There is no kinder or more capable Dentist in San Diego than Dr. Nick from True Design Dentistry…read more On Saturday afternoon, September 12, I hosted a three year-old birthday party that ended in shock and dismay. I tripped on a misplaced 3 foot metal fan and flew 5 feet through the air, damaging my upper lip and cutting my knee. My 4 front teeth all were damaged and one, a beautiful crown that Dr Nick had made for me before, fell out. I called Dr. Nick's emergency number and he did a FaceTime assessment that led to his driving a half hour from his home to reset my tooth. He created a brace to shore up the others and put five stitches in my lip all without pain. I saw him two weeks later for a happy checkup. In one month he will fix the chips that remain on my teeth and most likely remove the bridge that he had created for their stability. Dr. Nick at True Design Dentistry is simply absolutely wonderful. I have been to many dentists in my life and he is by far the very best. He redid several crowns for me and the work that he did was so far superior than the other dental work I had done it was just hard to believe. Your health is one of the most important…read morethings in your life that you must trust others with; and I'm thankful to say I could not be more happy with Dr. Aldo and the team at Bella Vita Dental. I see a lot of reviews talking about upselling and unnecessary treatment and I feel like I must say that whilst in my specific case this would not at all be relevant, it would take truly corrupt individual to do this to what is essentially a patient in a healthcare setting. I cannot in my wildest dreams see Dr. Aldo ever doing something like this - nor do I believe her to work in an environment in which this would ever take place. I stand firm in my belief that Bella Vita Dental is not capable of fostering this sort of behavior. The front desk staff were friendly and inviting and thorough with the answers to my questions, and Dr. Aldo and her team of dental assistants were kind, compassionate, and needless to say, all my issues were addressed and I am back to pain free. Whilst I do not look forward to the next time I have dental issues; I find comfort knowing I'm in great, compassionate hands with Dr. Aldo and all those at Bella Vita Dental.

TL;DR: The billing service that Bella Vita employs filed 2 insurance claims with incorrect billing…read moreinformation, which were denied by my insurance, and are refusing to update that info and resubmit the claim (as recommended by my insurance) and are leaving me with an outstanding $1167 bill. I was a patient with Bella Vita for about 5 years until I moved away last October. I decided to start Invisalign with them in May 2025 and paid my quoted amount ($2411) in full the day treatment started. To my surprise, in April 2026 I received a call that my claim had been denied by my insurance but they would help me out and file another claim that would hopefully be approved by Delta Dental but if that claim was denied, they would file an appeal for me. I got a text on May 11, 2026 that I had an outstanding balance that amounted to ~50% ($1167) of what I originally paid at the start of my treatment so I called to ask what happened and Emily at the front desk told that they filed an appeal for my denied claim but couldn't answer any insurance or billing questions due to the fact that their billing department is not done "in house" so they would have to relay all my questions to a separate service. The office also refused to give me any contact information for their billing department so I'm forced to play telephone with the office and their billing department but also said they could not tell me why my claims had been denied. I was, however, told that my benefits for ortho had been maxed out. I called my insurance immediately after that initial call and they told me that, no, my claim was not denied due to my coverage being maxxed out (it has not been at that point) but because there were errors with the billing information on the claims that were submitted. The insurance rep also notified me that they had no appeal on file, so either there is some technical issue on the insurance side or the office lied about filing an appeal for that 2nd denied claim. The insurance rep told me it was an easy fix and that the office's billing department just need to update that billing info, resubmit, and it should be approved. From May until August of this year, I've called 6 times asking for updates and relaying the message that all they have to do is update their incorrect billing info and resubmit the claim and it should be approved. Everytime I call, I'm met with "The claim was already filed and denied twice so there's not much we can do, but we'll ask the billing department again." I've tried asking for the practice manager and have been told "she's not at her desk but she will call you later" and I never receive that call. All in all, be wary of this place. Since their billing is not done in house, no one at the office can answer specific billing questions and refuse to give contact info for that billing office so you're forced to play telephone with them and their billing department if you ever have an insurance issue.

