K&M Donuts makes the best glazed donut by far. They make a wide variety of excellent donuts as well as a ham & cheese croissant sandwich. Located in a very small strip of stores beside a gas station, there is plenty of parking and the store front is wheelchair accessible. There are lots of windows inside so it is always bright and cheery. And their inexpensive coffee is also very good. They have fast service, offer big smiles if you smile at them and package everything in small paper pastry bags. But this review is all about the Glazed Donuts at K&M. There is no lack of donut shops in the USA. But there is nothing like the ones made at K&M Donuts here in Huntington Beach. Their glazed donut is by far the best I have ever had. What do I mean by the best? The glaze is thin and light and covers the entire donut. It is not greasy. The donut is light, fluffy and melts in your mouth. Many donut shops make excellent donuts but most overcoat their basic glazed ones. K&M does it right. And they keep it affordable. Unfortunately I cannot not provide a photo of the warm glazed donut I purchased. I did not write this review until I got home and it was only then that I realized I had already devoured it. Had the pleasant surprise of finding K&M open on Christmas Day and decided to stop by- what a treat! We got a pretty wide variety of items and all of them were very reasonably priced. I've been craving for good donuts since my underwhelming experience with another donut shop and happened to drive by K & M. Based on the Yelp reviews, I took a chance. The donut selections weren't plentiful since it near closing time when I dropped by. The man behind the counter wasn't friendly so I was hesitant to order anything. But I figured why not the donuts didn't look bad. I bought two donuts -- regular glazed and sugar-raised. To some extent, I'm glad I got some. Both donuts were fluffy, soft, and tasted fresh. The glazed donut was on the oilier side so the sugar one ended up being my favorite of the two. The price was comparable to others ($1.30 for each) but the service could've been better. I felt like the man behind the counter couldn't care less that I was patronizing his establishment; I'm unsure if he was just tired or having a bad day. So for the big question... Would I return and/or recommend this ? I may if I only based my decision on the sugar donut. My husband has been coming here every morning before work to get his normal cup of coffee. Before he even made it inside the gentleman who owns it already had poured his coffee. My husband came in and said "oh no I want a medium today," because he never finishes it so why waste it? All he wanted was a smaller size. I am a donut snob. This place has the best raised donuts on the planet. If you don't know the difference, a raised is the fluffier stuff that comprises a normal glazed, twist, or bar donut (also a French crueller). Theirs are slightly more well done than normal so they are a little darker and crunchier. It makes all the difference.
