptions. This location needs serious improvements in management and operations before it can provide a worthwhile experience. read more

So, we opted to just play some games, they didn't have too many options but basketball, air hockey, a few racing games did the trick. They are getting one star for the actual racing experience (15 minutes). We got there at 1pm and were quoted 4 hours(since it is first come first serve). Okay, fine. The guy at the front desk had us PAY and return in 3 hours to check back in and wait to get called. We return 3 hours later on the dot and we are not on the list and they have no trace of us on the wait. Get quoted another 2 hours. LUCKILY we had the receipt still to prove our time and payment. Then the guy at the front desk acted like he did us a favor by "bumping us up the list"???? Okay...? We sat around more and waited to be called. We ordered non-alcoholic Beverages and beers from the bar, sides in a bottle were room temperature and they had no ice?? While waiting we thought since we were there already we might as well as some races. Well we couldn't race again for another two hours. Also will throw in while checking in the front desk guy got in a "disagreement" over the walkie talkie with another employee. And another employee distributed my check in to inform the front desk that his shift was done and curious if he needed anything else to do. We are all service industry and patient people but this was a crazy interaction for me to observe. Mind you, there were maybe 15 other people in the building...where were all the people??? Maybe have a que available so people waiting can see where there are? Luckily the go carts worked and my guests enjoyed the actual carting because the service was horrible and they were almost inconvenienced to be there Since we enjoyed the race we would give the experience another try... read more

Spent so much for two races, and waited more than five hours. Got there at five waited till NINE at night just for one race... it was honestly kinda hot in there even racing I was dying of heat. Over all just took wayyy to long to get us to actually start the race, even people with out reservations that came in after us were going before everyone that had reservations or was there before them.. just don't recommend and not refund for waiting that long.... read more

We arrived at 5-5:30 and was told it would be a 2-2.5 hr wait which fine we did the arrive and drive so I expected a wait. We went to eat and came back. We were told multiple times 2-3 races and then it should be your turn. That was a lie. We ended up waiting a total of 5 hrs before our first race and were told we would race both of them back to back. Again that was a lie. After the first race we were told we would have to wait another 2-3 races.. ended up leaving without the second race. We are told the second unused race would be on our account when we came back another day..... if we come back we will see. Definitely need a reservation but eve those people were waiting well beyond their reservation time. Would not recommend at all. You will honestly ride more rides at Disney world than you will here!! Would not recommend. Definitely DO NOT buy your tickets online. When we got there we were told it would be about an hour from our first race, it was about 45 minutes. We were also told it would be about 20 minutes in between races. That did not happen. After our first race we were told it would be another 45 minutes. I thought ok that's not so bad. After about 45 minutes, I asked how much longer. That's when we were told it would be at least another 2 hours. The reason, a party showed up and they get priority and all the other races get pushed. I was told by one employee we can go to the front desk and ask for a refund. Well if you purchase online, they can't give you a refund. You have to contact the corporate office. Called the corporate office, and was told I have to send an email. I sent an email, then was told It was being sent to a regional manager. I waited two days reached back out and was basically told they can't do anything until the regional manager responds. We are on day three with no refund and Customer Service could care less. At the end of it all, we were basically there for 4 1/2 hours got to race one time, and I'm out $150. To make it worse, they slow down your kart to a crawl anytime someone spins or dos anything they don't like. So in reality, you don't even get a full race at speed. I highly recommend skip this place and go to The Circuit of America's go kart track. Called COTA Karts. read more