Well, today, the staff greeted me upon arrival. I was checked in and then asked to wait in the patient waiting room. The waiting room is clean, quiet, and calming before a visit. There is event a purified water dispenser with little cups for filling up. The dental technician/asst named Abby called my name for my appointment to begin. She greeted me and then she roomed me. Once in the room, she took internal photos of my teeth and mouth, gave me a blood pressure wristband , and also administered the saliva bacteria test/lab. I got the results within 10-15 mins on my online Dental MyChart record, they are quick here! Abby then received permission from the dentist to take me to get my x-rays. They have a standup machine that's like taking an oral CT Scan 360° photo of your mouth. Then we had the regular dental x-rays where you have to bite down on the trays with the xray manual camera. I really thought it was cool because they also offered to clean my orthodontic retainer while I was here. It literally took only 15 or 20 minutes and it has been cleaner than I've ever seen it since I got it 7-8 years ago. Thanks! Once done with all of my intake tasks, I was able to meet my new dentist, Dr Wu. I explained to her my concerns, and she was very good about examining my mouth and being gentle as well as giving me all of the information that I needed during her exam. I have to say this is probably the best dentist I've ever encountered so far. Her demeanor is wonderful and she does a really good job at articulating and explaining everything that she's thinking about or diagnosing in your mouth. I did also appreciate that she reviewed my saliva bacterial test results and that she gave really good insight on some of the things that the results mean. Doctor Who has a way of making you not feel bad about your situation in your mouth and I really appreciate her for that. Some people are really natural about positive bedside manner, and Dr. Woo was definitely one of those people. Thanks! Since I felt so comfortable, I have agreed to continue and get my work done here. Once Dr. Woo was done with me, she was able to introduce me to Tom who was able to give me all the information that I needed for my treatment plan and everything that Dr. Wu described and explained to me about her course of treatment. Tom is very pleasant and welcoming, and he is also the same person who checked me in and made me feel comfortable for my visit. I like his positive vibe, it matches Dr. Wu's positivity. I will update my review after I get my dental work done, but I'm very happy that I chose to come here. Today as a new patient, I got a brand new toothbrushing kit, which includes some really cool stuff. My daughter has been a patient at Kensington Dental for many years. I have had several cleanings and fillings here in the last 3.5 years and with every visit I lose a little more trust in this place. Multiple times have I sat down in the chair and had the dentist go "today we'll be working on the right side of your mouth" and I go "no you're not - it's the left side". Or "we'll be working on this tooth", and I go, "no it's this tooth". I also think that while Dr. Qadeer took his time to make me feel comfortable and to gain his trust, being gentle - the other dentist does not. At my most recent visit he was extremely rushed - bumped into my chair, dropped the camera, almost started working on the wrong side of my mouth. Not the level of professionalism I expect from Mesa Dental - and quite frankly I lost a lot of trust in their work. The assistant also kept forcing the suction down my throat, gagging me. I never write reviews, but this experience was so ridiculous that I feel obligated to warn people…read more I went to PB Smiles for a cleaning and somehow left with a 7-visit, $2,000+ out-of-pocket treatment plan (over $8,000 without insurance). This included a crown, inlay, several fillings, and an entire-mouth laser treatment because I supposedly had developed gum disease in the year since I had last seen them. The hygienist and dentist were both incredibly rude and insensitive, and they made me feel ashamed and embarrassed about my teeth rather than actually helping me. I told a friend about the experience afterward, and they said it sounded like I had been treated as if I were an addict about to lose all of my teeth, which is basically how I felt leaving that place. I've struggled with cavities since I was young, but no dental office has ever treated me like this before. The communication between the staff and the general level of care and attention were completely missing. I told the woman who took my X-rays that I had sensitivity when flossing a particular tooth. When the hygienist came in to measure my gums, she said she heard I was experiencing bleeding on one of my teeth. I corrected her and explained that, no, it was just sensitivity when flossing and biting. Then, when the dentist came in, he said, "Okay, so you're experiencing no issues or sensitivities, correct?" I told him again that I had already told both women that I had a tooth that was sensitive when I flossed. He said that was because I had gum disease and needed the laser treatment. I explained that the sensitivity was on the top of the tooth, and he then said that was why I needed the crown. The funniest part is that after spending nearly two hours there, I still didn't even get the cleaning I came in for. Thankfully, I got a second opinion from a dentist who was recommended to me. Turns out I only needed two fillings, and my gums are completely fine. He found no need for the laser treatment, crown, inlay, or the whole $2,000 treatment plan. He also told me that he has seen other patients who came to him with similar experiences after being seen at PB Smiles and other "Smiles" locations. When I called PB Smiles to cancel and told the front desk that I had gotten a second opinion and believed they were trying to scam me, the woman I spoke to immediately became defensive and said that different dentists can recommend different treatments. Different treatment plans I understand, but how does PB Smiles measure every single area of my gums 3+ mm deeper than the other dentist? At that point, the difference feels a lot less like "different treatment philosophies" and a lot more like a very expensive (and terribly executed) sales pitch. Get a second opinion before agreeing to anything here. I'm extremely glad I did.
