I booked a lash lift/tint and brow lamination/tint on June 28 for my July 8 appointment and paid a $21 deposit to reserve my spot.
About an hour before my appointment, I received a call asking if I could come in early. I rearranged my work schedule, left early, and drove from Citrus Heights to Folsom to arrive at 4:30 PM--only to sit in the lobby until almost 5:00 because my technician hadn't even arrived yet. Apparently the only person expected to be early was me.
The appointment itself was chaotic. My technician had her 3 1/2-year-old son with her. William was an absolute sweetheart and none of this is his fault, but he behaved exactly like a normal toddler--shaking my chair, pulling on his mom while she was working on my face, yelling throughout the appointment, and repeatedly announcing he needed to use the bathroom. Not exactly the relaxing spa experience I had in mind.
There was also a significant language barrier that made communication difficult. It was hard for me to understand my technician, and she seemed to have just as much difficulty understanding me. That's not ideal when someone is applying chemicals inches from your eyes.
She also talked me into paying extra for a keratin treatment, explaining it would give me soft, feathered brows. Instead, my brows look like they were glued flat to my forehead. I naturally have level 7 blonde hair, but I left with eyebrows that look like they were drawn on with a black Sharpie. My lashes were also overprocessed and now curl awkwardly and crisscross each other instead of lifting naturally.
Throughout the service my eyes and brows burned, but since it was my first professional lash lift, I assumed it was normal. The next day, I was so unhappy with the results that I washed my face before the recommended waiting period in hopes of undoing some of the damage. I was shocked by how much chemical residue was still on my lashes, and my eyes immediately started burning again.
To top it all off, despite already paying my $21 deposit, they insisted they never received it and tried charging me again. I had to pull up my Chase app and prove I'd already paid before they agreed to refund the duplicate charge within three business days.
In the end, I paid a $21 deposit plus another $187.58 for what was easily the worst salon experience I've ever had. Between the scheduling issues, chaotic environment, communication barrier, painful service, double charge, unnecessary upsell, and disappointing results, I left feeling frustrated and looking nothing like what I had asked for.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but spending over $200 for this experience felt like something other potential clients should know about. read more