While down in Austin, i thought I'd give K1 Speed - Indoor Go Karts a try as I heard some raves about it from a couple of buddies of mine down there. The hype was indeed quite real, especially with the bundle deal of two races (24 laps as one race is equal to 12 laps). It was a blast racing with my party. Our first time here, signed in as "arrive and drive." At 2:00. She gets us signed up, takes our money and we keep waiting and ask where to go from there. She tells us oh , you can't drive til 5:00, we have a party going on. Why the heck would she not tell us that from the get go ? No manager available either to voice my concerns ... totally ridiculous and disappointed grandson . We have dinner plans at 5 so unfortunately cannot come back . Extremely Disappointing Experience with the Manager (Janaya) This was by far the worst experience I've had, all due to the manager, Janaya. When I asked if it was possible to receive a refund--given that the track was being repaired and there were six races ahead of ours--she responded rudely and unprofessionally. Lesson learned: always ask upfront whether refunds are available, rather than waiting to be told there's only a credit with no documentation or receipt provided. I later returned and spoke with a different employee, who was courteous and had no problem issuing a refund. In fact, he even encouraged me to file a formal complaint against the manager due to how she handled the situation. Frankly, management should seriously reconsider keeping someone with such poor customer service in that role. read more

Worse run k1 I've been to has no kids track so they wait hours never coming back don't bother

Came in early for Father's Day with my dad and my son. We each purchased the 3-race package. The experience was frustrating from the start due to how the races were structured. Juniors race separately from adults--which is fine--but the scheduling made it impossible to communicate with my son at any point. As soon as I finished my race, he was already in a kart ready to go. Then when he finished, I was already being called for my next race. There was no time between to talk, coach him, or even ask how his race went. If you're coming with your kid, don't expect to actually experience the event together in any meaningful way. On top of that, the racing itself felt rigged and sloppy. Multiple times during our races, someone would spin out or get stuck, which caused delays or complete stops for everyone. That completely kills your lap time--and your momentum. In one race, I think I only had 2 or 3 clean laps out of 12. And even then, I'm not convinced I actually got all 12 laps. We paid for 12; we should get 12, period. Worse, it seemed like our karts were being throttled--either slowed down mid-race or held back until others caught up. Both my dad and I noticed it, and it completely kills the competitive aspect. I'm a faster driver, but I was constantly stuck behind slower racers with no room to pass, and anytime I tried, they'd cut me off or cause a collision. In one case, I tried to pass a driver on the straightaway and he deliberately swerved to block me. He ended up spinning out on his own, and I got blamed for it. One of the staff pulled me over and warned I'd be kicked out if I "pitted anyone," which I didn't even do. After that, my kart was noticeably slower, like they dialed back the speed just to punish me. To be blunt, the whole setup feels like a joke. You're judged on lap times, but there's no way to stay consistent with all the slowdowns, crashes, and people blocking you. The system penalizes good drivers and rewards chaos. Between the throttled karts, the constant interruptions, the lack of communication with my son, and the uneven enforcement of rules, I have no reason to come back. Unless you go when the place is almost empty, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

Came here recently for a group event. I went through the main contact at the Irvine location who was the account manager somewhat. Wasn't too sure she wasn't at the actual location in Austin. Got the package and I believe 50% of the cost was paid up front. The rest would be at the facility. As we got here, we were the first group scheduled for 10am. I didn't know others would be here as a walk-in also so though we booked it at 10am, I was still in line until the staff finally noticed our group and pulled me to the side. Either way, a couple of walk-in's were racing first which lagged us a bit. We got our first race in after a while and put in our order for food. Too much mis-communication with the food orders. Ordered a couple of pizzas, wings and fries. I was hoping by the time our 2nd race was done, our food would be ready. Second race done and still no food. Took about 30 mins before our food showed up. Can't really blame the staff here. I had originally placed the order with our account manager and she told us that we would place our order there. Though I know the staff was trying, I think K1 needs to tighten up with their stuff. Definitely a great place to race with non-gas carts and machines that have auto detection to slow vehicles after a spin-out but group stuff and people walking in needs to be done a lot better. I'll need to check out the other locations to compare. read more

We planned a birthday party here in August in the middle of the day. No one told us the AC was out and had been out for a year. The local manager abd staff were great and very apologetic but the fact they book $1,000 parties and don't let you know there is no AC? There has been no AC for a year! That's part of what you are paying for. I contacted corporate with zero response. This is a poorly run company from the corporate standpoint. read more
