Walking in and looking at all of the decor and set up were reminiscent of Portillo's in Chicago but with a Texas spin. The order counter is still there but added a few self order kiosks. The pick up window is down from the order counter and you wait for your number to be called. The Chicago dog, Maxwell St. polish sausage and the Italian beef tasted exactly as I remembered: delicious, juicy meat, tasty sausage and dogs were all top notch. Being the only minority table in the restaurant at the time, the disparity in treatment was glaring and deeply unsettling. We felt rushed throughout the entire meal. Our food arrived at 12:10, and by 12:32, she had already dropped the check and was asking if we needed boxes. It felt like she couldn't wait to get us out of there. It's a shame that such high-quality food is being paired with such exclusionary service.
